  1. I've already reported the fault since day one. They just told me to give it a few more km's. I then raised it again with the filed technician who said he will report it for me and we just have to wait for a solution. I'm not sure what will happen but they said it will be sorted out and fixed for me but I will just have to wait. So I really don;t know what's going to happen. Like I've said I've been constantly trying over the last year to solve all my issues but it's not getting very far. I doubt that these problems will be fixed and really don;t have any faith in Toyota. I will be going to Toyota on Thurs and demand some answers.
  2. http://www.mvria.nsw.gov.au/motorists/mot_int.htm These guys may be able to help us with any repair issues we have. My friend went through these guys to get his gear box issues resolved with his 200SX. I think they might be able to help us. i will be contacting these guys after I send an email to Jenny Stewart and speak to Toyota Dealer one last time.
  3. I hear you guys and I would be keeping the car if I haven't gone through so much problems with the car. Some of us here have small problems and some have major problems but it seems like I have all the problems put to together. That is the reason why I'm deciding to give it up. These are the issues that I've been having: 1. vibrations with gear selector cables. Still hear rattles when accelerating. 2. squealing brakes when reversing and forward at slow speeds 3. rattles in the dash. (Feel like it will fall apart. Will get worst over time. toyota may say it is because it is a few years old) 4. rattles on the passenger door. 5. Window feels like it is loose. When you close the door u hear it rattle. 6. Power window on passenger side somtimes fail. 7. Front left suspension is still giving me probs with slight knocking noises even though it has been replaced. 8. scraping noise when gearing down or accelerating. Disappears when clutch is depressed. 9. Whining or high pitch noise when gearing down especially in 2nd and 1st gear. 10. Cigarette lighter doesn;t work. (Just noticed a week ago). 11. Crunching gears and sticky gear problem These are only the problems that I STILL have that are yet to be fixed. There have been other issues as well. Basically I've got every problem listed hear on this forum. I've also been to Toyota at least 25 times over the last year that I've had the car and they take for ever to fix a simple problem. even though they say it has been fixed, it hasn't. I'm really fed up. If I only had the gear crunch problem then it would still be OK to keep the car and follow up on a resolution. I feel this car will get worst over time. That is only my opinion and what I've experienced. I don;t want to influence any one in changing cars as well. But I will have to say that the others that changed their cars made me wanna do so as well. Sorry to sound so negative guys but that's the way I feel.
  4. That's true. I don't think Toyota gives a sh!t what we do with our cars. If we gonna change the clutch and flywheel which will fix the problem then we should ask Toyota to pay for it. I don't think we should have to pay a cent if we have to go out of our way to get it fixed ourselves. They should own up to the responsibilty and compensate for our fix. I don;t know why they can't just come up with a new clutch and flywheel like the TRD or TOM's and use that as a fix. They can just replicate something like it, either use the same materials or design or whwever it takes. If they know that there is something out there that resolves the problem then why can't they impliment that. It's a good idea to all sell our cars on the same day and let Today Tonight or ACA know but who will be up for it?
  5. Yeah, I'd love to meet Mr Toyota Australia. Punch him in da face! How are we gonna get to meet one of these big shots from Toyota? The last I've heard is that they know it is a problem and if enough cars are reported then they will look into developing a fix. I'm not sure where this is heading at the moment. That was almost a month ago. I'm not sure if it's heading in a positive direction and if anything will be done. I will be raising it up again when I go for 20K service which shouldn't be too long. I don't know about u guys but aren't u tired yet? I'm just sick of all these hassles. I really don;t have the time to be taking this and other matters to them time and time again.
  6. I was driving today taking off from red light up to around 6000-7000rpm when I changed to 2nd. I now know what u guys mean when you have the clutch fully depressed and still the gears go crunch. Today was the first time it happened to me when I have the clutch fully down. Normally when I try to quick shift it crunches or the gear locks up. This time I was only taking my time and wasn't trying to race anyone. And it still crunched! I was like WTF!!! :o The clutch was all the way down. I didn't even released it yet. It's just F%$#ED UP! I'M fed up with this sh!t. To be honest guys, I don't know if the car is worth keeping if this problem keeps going. For the time, money and effort put into all the issues and problems with the Stivos, I am considering in giving it up as well. When I first got this car I was loving it even though there were problems with it coz I thought it would be fixed under warranty. Now I'm just so tired of this whole thing that I will be looking into another car soon. I'm not sure what it will be as I am really tight financially. If I can afford it I'll be getting the Accord Euro :D , or who knows might even keep the Stivo if nothing comes my way financially. Sorry to say that guys but for all the other Stivos without the gear or rattle problems, Hope you NEVER EVER EVER EVER have to experience what we do and what we have to go through to resolve this problem. <_< I will still be chasing this up with Toyota while I've still got the car. If it doesn't look like there will be a solution then I will have decide to dump her. :(
  7. I'm down for it depending on affordability. I just need to know roughly how much it would cost for the clutch and flywheel together. Just a rough estimate would be OK. I don't wanna break the bank. And also roughly how much would it cost to install. Once I know how much it would costs then I'll decide whether I'm in or not. But I'm definitely interested. Thanks.
  8. I've experienced the complete opposite...LOL I use to run Optimax for almost a year now. I now use BP Ultimate and I'm still having gearbox issues. I feel that Ultimate runs smoother and I will be sticking with Ultimate as the gears feel a bit smoother but still jams. I think there's not much difference and it plays a pyschological effect on our minds.
  9. I just noticed all the guys from Livo area has black Stivos. i have a black one too. I haven't seen the Stivo with sunroof yet. Probably too fast for me to notice. But that's because it's BLACK and faster than the rest. Please switch off STEALTH mode!
  10. is this noise a whistling or whining noise when gearing down and letting go of the clutch or does it sound like a scraping noise? Coz I seem to have both these noises.
  11. Just got back from Toyota. I was speaking to the field technician in regards to the gear box issue. He has already put in a report in for my car about the problem shifting gears in high revs. That is all he can do as the gear boxes are made and designed in Japan. If enough people report it then they may do something about it. I have told him that we all have reported to our dealers and also emailed Jenny Stewart. He told me that I'm not the only one having the gear box issue as he has seen the list of problems with the car and this is one of them. All he suggests is to wait or take it up with Jenny as he is only a field tech. So what I suggest everyone to do is request for a field tech to come out to your dealer to inspect your car. Then they would be able to put a report in for u. It would make our case stronger.
  12. ADR, U probably don;t live in a high crime area. I live in Cabramatta, Sydney. It's an asian ghetto full of junkies. That is why my premium is so high. I have quoted AAMI already and they offerred $1800. Still not too bad.
  13. It is time for me to renew my Insurance policy. I am currently with GIO which is at $2000 with NCD rating of 1 which gives me life time no claim bonus of 60%. I have checked around and found a company that offers the same with a very attractive premium. They're called Budget Insurance which is under Insurers Hotline. They offerred me $1400. That's a saving of $600 which I can save towards my turbo kit :P . Has anyone heard about this company? Are they any good? I am having second thoughts now coz I don't really know how reliable they are. If anyone has any info or knows anyone who had a bad experience with this company please let me know. I don;t wanna be going with a dodgy company. What Insurance companies are recommended. Please give me ur point of views. Appreciate it!
  14. It's around 10 litres left. I've noticed yesterday that all petrol stations I went to ran out of premium unleaded. Even today!!!. What's going on? I had to go to Ampol and filled Ampol Gold which is basically the same as Vortex. I hope it's good petrol.
  15. Has anyone here had a field technician take a look at their car? I had a field technician take a look at my car and he found all the problems and how to fix them. I had the sizzling problem fixed on that same day. One of the rubber seals were hanging loose under the car. Also the vibrations with the gear selector cable has been identified as a broken rubber grommet. When the guys at the service center replaced the gear selector cable they punched another hole in the grommet to pass the cable through. They idn't know where to pass the cable through so they decided to make another hole. What a bunch of D%$#heads! i am now waiting for the parts to arrive to get it replaced. The field technician also wants to be there when they replace it so that everything will be done properly. I also asked him when we went for a test drive about the gears crunching. he said that he has not heard any complaints about it yet but will check up with Toyota in Melbourne to see if there is any reports on it. I will see him on Thurs when they replace the grommet to see if he has heard any issues. He is a really good bloke. Very helpful. If any guys in Sydney wants to have a field technician look at the car, just request for it. They come out once every 2-3 months to each dealer in Sydney. i had mine organised when I called Customer Relations. It puts pressure on the dealer to get things done properly. 1 of the technician's name is Greg. Top bloke. He will look after you.
  16. Where did u guys go? I finished work at 9pm but I didn't have anyone's phone number. When I logged on I saw a message from Yekim with his phone number. It was too late by then. :( I really wanna meet up with u guys as I have been a member of this forum for 1 year now and have not met up with u any of u guys. Hopefully next time we can meet up on a Thursday or Friday as they are my only days off. Sorry for not being there.
  17. I'm very keen in coming along but I'm working til 9pm. Where abouts are you cruising to? I might catch up with u all if it's not gonna be too far from work.
  18. Yep, I got that problem too but on the passenger door side. I haven't said anything to Toyota yet as they are yet to fix other issues with my car. I also get the dimming lights as well. I thought that was normal.
  19. I have had that problem too. It takes a while for the engine to start. Like it's choking. I think it's coz the battery is small and doesn't provide enough power to start the engine. That was what I was told by a fren. Could be wrong though. About the timing, I thought you can adjust the timing. From memory, someone here said that when the ECU was changed the timing should have been adjusted to 24 degrees. The stock ECU was 21 degrees. Doesn't that mean that the timing can be adjusted?
  20. I feel you Netz I'm going through the same problem. I have other issues with the car but I can't be botherred telling them as I don;t have any faith in them anymore. There is no point in telling them when they can't fix it anyway. I'm getting to the point where I wanna give it all up and slamming it into a wall. :o
  21. This is a problem with most of us here. I've been having that problem since day1 and I've now got 15000km on the clock. I don;t think it will go away as some have suggested to wear it in. It feels like it totally locks up until the revs drops below lift zone. I'm reluctant to drag some cars because of this problem. It really sh#ts me. I'm gonna tray changing the transmission oil to fully synthetic as some one here suggested and see how that goes.
  22. I have been thinking about what oil to use and wondering what U guys use for your oil. I have been using Mobil 1 in my previous car However some people say that using very thin oil can damage the engine instead. What do you guys think? Also what does 10w 30 mean? Mobil 1 is 5w 50. VVTI Toyota oil is 10w 30. What's the best choice?
  23. Yeah they normally do charge you for the oil filter and oil. I think it was about $60 all up for me to change the oil at my first 1000k service. You are lucky to get it for free. ;)
  24. OK Guys I just got my car back Thursday. Some of the problems have been fixed after speaking to the service manager. The rattle in the glove box has been fixed after 3 attempts. The knocking on the front left suspension has been fixed with replacing the suspension and it seems to fix the problem again after 3 attempts. Now the only problem left is this rattle or some sort of pinging noise when accelerating. They still have not fixed it since the replacement of the gear selector cable. They have replaced the thrust bearing already but it didn't make any difference. The noise is consistent all the way to 8000RPM, at this point it turns into a hissing noise at high revs. I've called Toyota Customer relations and complained to them about the level of service at my dealership. It always takes at least 3 attempts to fix any problems big or small. I don't think they take me seriously. I've advised them of some possible solutions that some people here on the forum have done to fix certain issues and to give it a try. They just shrug it off like I don't know what I'm talking about. Like for eg. The knocking on left suspension, I've told them to replace the suspension a few months ago which seemed to have worked for some of us but they say "Nope, It's not a faulty suspension". Now that it has been replaced the noise has gone away. Why do these mechanics always assume that we don;t know what we are talking about.??? I've spoken to customer relations and have organised for a field technician to come out to my dealer on Wed 23th Oct. I will discuss this with him and see what he has to say about it. For all those who might have similar problems stay tuned for the outcome.
  25. Your not the only one rollagrl. I've been in and out of Toyota numerous times almost every 2nd or 3rd week. I've only had the privilege to drive my car for half the time since I bought it which was back in November last year. At the moment it's still at Toyota getting the thrust bearig replaced. Also getting vibrations fixed and I still have the problem with vibrations in the dash area at 4 - 5K RPM even after the gear selector cable was replaced. I also get a knock sound in the front left suspension when turning right. Toyota say that they don;t know where the noise is coming from. I've been in and out of Toyota at least 20 times and this is no joke. I don;t think anyone has been to their dealer more than that. :P I;m thinking about changing service departments. Can we bring our cars to another service center and dump the problem onto another dealer? Do you think they will deal with teh problem if it has already been looked at by another service department?
