  1. Well, after trying to catch you up in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland yesterday, I'd suggest that I don't drive like a GRANDMA, but you moreso driving like a LUNATIC hahahahaha
  2. I run 35-36... as per my Tyre Bloke when I got the tyres replaced recently.
  3. Interesting about the 3VZ and the 98 octane fuel... Understood about the whole engine compression and efficient fuel consumption/burning... But who's to say that a 9.6:1 compression can't burn 98 octane efficiently? Obviously it'd be better in the 1MZ... My 3VZ just LOVES the stuff. Maybe because these engines just go well with it, or maybe because it burns better with it... dunno. On plain start-stop traffic, I get around 550km to a tank... no main road driving... top speed of 70km/hr.
  4. Mate, I'd be trying a Pedders or Fulcrum Dealer to see if they can "hire" for the day... I think Autobarn used to... but normally worth spending the money on getting them anyway.
  5. You'll want to keep in mind that when you need to rotate your tyres, that you can't have an All Rounder on one rear wheel and another brand on the other rear wheel... looks bad and both will have different treads...
  6. So this comes down to the idiots that say "Oh, 98 octane makes no difference over 95 octane"... So, the reason why V6s benefit from it, is because the timing's changed to compensate for the better fuel... So, in saying that, the people who don't notice any difference, or people who SAY it doesn't make a difference either don't have an ECM that can't adjust accordingly or possibly a smaller engine that may not benefit from higher octane fuel in the first place?
  7. Any of you mechanic blokes on here... What kinda gains would you expect from a 3VZ and a 1MZ in your estimated opinions? We need a Guinea Pig car!
  8. If you're wanting to get the best Gen 5 or 5.5... go the Sportivo or Azura... I love Azuras, but they're more a luxury version than a Sports version. This also goes for the Gen 3 (aka Widebody) with the Ultima/Grande and the Touring Series...
  9. Just wondering.... The same would apply for the 3VZ right?
  10. I seen PLENTY of these... normally bright pink, yellow, green, mixes of the colours... in Bangkok :P Hehehehe Nice car mate, looks awesome.
  11. Is there a fuse that looks after this? Might wanna look into that too. Coz you have a Gen 6, you should still have warranty... get Toyota to fix it :P
  12. I remember coming back from Thailand after 2 weeks and the battery was gone... I believe the battery was on it's last legs anyway. Just unhook the Neg terminal... as mentioned before, any settings will be wiped. This could also be good as your ECU will be reset and will start to learn your current driving habits :)
  13. Hey mate, The only way I accessed my power antenna was through the boot. You'll need to remove those clip things in the material lining and get to it from there. The best place to get pics would be heading to www.toyotanation.com and looking at the Gen 3 & 4 section... there's a whole stickied topic on all sorts of mods for these cars... look for the S2000 antenna mod and it'll show you enough no doubt.
  14. What an embarassment... Change the rims, never shoulda damaged the doors like that and that STUPID targa top roof... What a laugh!
  15. The engines on cold start, will sit around 2k rpm for about 20 secs, then gradually start lowering itself. It seems to be a Toyota thing... I reckon it's there to get the engine warmed up quicker and to get the engine working much more before the driver actually goes for a drive.
  16. I believe there was a "Mega Meet" for TOCAU, in a different category on the forum... people from East Coast of Aust are making a week outta it and all heading to Melbourne. Not sure if it's been and gone, but have a look. Other than that, the only cruise I know of is on Auscam... but that's up here in S/E Qld :)
  17. As Anthony said... mainly seals. Sometimes the dizzy can leak oil too and not actually be the O ring (happening with my car, nothing serious though). Other than that, the shocks (if stock) are more than likely gone... can still use fine, but they'll just squeak a lot and feel like you're driving a boat :P You'll find a couple of interior issues as well... ceiling lining will start to peel.. same with the door trims. These are nothing to worry about ultimately. As long as the car's been serviced and had whatever's needed to be done when it should be, it should be more than fine. Remember, it's a CAMRY after all! These things are one of the best made cars to date :)
  18. I haven't heard from Josh for a couple of years... not sure if he's even got the Cam anymore? Was an awesome Cam... he used to be on Camcrew, before that forum closed it's doors and I haven't heard a word from him on Auscam either...
  19. Hehe, no probs? As mbruce said, MY06 is the "Gen 5.5". Looks like ALL Gens of Camrys (can't say for Gen 1s though) had a ".5" series. There's an updated model in each Generation. Normally they just change tail lights, front lights... maybe a couple of extra goodies... etc etc.
  20. MCV36R is V6 1MZFEs and the ACV36R is 2.4L 4 bangers if I'm not mistaken... Haynes Manuals are by far the best in my opinion... very illustrative and easy to understand, as well as having lots of stuff covered too.
  21. Yeah I know a guy who runs "North Coast Corollas and Camrys" - he's more than happy to just rebuild a dizzy at his place, take my car around and swap it out rather than just rebuilding mine... It's really hard when I don't have any form of transport other than just my own car and I don't have anyone that I can get to pick up/drop off. It's a hard thing to get fixed if you know what I mean. I have my normal mechanic who comes and picks my car up from work, takes it back to the workshop and does it from there... but... I'd have to get a seal kit because he's not able to "source" them so to speak. Thanks for ya help mate.
  22. Mick - that's awesome. I'll be after the 3VZ kit anyway... coming from Canada... hmmmm... would have to find if it's worth it or not though :)
  23. I'm much the same as Lateralus... I have a 95 Camry although, I use AAMI for my Insurance... normally it's best with Insurance to check if you can get a bundled price with say, House Insurance... etc etc. Sometimes if your immediate family are through the same company, the price can change dramatically :) I only pay $500 a year on full comp insurance through AAMI and I'm only 22... it's insured for around 7k though (which is more than what it's worth). I use Shell V Power... I find it responds best to this fuel... have tried many before... nothing compares to it. My mechanic is a personal friend... he runs his own mobile mechanic business and used to work for Toyota once upon a time... he's up to speed on all the Toyota engines either way.
  24. Do the hubcaps even GO yellow?? Bloody bots... The funniest thing would be if they replied back to one of us...
  25. Hey mate, Just wondering... maybe... if the Azura has leather seats (not sure or anything), you should see if you can find a wrecked Azura and get the seats from that? Should be a direct swap... possibly some electronics... not sure ay. About buying leather covers, never even heard of em! I'm more for my $300 Sheepskin Seat Covers :P
