  1. Yeah dude, if it's a 3VZ or a 1MZ engine, normally you can change them out at 150k and the likes, but you'd be pushing it. I'm not 100% sure if these are non-interference engines or not. The 5SFE is, meaning that if the belt snapped, the car would stop, and not cause any engine damage.
  2. Prob best start stating what model/year your Camry is... And yes, the new Camrys had ****house bulbs, also depends on if your new ones are any good too?
  3. Taco - Lateralus is like that. He might sound like he's taking a dump on ya, but he's not, lol. He's right in a way... An Aurion ATX is pretty boring looking... I'm a SX6/ZR6 fan, but yeah... they look mean as... especially my dad's black ZR6 with 19 inch Advanti Viennas :) I reckon the reason why most people bag out the Camry is purely because of the fact that heaps of older people drive it. Commodores and Falcons are the EXACT same market, but are RWD, which makes the younger generation like them better over the Camry. What would people think of the Commos and Falcons if they were FWD? They'd probably be in the same boat, because the younger people wouldn't be buying them and no doubt, only older people would be driving them and also fall into the same category as the Camry.
  4. Oh I'm pretty sure 1 second is alot, never said it was "easy" so to speak... but damn. "Bigbird" on TN says that a manual 1MZ is about the equivalent of a S/C'ed 4psi Auto 1MZ?
  5. Adam, How the hell couldn't a manual transmission not help you? They're lighter for a start and you can get them going much better???
  6. Well, Camrys sure as hell aren't sports cars. The price, reliability and quality make it a huge seller to the older generation. They don't care really what it looks like, as long as it works. There are sports versions there... but just because the vast majority of people label them as "boring old people cars" doesn't mean that they're a crap car. At the end of the day, Falcons and Commodores are the EXACT same thing. They were marketed for the same type of audience too... bogans happen to go for those cars moreso and mod them because they're generally more powerful, RWD and can "rip fully sic skids" like half of Caboolture does.
  7. lol... riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Who the hell pays someone 6k because they advertised a car? Should always buy a car either through a site or company, or on the spot when you pick the car up with a MONEY ORDER. He deserved what he got really. Not everyone on this planet are nice.
  8. AND at 6psi... I was expecting slightly better times than that. But... that comes with practice ay? No doubt if you had a Manual and were more experienced, you could probably shave another second easily right?
  9. Put it this way: If they came off a new Camry or Aurion... they'll fit.
  10. Typical. Sellers should know EVERYTHING about what they're selling. Too bad this isn't the case these days. The Gen 4 Camrys take the 5 x 114.3 stud pattern with a +45mm offset. This is the same for the new Camrys and Aurions as well. In fact, anything from Gen 3 through to Gen 6 share the same stud pattern and offset. This is my Gen 3 with ZR6 Aurion rims. They're 17 inch with 55 profile tyres. They're on King Low Springs with KYB GR-2 struts... sits like a champ.
  11. I had a chat to an exhaust shop about these recently... he told me to steer clear from them. Apparently Varex are always going back and forth for warranty. Interesting to see that the cabling that opens the butterfly clip can handle very hot and very cold temps from the exhaust all the time?
  12. Sounds like blown HG... but I'm sure you lot would know if the temp was rising or not? Can you run some thicker oil in it? 20w50 if it can??
  13. Several hundred bucks on CAI? Stuff that, lol... Pod Filter... 150-200 bucks.... piping... 50 bucks. Will do the same as many others :)
  14. Just reminds me of normal shocks squeaking when they start to wear out. It's not something to worry about really.
  15. Wouldn't say useless, but not worth it. Unless you're able to MAKE the car take in more air, the car might be able to get some gains there. CAI on much higher powered cars will have a noticeable difference for sure. Most Camry people I know who have done their intake do it for the noise factor and looks too :P There MIGHT be slightly better response, but that's really about it.
  16. Harmonic balancer pulley and other stuff maybe... should be fine otherwise.
  17. NICE! They're a good price and have all these other lil goodies as well... nice buy mate.
  18. Yeah... that's about an average price for a car like that. Would also be using a mobile mechanic to double check the car for you though :)
  19. The Camrys are smarter than you think. If they see more air coming in, the AFM will adjust the fuel to match that... so there's next to no gain there. The 3VZs on the other hand you can manually modify the ACIS component where it drops more fuel into the engine and giving slightly more power. Normally this doesn't happen until 4k rpm, but once the mod's done, it will happen all the way throughout the rpm range. The Y pipe on the V6s is where you'll make gains. If you get a custom Y pipe made, you can get much better flow and some more of that lost power. If you combine with a custom set of extractors, high flow cat and slightly larger pipe and decent muffler... I could imagine that the pickup, response and power will be much better.
  20. Agreed... same as Camry, just bigger engine :) (with obviously other differences lol) Better off going base-line Aurion rather than base-line Camry.
  21. That's pretty much what I did, but I pop riveted my speakers back on :P I also padded up the metal chassis under the speakers just in case they vibrated a bit... but she came out well.
  22. Ah yes... I remember when every weekend my rear parcel shelf looked like that LOL! Good work mate - good to see someone else using the original bracket for the new speakers :)
  23. Sounds like fun :) Let us know how you go... if not, take it to ACA :P They love this kinda stuff
  24. A mechanic is a mechanic at the end of the day. Just because they work for Toyota, doesn't mean your car's gonna get a better job done on it. I know some Toyota shops that have some awesome mechs in there, and others that seem to be run by monkeys. They're only human at the end of the day. I would be looking for 2500-3k for your stuff there. Radiator coolant itself costs 40 bucks, plus labour... 100 bucks just for that. I'm guessing you have a Manual, being that you wanna change the diff oil? Didn't know about Autos and diffs... where you getting this info from? If you're getting a tranny flush for an Auto, you'll be looking down the barrel of at least $150-200 there anyway. That stuff ain't cheap. This is done in a "transmission service"... you don't just flush the fluid and not drop the pan and clean the oil out of there as well as the magnets. If you're going to do suspension after all that, you might want to budget around 1k-1.5k on new springs and struts. If you keep the original springs, then it might only cost 800 or so. You don't need to replace control arm bushings unless they're screwed... the suspension dude will tell you. Can be done at the same time...
  25. Looks like you're getting the good ol' 200k service :) Vientas are much harder in regards to changing the timing belt in comarison to the 4 cylinder version. If you're gonna do this, you might wanna see if you can get the mechanic to source OEM parts from the local Toyota dealer. There are things like the spark plugs and leads as well as the water pump that I would ONLY use OEM gear as much others are normally inferior compared to them. I wouldn't be surprised if you were looking down around 700-800 bucks for the lot to be done. At the end of the day, it comes down to how good the mechanic is, because the parts are normally the same price in my experience. I'll be due my 200k service in the next year so I'm gonna be doing everything with OEM parts. If you were to get this done at Toyota or someone reputable, this could cost well over 1k I reckon.
