  1. Is there an award for the worst Stivo??? I will definitely win in that category. I want my Trophy!!! :P
  2. I'm pretty sure they replaced the gear selector cable because it wouldn;t be making more noise than it did before. I also got a new gear knob as well. It is definitley louder and more noisier. Why would they wanna change the thrust bearing when the problem has nothing to do with the clutch. It's only when accelerating that the rattle/ szzle noise occurs.
  3. Quicksilver I undertsand that the noise when accelerating is apparently normal however this noise has increased significantly since the replacement of the gear selector cable. The noise is heard when all windows are up and you can hear a definite sizzle or rattle noise in teh engine. It never use to be this loud. You can also hear it at high revs which is a higher pitch sizzling noise. Do you think this is the thrust bearing? Because this is what Toyota will replace for me on Thursday. Could it be something else? I just wish they can get it right this time as everything they do never seems to fix anything. Even the new gear selector cable did not make the buzzing noise in the CD dash go away. Hope I can get everything fixed this time. I think I have got the worst Stivo ever made.
  4. The car will be going in for a major check as I have had problems regarding the gear selector cable since day one and gone back numerous times. i went for a spin with the service manager as well and he f*cking couldn;t hear anything which is bullsh#t. I also went for a spin with a senior mechanic. he actually heard the sizzling and slight buzzing noise from the dash however he says there's not much he can do as they are the revised gear selector cables. I was wondering if anyone has any issues after the cables were replaced as I don;t seem to be having any luck with the new cables. What they will be doing for me now is order new thrust bearings which I don't have a clue what that is but I hope it will fix it. Does anyone know what thrust bearings do?. I have the car booked in for next Thursday as I will have to wait for the new parts. Also getting the vibration in the glovebox fixed as well. This is the third time that they are attempting to fix the rattling glovebox. I really want to take my car to a different service department as these guys seem to know jack sh#t. Can I actually take my car for warranty repairs at another service department or do I have to take it to the guys I bought it from?
  5. i've got similar noises as well. I've been getting this noise since day 1. It's a rattle or sizzling noise when accelerating. It also occurs when you down shift. I have raised this issue with Toyota but we took another Stivo for a run and that had the same noise. Now when I got my gear selector cable replaced the noise is now 5 times worst. the noise is unbearable. I have booked the car in for Thursday and see if they can find out what the problem is. I'll let u guys know what they say.
  6. if your Stivo falls in the date of manufacture where the recall mods are required to be done then they will send you the letter. I suggest you contact your dealer to find out. The gear selector cable will only be replaced on cars that have the rattle/vibration problems. :D
  7. I'm another one who has the same problem with the shocks. When I turn right, I hear a knock on the front left suspension. i have been to Toyota 3 times telling them about it and each time they say that they could not see where the prob is. We went for test drives and the mechanic acknowledges the noise but each time could not find out where it's coming from. Since the recall mods I am getting rattles even more on the passenger door, glove box and CD deck. :( i will be taking it back next week and see what they can do.
  8. Yekim..try this solution. Hold the button down until the window goes all the way down. The pull it up until the window winds back up again. Don;t let go of the switch when you do it. That should fix it up. This happened to me when I was getting my auto windup done. Give that a try and let me know how it goes. :D
  9. Just went to Toyota and asked about the cables. They still don;t know anything about the new fix for it. They won;t be ordering anything for me until they get a notice from Toyota about the new gear selector cables. :( Got my car booked for next Thursday for the recall mods.
  10. Someone here had theirs changed so whoever that is, if you got the part number can you please tell us so we can tell the Toyota guys to order it. They can't deny it if we show them the part number. Cheers :D
  11. I rocked up to my dealer yesterday and told them about the recall. They seem to know nothing about it and said to wait for a letter. I even brought a print out of the recall site and showed them. These guys are so slow in everything they do so I wanted to get their ***** moving. I told them to chase it up and order the parts for me so I can get it done ASAP including the gear selector cable. They said they will call me later in the afternoon when they find out more info about it but guess what.....NEVER GOT A CALL.! I got the letter last night though and I'll be bringing it in on Thursday and give em **** for not taking initiative to find out what is going on with their cars. Surely if they work for Toyota service they should have the heads up on what's going on. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
  12. Sorry to hear that dude. :( I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happen with my Stivo. I find that the whole car is fragile with all the rattles and vibrations and that. My engine doesn;t sound too healthy either. I find that when it idles the whole car shivers and vibrates. Does anyone have that problem?
  13. That is weird....They tell me it canot be done, I was there for hours when they were trying ti install it. If anyone is thinking of doing it please let me know what the outcome is. The guys I went to might be a **** electrician.
  14. Trust me...I've already had Toyota electrician look at it. We tried to install the automatic windows but because the Stivo has a different setup to other cars. The drivers side window is on it's own which doesn't work when you install the automatic window module. The guy modified the module inside the driver's side door, had to pull it all out and change something in the circuit board that controls the switches. In the end he got it to work but it stuffs up all the time. The windows go down halfway and stops. Then it would stop working altogether. In the end we just had to scrap it and have only the other windows go up automatically and the driver's side needs to be manually closed. I know coz I have first hand experience in dealing with this. It cannot be done. If your content with only 3 windows then go for it. ;)
  15. Can we make it 9pm on Saturday. I will definitely be up for that as I finish work at 8.15pm. I haven't been to any meets yet and I would love to see u guys. Not that I'm gay or anything...LOL
  16. Yes I got mine done. I advise not to do it as I had problems with my windows after that. U cannot do it to the driver's side window. the modulator does not allow u to do it for some reason. All the other windows work though. So my driver's side window has to be manually closed. If you do decide to get it done, don;t touch the driver's side window because the modulator needs to be modified and that stuffs everything up. I had to disconnect the driver's side window for it to work properly again.
  17. My issues are: - rattles in the dash, glove box, gear selector cable - reverse braking - dodgy gear box (can't change in high revs) - ticking noise under car when idling. - sizzling noise when accelerating (like it's pinging) - engine noise (ticking/knocking) - engine almost stalls when starting car (drops to 500RPM and almost stalls, then goes back to 1500RPM) - knockig noise on the front left suspension when turning right That's it for now. Hopefully there won;t be other probs that arises.
  18. About the wheels....I would go to Toyota and get a quote from them and send that off to the Insurance company. Take a few photos of the damaged wheels as proof. They might send out an assessor to assess the damages as well. Goodluck mate! :)
  19. I agree Totally with Xoom. I am in the process of making a claim from the other Insurance company, not my Insurance comany. The best thing to do Mee is to call the truck company and try and get their Insurance company details so U can give them a call. Also try and get their policy number as they will ask for it. U may also get the Truck company to call their Insurance company as well. The Insurance company will get you to write a letter explaining exactly what happened and may ask for some proof. Take some photos of the damage just in case. Then U'll have to go and get a couple of quotes from at least 2 Panel beaters and send it off to the Insurance comany. In a few days or weeks you'll get the cheque from them depands on how fast the process it. I'm going through exactly the same thing as you guys at the moment. My car got hit by an automatic gate that closed by itself as I was driving through. Scraped the back of my car. I called my Insurance company GIO and explained to them and was told that I would be charged an excess fee of $450 and lose 20% no claim bonus. If it's not your fault then the other Insurance company should pay for it so there is no need to contact your Insurance company at all. The only time that you contact your Insurance company is when you are going to make a claim through them. It doesn't matter who is driving the car at the time because it was the truck driver's fault. Everything must go through their Insurance company. Hope this info will help you out. Seems like a lot of Stivos are getting into accidents lately. It must be this time of the year or something...or maybe the Stivos are jinxed...
  20. Damn! That must hurt man! I feel for yah! I'd be crying if that happened to my baby. I also had a slight accident with my gate last night where it closes automatically as I was driving into the drive way. It closed on me and scraped the back of my car. Huge scratch on back guard. I'm spewing!. Not as bad as yours though. U should claim compo for the whip lash!
  21. http://www.twincam.org/forums/index.php?sh...084&hl=sportivo This is what people think of our forum. It's quite funny. caution: U might not like what they say. Just thought u might be interested in what people think of our forum. Cheers
  22. If the scracth is not a deep scratch and there is no chip off the paint, then the best thing to do is get cut and polish and polish it up. Try mcGuires product. They're the best. :D
  23. Don't tell me it includes those mad looking bucket seats. I'l be spewing!!!! :o Why can't we have those in our cars!!! :P
  24. Srr: yeah I've been there since 11.30. Hope I didn;t get a fine?. :o What time u leaving tonight? I leave at 10pm. Maybe we can meet up?
