  1. My suggestion... checkout www.carsales.com.au and check through the trim models there and see what the seller has in the list of goodies that the car has :)
  2. CSi, CSX, Touring, Grande... What the wagons came in? I couldn't tell you everything about them. There were different editions like the "Advantage" and the "Conquest" etc but yeah. In my opinion, the Touring Series isn't worth it... it SHOULD come with Cruise Control, alloy rims, leather steering wheel and shifter, hopefully CD player etc... power windows too I believe. I have a Touring Series Gen 3 and I believe for a Sedan, it's worth it... it's up to you if you think the added things are worth it.
  3. Well... that'd do it! 3VZ's cooling system is quite a solid system... I wish I could say that about their heads though. I know a Radiator workshop bloke in Maroochydore here on the Sunshine Coast and he's never seen the cooling system fail on any Gen 3 V6, or any 3VZ to his knowledge (including the Lexus equivalent too).
  4. Nah, just different cars must give different figures... I let the car shift gears around 3-4k... and depending on how many traffic lights will depend on how I go. 200k service is coming up within the next 6 months... should improve my fuel efficiency then :)

    93 camry

Exactly. Onnly other thing I'd add is check the plug on the Alternator to make sure it's not loose or coroded. +1 for checking the plug. Mine was loose once... had a similar issue. Reseated and been fine since.
  6. Man I'd be lucky to get 550-600km a tank... lol. I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but the oil refineries are mainly all the same, but the actual fuel suppliers (BP, Shell, Caltex etc) put in their own additives. I think the main refinery in Brissy is a Caltex one right?
  7. I wish I could say the same for BP Ultimate... I get less mileage with that than V Power. Moreso, I have a different engine to yours... never thought 4 cylinder engines liked 98 octane in the first place? They normally run rich and get heaps of fuel smell from the back (had a friend use it on his Camry on a car cruise and all I could smell was fkin FUEL) You might find that it runs better in a 5SFE compared a a 3VZ or 1MZ? Not sure... interesting result though.
  8. I'd be doing the insurance claim if it's obvious the car's going to be written off. Some Insurance companies allow you to purchase the car back from them at a cost... you could then part the car out and make more money back on that? You'd then have your insurance money (minus excess) plus whatever you make outta the car.
  9. lol... To confirm: Australian Gen 3 Camrys had the 3VZs right from 92 through to 97. There were a few 97 Gen 7s that actually HAD a 1MZ (as I have seen one myself. I doubt that the person would have done an engine transplant due to the fact he knew stuff all about cars). The 1MZs were really only used from 98 onwards in the Gen 4s. In America, the 3VZs were only used on the 92-93 Camrys. The 1MZs were from 94 through to 97... also following onto the Gen 4s there too.
  10. If I can do this - anyone can. Mind you, I have imported tail lights for my Gen 3.
  11. Nice... seems to be quite some good deals getting around... It's not so Minty when there's a few problems with that car for sale!
  12. The Gen 3.5 version CSX had 15 inch alloys... CD player and the other goodies. Reminds me of the Ultima, but they normally have leather seats etc...
  13. I think from reading this slowly... translation is: "Ok, the problem is nearly fixed. Has anyone got an idea on the Throttle Assembly, maybe a photo or schematic?" My answer to this question: - What year Camry? - What engine?
  14. ... wha? Not trying to be insulting, but we can't help you if you can't tell us the problem.
  15. Interesting problem... I wouldn't have imagined that you'd be receiving two different temps from either end of the radiator. Just a couple of easy questions: - When you take the filler cap off for the radiator fluid, does it still bubble? I mean, even minutely?? If so, keep the car on idle and see if it disappears. - What are the condition of the filler and radiator caps? Is the rubber in them still good? Did you change them with a lower or higher pressure rating? I believe radiator is 1.1 and filler is 1.0. Other than that, if the coolant is old and has been diluted... that'll cause problems too.
  16. It seems as though it learns your driving habit much quicker in comparison to Gen 3 and 4 camrys... ours will learn the driver's style over approx 200km of driving and go from there.
  17. And for you unique, for the 2GR-FE on the Aurion: In addition to that, only for the Aurion (so just for you unique), the U660E 6-speed automatic transmission has "AI (Artificial Intelligence)-Shift Control". This is primarily for a smooth drive, but as a result, will mean that if you drive it like a granny, it will start shifting like that. It's for smooth operation and not fuel efficiency purposes: Daz, Does the ECU figure out your driving pattern instantly or over a period of kms or time?
  18. Hmmm... never checked. How's the tranny fluid goin? Check that it's full mate...
  19. A major service is one that's carried out ever 100k. That is when the timing belt, idler bearings, seals, water pump, spark plugs etc are all replaced. A 4 banger can be around 400-600 bucks or thereabouts.
  20. Possibly one of the baffle plates in the muffler's broken as well?
  21. Hmmm.. looks like Gen 4s WERE built in 2000. Must have been the last of them. If you look at a Gen 4.5 (facelift model) yes you'll notice the tail lights, headlights... some other stuff as well. I've never owned one, just know a lil bit about them. I wouldn't bother with the rear plugs, unless you got skinny arms and some nice extension bars.. lol. I can't even get CLOSE to them. Gotta take the intake plenum off to get to them basically. If someone gave me an Aurion... I'd be one happy lil camper. I went for a spin in my dad's Black ZR6 and it's fantastic. I love the dash cluster as well... looks like you're in the cockpit of a plane hahaha!! The TRD Aurions though are even better again. I've been in one of those (although not driving) and man they haul some ****!
  22. Yeah mine did the same... can take a while for it to stop. If not, might need the calipers machined or something?
  23. Must have been an early 2000 model because it has the Gen 4 backend compared to when the Gen 4.5s were made... looks nice though mate. The Gen 3 Touring Series were called Vientas... I even have my Vienta badge for proof if anyone wants to see :P
  24. x 3 for the Gen 3. I've driven a few Gen 3s and driven/been in a couple of Gen 4s. Needless to say, Gen 3 feels stronger, design looks better inside and out and yeh, slightly biased for owning a Touring Series Gen 3 :P
