  1. I believe E10 might run sluggish on most cars, because it's half-cleaning the fuel tank and engine (injectors and stuff). Because Ethanol is a form of alcohol in some respect, it has some kind of cleaning effect (can't remember the terminology, but I believe this is why). You'd really need to try each one for yourself, but you prob won't get the full whack off that type of fuel if you mix it with others. Each brand uses different additives. I've filled up with a couple of others, but I don't like any of em except Shell. If you make sure your fuel system's clean, and run a decent fuel, you should be runnin beautifully. A new fuel filter wouldn't hurt though :)
  2. A good service and a tune on the 3VZs wouldn't hurt mate :) You run Manual or Auto?? I believe a good set of oil, 98 octane fuel... new fuel filter, check the air intake... Nulon make this additive you place in the fuel called "Total System Cleaner" - Run the car down to empty (Well, as empty as possible), fill up with 98 octane fuel (Shell IMO as well as a lot of others seems to be the best) and add the additive... run it down a tank, and then get the Nulon injector cleaner with 98 octane. I noticed the car will run a bit shakily, but that was purely because it was removing some buildup from inside the engine. Works a treat now. I can get over 500km a tank around town easily.
  3. Yeah, there's normally a generic way on putting these things on, but hey, wrap the whole thing around the seat and make it tight... should be sweet.
  4. I could point you in the direction of Greg (aka 89Camry) who has a 89 Gen 2 Show Car with a 3SGTE? Orrr... if you're up for a bit of a "one off", I'd imagine you hit up a normal 3SGE engine (3SGTE without the Turbo) and start from there mate. The 2VZFE is the V6 that you can get in the Gen 2 Camrys.... 2.5L or thereabouts? I've heard there can be problems with this, so the 3SGE might be a better engine to work with if you're after performance parts. Most performance parts for Camrys didn't happen until they made the charger for the 1MZ engines and all :)
  5. Rather than referring them to a completely different car, ask for a set of rims with the right offset and stud pattern. If the person on the other end doesn't know what you're talking about, then you prob shouldn't be buying through em. Your wheel width... wouldn't go much bigger than 7.5 inch wide, unless you plan on flaring or rolling. You could prob fit a +44 to +45 with 8 inch wide rims, but it may rub on the inside.
  6. Only saw 1... in Phuket. Sitting in a carpark in Phuket Town... Black one :)
  7. IF you can find a set of extractors for that, and a more free-flowing exhaust... you may be in luck. Honestly, them engines aren't the first thing you look at to go faster. By the time you spend on making it maybe pull an extra 5kw, you could look for the 2VZFE and swap that in instead? Orrrrrrrrr... 3SGTE :P If not, just normal 3SGE :)
  8. Nice car... Gotta love Thailand and their love for Jap cars and unrestricted modding rules... (well, lack of modding rules) I remember when I was in Bangkok and Phuket last year - some of those Camrys were NICE!! "V6 Camrys" anyway... :P
  9. G,day mate... The offset you're after is +40 through to +42... stud pattern is 114.3 x 5. A good set of 17s would look awesome... mind you, these cars REALLY need to be lowered slightly, they look hilarious otherwise. Ford's offsets are different to the Camrys... I believe they're around +30 to +35?? Either way, they'll rub on the lip if the guards are not flared or rolled up. Seen it happen many a time mate :) Besides... why would you want Ford mags on a Camry??? You don't want to DEVALUE the car now do ya?!? lol :P
  10. Mate... I have a set of the Red/Clear tails... you just need to find the right seller champ. I used Matrix, in LA. You can either google the name or find the seller on Ebay.
  11. Hey, thanks to ya both :) I have had a problem with the Power Steering once upon a time... got fixed under warranty at that stage. I'll see if the power steering needs re-doing :) I've talked to heaps of mechs and radiator shops... I get different stories from them... and then the "I'm not entirely sure coz I've never had to really work on them" LOL CAMRYS FTW!!
  12. Go for airbags... just don't come up to Qld, they're illegal here. Quite honestly your best mods will be exactly as Adam said... projectors, good lowering job with a set of adjustable coilovers, nice rims... dark tint... red/clear tail lights (like mine) and a DECENT exhaust. Don't do the shopping list thing down the side of the doors either with "Apexi, Trust, Poofs" etc etc
  13. ... wtf? lol Thanks mate. I'm hoping it's not the head gasket... I doubt it anyway :P I love to live in denial for this stuff! I'm plannin on takin it into a Radiator place... but how do I get a clog in the radiator or block if the whole thing's been cleaned out just over a year ago??? It sucks when you gotta take it into somewhere and not have anyone to help get ya back to work!
  14. Hey lads, I've found that my car starts to overheat when sitting in traffic... which sucks! I've had advice as to what the problem may be, but each person says something different. First off, the radiator had it's tank replaced about 12 months ago and was completely flushed out... So I'm not 100% sure if there's a blockage anywhere? When the car gets hot, it'll go from 50% (normal) to around 80%. I can turn on either the A/C or turn the temp from Cold to Heat and watch the temp gauge come down back to 50%. I'm guessing when the A/C's on, the radiator fan goes a bit quicker, and the heater may extract the heat from the engine bay?? I had a problem similar to this a couple of months ago... the car would overheat, but found that the fan wasn't kicking in when it got hot enough (the temp needle still rises), you could actually catch the fan... took it to the mechanic, couldn't find a fault (fan was going flat out like it should). Now, the 3VZ engines I *believe* are oil driven, rather than the 5SFEs that are electric driven... does anyone know for certain?? I've been told that it's possible that the fan needs replacing.. Hahaha, this is goin to be an interesting one, I never normally have a problem with my Camma!! Thanks everyone for their input :) - Shannon
  15. He's on AUSCAM champ... you're a member there too, send a PM to Adam aka "ASG14", he's like the American Hub for any US parts. I'll personally vouch for him and so does half of AUSCAM :) I've gotten a few parts from the states (engine bay cover, transmission torque rod etc) so yeah.
  16. Yeah, some people have a switch hidden in their car that's connected to the fuel pump... I'll be doin that soon enough :) Or... so as Rel says, PIN coded fuel pump FTW! Quite nifty seeing that in action! Mind you, the car's got over 65k's worth of mods :P
  17. If it were me, I'd be hittin up the Tiida... I reckon they look like crap, but who cares... everything's paid for :) You'll save on not having to drive your car, or service as much... and can put that money back into the ol' Camma mate.
  18. I know Adam would be able to get us a contact though right Rel? He has a few friends over there that have em... might be able to find a cheap way on gettin em here... I wouldn't mind one myself, gotta love Rod Millen... you should see his workshop in the states!! Futuristic stuff for the Military and chuckin V*s in Lexus IS250s :P If you ever wanna hear a Kiwi accent mixed with an American accent... listen to Rod Millen LOL
  19. Prob check that your headlight housing hasn't gotten too old and like, gone a shade of yellow too... Or... buy clear headlights :P
  20. There a wiring harness that comes with this? Maybe an adaptor from the old wiring harness??
  21. Doesn't help that I have the Crystal Vision :P Hahahaha Cops don't have a problem with em here...
  22. The difference between the LHD and RHD would be the angle of how the light sits right? (Being lower on the left for US drivers for oncoming traffic and vice versa for Aussie Drivers) I believe you can change the tilt on the Gen 3 lights anyway with a screw?
  23. MR2s had the good ol' ST165 engines... Those E153s only on the Manual V6s here?? What's the strength difference to the 3VZ gearboxes?
  24. They look awesome... but... Do they have blue Halos in there??? Hugely illegal here... (They're blue) and also.. that's a proper HID bulb too ay???
  25. Just hit up 2 years... 163 on the clock :) Runs beautifully :P
