  1. I LOVE Bush Mechanics! Who woulda thought you could use Mission Grass to fix a flat tyre? How about cutting the roof off and towing it upside down as a trailor to carry your music equipement to that next gig in Mulla Mulla Land? lol man that show was awesome.
  2. Oi, that's better mileage than my Cam! I reckon 9.5-10.5L to 100km is that I get on the open road...
  3. Almost guaranteed a fix if you know this bloke... lol. I know him personally and seeing him and Anthony in Byron Bay going "blah blah blah you can do it this way... blah blah blah" and I sit there going <_<
  4. The only differences I know that stand out from the 3VZ and the 1MZ is that the 3VZ had a cast iron block and the 1MZ had an alloy block. The 3VZ used an OBDI diagnostics port and the 1MZs used an OBDII diagnostics port. The Aussie OBDII port is different to the rest of the OBDII ports overseas though, so don't bother importing a Scanguage from the US as it prob won't work... unless you know a workaround of course.
  5. Sounds like one of the bearings in the alternator's packed it in. The more RPM you put through it, the higher the pitch right? It's driveable, but best get it fixed.
  6. That's true, but who would charge someone $300 to replace a rocker cover gasket? The rocker cover gasket must be REALLY bad to be leaking oil that bad. Normally it's something you can wipe away.
  7. Sounds like the quote to get the main seals in the engine replaced...
  8. My bad - I believe they're T5s... yet to do them myself. Also known as HIVAC or HVAC lights - TN has a write-up on this I believe mate.
  9. There's 4 x T10s across the dash and 1 x T5 to cover the 0-20km/h area... I put in some Blue LEDs, came up a treat :)
  10. Reseat the spark plug leads on the plugs and make sure the coil packs are ok.
  11. Is that belt slowing down and speeding up
  12. Mine came with a 100A fuse, 20cm off the pos terminal. Not one single problem since I installed it over 2 years ago.
  13. So? As long as you don't cut a cable, it's fine. I've seen heaps of power cables run through here... they're fine.
  14. Unscrew that wiring harness off the firewall - makes it a ****load easier to pull the cable through. I pulled my 4 gauge cable through there and went behind the glovebox, then followed it down past the left side doors, under the rear seat, straight into the boot. Be sure to hold the cable in there tightly mate, bit of PVC tape wouldn't hurt. I managed to fit my cable through the same loom (tad tight... bit hard) but didn't have to cut anything though.
  15. What year? 18k! It'd wanna have more than just ok mileage on it!
  16. Hey mate, I'd suggest checking for any vacuum leaks or clogging in the intake on the right around the air box. Generally when the air becomes hot I'd notice a slight drop in power... also aircon will make a difference too. Make sure that the throttle kickdown cable isn't loose either (might not be pulling as much as it should)?
  17. You WHAT?? You didn't even get a wheel alignment after replacing the springs? No freakin wonder! Balance would be good too! Hahah.. at least you got it sorted though.
  18. Hah no... only the Gen 4s had those engines. Adam, all Gen 3 Vientas had the 3VZs. I have seen one Gen 3 with a 1MZ though... apparently they had an engine swap.
  19. He's right... never said he wasn't. Two other Camrys in Australia have these same headlights and they work fine... just needed the bulbs adjusted (they were the clear sets, not the black ones)
  20. thermostat and water pump are a priority. Make sure at LEAST those two parts are OEM. Have heard one too many stories of people's thermostats not opening or water pumps leaking/stopping only a month or two after install. Do a full coolant flush while you're at it... empty through the bottom of the radiator and fill from the filler neck on top next to the engine. Use Toyota's Long Life Coolant with distilled or demineralised water at 50/50 mix. Make sure there's no bubbles WHATSOEVER when topping the coolant up whilst the car's running. Maybe change the radiator and neck filler caps if the rubber in the caps are looking a bit dodgy... Only use Denso platinum spark plugs or the NGK Iridium IXs... Denso plugs are stock standard plugs from Toyota (very awesome plug) Can't think of much else. This stuff I outlined is purely from my own personal experience and has helped many others... should be good for you too :)
  21. Have been told that the headlights can have the beams adjusted by adjusting the screw on the top of the headlight... gauge lights WILL fit, but because the temp and fuel gauges are opposite... you'll have that issue. Trent outlines this anyway. wouldn't have a clue about your front grill though mate.
  22. I agree with Trent. Trent and I have both sourced a few things from our American members (both on here and Auscam) coz the parts don't exist here. I've only had a couple of things... Trent's had a hell of a lot more though. 91-92c to the dollar... may as well get it whilst it's like this :)
  23. Looks good mate... the Asian market like to make things there very VIP looking :)
  24. If you DO do a lot of stop/starting stuff, then you'll come across this problem. I wouldn't have thought you would wear it out considering the age of the car though. Couriers have this problem a lot... always starting and stopping. I'd just reseat the cables to the starter motor and see if you get any joy from that?
  25. Autobarn normally stock these kind of performance things more than Supercheap... I did my dash cluster like this and I'll be doing those HIVAC globes soon enough too :)
