  1. Just wondering if you have a problem with the Bump Stops? Sounds a bit weird..
  2. Dude, I dunno how them Red and Green P plates work... you're still running a naturally aspirated engine and nothing's really been changed in the engine by all means. Anthony does have a good point with the Y Pipe... the guys in the states rave about the bloody things!
  3. Hmmmm... from what I know: - Extractors and full exhaust - Could give you a couple of kw more... but the pickup/acceleration would be the best advantage. Looking around 1.5k though with custom extractors (they don't make off the shelf extractors for 3VZs or 1MZs and the cheapest I have seen is around 900 bucks fitted) - Ported and Polished heads - Can gain an extra 10kw... if not more - Would be the best bang for your buck. - Piggyback ECU - Can have this tuned to get more outta ya car... prices vary depending on the brand and who you get to tune it. - Better fuel - there's shizloads of topics on good fuel on TOCAU and AC forums... I prefer Shell V Power (98 octane) and use Nulon Total System Cleaner... cleans injectors, fuel tank etc etc... works for me. Can feel the smoothness in the car. There's plenty of information on the MR2 forums in the states (they love dropping 3VZs into the MR2s over there for Torque and turboing) and they have all sorts of upgrades for the 3VZs, right from Intake plenum to changing the AFM settings (FYI the AFM gives more fuel at around 4k RPM, which you'll notice) and people have changed the AFM to give that fuel all the way through the RPM range. Don't worry about CAI - it won't make a difference for our cars. The AFM is smart enough to know when more air's going into the engine and will adjust accordingly anyway. Let me know if you want any further info :)
  4. Yeah... my car's "Storm" or "Gunmetal" Grey as is... Black door trim so far, black leather steering wheel and shifter... would suit for a black roof. My car gets hot anyway due to the colour, so a black roof ain't gonna matter anyway :P hahaha
  5. Looks awesome mate... where did ya get the material from again? Lincraft? Spotlight?? I'm wanting to do mine in black, but in the same fabric :P
  6. Quite possibly right. I've never filled up 72L in my car before (never filled up past 60L to be honest) but there's always that possibility.
  7. Did you just say you got HEADERS and the exhaust for $520??? I'm guessing it's only the exhaust... I have been quoted around 900-1k for headers made and installed so I wouldn't think that all was done for that price. Most headers for a V6 are custom made, especially ours. These would need to be tuned to the right length and made as needed (normally mandrel bent).
  8. What colours do you have? I ain't got any time to pull mine off :(
  9. They HAVE to be RHD specific? They said that it'd work! Meh... anything for a sale.
  10. G,day Front indicators have to be custom made here for our Aussie Camrys... makes it fun. I made my own with 3mm sheet of perspex and a tube of Sicaflex (the good stuff, not the normal Sicaflex). To do this job (done a few DIYs on different forums) you need to take the whole housing out, heat up the orange cover, make a template of the orange cover, trace the template to the paper part on the perspex sheet, cut it out using a jigsaw or something similar... get the original orange cover and either dip the perspex into boiling water (straight off the kettle) or use an oven to heat it up... take it out of the oven/water and wrap around the orange cover to get the right shape. Once shaped and cooled down, use the sicaflex to glue the border of the new cover onto the housing. Once it's dry, you can then paint the border to cover up the sicaflex that you can see through the perspex around the borders... just get a can of spray paint that's the same colour of the car. You'd normally get a strip of masking tape through the centre of the new cover for where you don't want it painted... do 3-4 coats. Looks awesome. I did mine that way - still goin strong :P In regards to the headlights, I was gonna buy a set of those black ones... they WILL fit, and yes as the other guy said, you'd need to adjust the pitch on the globe between right and left side road driving (use a screwdriver, easy)... I didn't get them instead and got a new sub :P They apparently have pre-made black depo headlights like this with HIDs already in... 500USD though (or thereabouts). If you can find someone who can sell those lip spoilers... HIT ME UP!! I want one too :P
  11. 70... 72... depends on where you read about it.
  12. First thing you'd notice would be starting the car :) Turns over much quicker. I don't know if a bigger alternator will help much... might be an expensive upgrade for not much difference possibly?
  13. I know Azza in Cairns has over 550k :P The heat thing can't be avoided as easily... 25% tint on the boot will stop the speakers from melting hopefully :P Can then do the rear windows in 30% and the front windows in 35% :) The ceiling will always get the sagging... my car's doin it (only a lil bit) but I'll prob take the whole thing out and re-do the whole lot in a nice black foamish vinyl type thing (as I have already done my door panels in black, which go well with the leather steering wheel and leather shifter). Good luck.
  14. Good to see you got the problem sorted mate. It's good knowin ol' Adam... "The Yank with contacts". He's American... they're allowed to be a tad arrogant! He means well :P If you ever need any info on "can a *insert part* be installed on a *insert part* work?", he'll freakin know it... hahahahahahaha!! He's also Auscam's American hub on getting USDM stuff too - so far I've had help with him getting my tail lights, special bonnet cover... transmission torque mount... NASCAR CAMRY BOOKLETS?! Hahahaha Good work Adam, you're more appreciated than you think.
  15. G,day mate, sounds like a nice system. Trent's right - Capacitors won't do much at all. I had this same problem mate... I ended up (with a couple of mates of mine) replace the Pos & Neg terminals on the battery with Stingers (you'd need to replace the Pos anyway for the power cable as ya know)... and ran another 4 gauge earth cable from the battery straight to the chassis. They actually make replacement earth cables... bigger and with better contacts... normally can buy from a car auto shop in a pack. You'll have an earth to the chassis, the alternator, the engine (I think?)... and yeah. How old is the battery? You're going to be pushing a bit of power when you add the extra amp in there too, so a decent battery will do the trick well. SPL Camry from Auscam has a real fancy setup that you might like too. The rattling... all I can say is - MAKE SURE ALL SCREWS ARE DONE UP TIGHT!! Door panels will vibrate... some people have stuck foam behind the doors to stop the shaking (considering you have 6.5 components in the door and all) if you can fill in the door panels with something like that, it'd be nice. The actual door itself could get Dynamatted too... how many layers you place on there is up to you. The car will feel heavier too mate :P Sounds like a nice system mate... show us some pics!
  16. Wouldn't be the cheapest in the engine bay to repair... Nothing wrong with the distributor?
  17. More aftermarket support on the 1MZs than any other Camry engine I reckon... As Trent said - Solaraguy... if not ToyotaNation. They play around with the 1MZs and the 3VZs :)
  18. Well, at least we know it'll be different! These engines weren't built for boost... but I guess it's all in the fun on custom modifying everything for it to do so. Honestly, try and get ahold of Campbell - he's quite cluey on this kinda stuff... he'll at least be able to advise on where to route hoses... moreso show what he did anyway.
  19. My TRD badge gives me an easy 5kw :P and the Auscam sticker 200kw ATW LOL!! Really though, fuel treatment when you fuel up (Nulon Total System Cleaner or Nulon Injector Cleaner) with 98 octane fuel... It's like anything - you put good stuff in it, it'll behave good. Same goes for humans... you drink grog each night and eat Pizza, Maccas etc, your body won't like it... it'd be like putting sand in the fueltank hahaha
  20. I will be suprised if it could handle one? If you want twin, you'd be wanting to run not too much boost. I'm told the compression is quite high already so yeah. I know a friend of mine in Townsville who has successfully turboed his 5SFE, but had to redo the heads because he blew them whilst dyno tuning I believe? The turbo was maybe slightly bigger than a CT20 though. You've got the engine set for a turbo though - it's gonna be fun to custom make EVERYTHING!! Search for "Campbell" on here in TOCAU or see if you can drop him a PM on Auscam or thereabouts. We love playing around with these engines. Quite honestly though - We'd normally just swap in a 3SGTE and go from there :P But a twin turbo 5SFE would be awesome..
  21. If you have the time... Port and Polish my friend. Should be approx 700-1k, depending on who you know and stuff. I could imagine an easy 20-30kw gain from what I've heard. For response, a decent exhaust system would never go astray... And - those cars LOVE good fuel - I treat my car right - she runs awesomely.
  22. Yes, you can change the lights for the A/C etc etc... another lad on AC did that too - Trepidation aka Trep or Erin. I believe it's easy once you know how, but I'm yet to do this on my own. I'm going to do mine blue to match the HUD that I have, and it'll also match my Head Unit too.
  23. Oi Adam.. Is that SNOW in those pics?? Holy hell!... lol, never seen it before.
  24. 2GR would be fun... cost an absolute stack. They possibly have better fuel consumption than the 1MZs I'd imagine. Gen 6 Camrys and Aurions share the same chassis so I don't see why it should be a problem to install a 2GR. You'd probably wanna find the same engine or find out what the price is compared to getting another car? Possibly ex-lease ones coming out cheap...
  25. Oh yeah you get the sucking noise no problem, sometimes sounds like a turbo spooling :P
