  1. I think he better try the low king first and see how that go. Then he should find out why Eibach is superior compared to Kings. Bottom line, more often than not, you really get what you paid for.
  2. Ride height does to a certain extent. You do need to keep enough stroke length to maintain contact with the surface over uneven ground to avoid topping and bottoming out. If you have ever hit the bump stops you'll know about it! Suspension is a dynamic system changes in one area can affect performance in another area. It is more complex than it is given credit for. If it could be measured in kW then I'm sure it would be more popular. How come the suspension & brakes section isn't as active as this thread? Most people just ask "whats the best suspension?" so there are about a thousand answers.. i had a specific question about a specific style of suspension.. gives people a topic rather than a feild. makes for a good conersation rather than a list of scenarios. Thanks for taking the time to answer SD, I'm currently happy with the setup i have, but have always wondered what it would be like to use the Progressive LOWS in the rears. I'm gonna bite the bullet and either buy some lows or swap the super lows out... and give it a red hot go. You mention your front is set 10 - 15mm lower than the rear, would that denote your best (so far) handling geometry for track use? I'm not asking you to tell me whats best for me, just what you've experienced. DANZZT231 : I've got a good setup in my car, so i'm just asking how i can improve it. and for what its worth, Coilovers are just height and damper adjustable spring and shocker combo. As i dont require constant tweaking of my setup every week, or day, or whatever, i am happy to buy a product and let it do its thing. Also Superlow DO scrub if you have the wrong offset wheels... as i have personal experience with a 17X7+40 offset wheel and a 215 wide tyre scrubbing on my car. best curb your enthusiasm on such a topic if you dont have experience. Sorry, I missed his 17x8 wheels option. But I used to have a Corolla and I dropped it for about 4inches. I was running 17x7 +42, 215/40/17. No rubbing for day to day, full steering turns lock to lock. No problems. Car full of passenger, no problems too. I used coilover though ;) But in general, super low isn't even that low anyway. for me at least. and others. You seems to dislike coilover huh? Nonetheless, I did recommended you to get low king for your rear. But if you want to have freedom to tune your height tuning then you have to go for coilover. And what makes you think having coilover means you have to tweak it everyday? I know I didn't tweak it everyday, but I can if I wanted to especially if I think there is an adjustment to be made. Like now, if you have coilover you won't have problem choosing your ride height for performance ;) What do you seek to improve from your current suspension set-up anyway?
  3. Maybe just go low kings all round. Then since you are thinking to get KYB, you can manipulate the weight distribution by the damper adjust the shock provide. One thing for sure, the car by the center chassis should not be lower at the back. You don't measure by the fender gap just in case. And none of the Kings resulted with the chassis leaning backwards anyway. This is the simplest way, and it can get complex if you decided to venture more into it. But If height for performance is your concerns, you need coilover so you can get corner weight adjustment. But you don't have to. Since we are on the topic, I just share with you guys my height setting for my Celica across 4 corners within 15mm possible height adjustment range; between highest and lowest settings: Front right - Maximum height Front left - Near lowest height Rear right - Maximum height Rear left - near Maximum height. Fender gap difference between front and rear - 1.5cm, rear having less gap. Fender gap between left and right are equal for both front and rear The car leans forward as it was when it was standard, handling is neutral and the car is way more balanced. It's like having all 4 corners with ample strokes between each other. Previously the car was lowered equal lowest height at the front, and equal 2/3 lowest for the rear. The car is leaning to the right. Before I have swaybars I set all 4 corners to its lowest and I thought that was awesome until now. And alignment plays a big factor in suspension dynamics. But let's keep the topic within height for now. Settings above is me working with the limitations of my coilover; the fact that it is non-adjustable damper. But regardless, height balance plays a great role in chassis dynamic anyway. I hope this helps.
  4. I wonder how firm it gets, and at which point it will firm up. I better wikipedia it.
  5. Sounds like it is more expensive than the Koni Sport.
  6. Thanks DANZZT231, looks like I do have a winner. Good luck with the GT. Is it the 6cyl or the 4cyl you have? I still get goose bump each time I remembered the Alfa 3.2 V6 from 156/147 GTA.
  7. I think it's still quite a long way until they can domintate F1 world title. It's sad to see Honda left the F1 championship, they have strong history and was once dominating the championship, with Senna on board. Since then, I wonder what happened to them. Japanese manufacturers are capable of winning races, but somehow they seems to unable to top the Europeans. We saw this in WRC also, where are the mighty Mitsubishi and Subaru? And Toyota? And now the Paris Dakar seems to be the case also with Mitsubishi Pajero having tough time winning. I was watching Jeremy Clarkson's documentary about Japanese car manufacturer who used to dominate the world with their reliability and powerful efficient engine. Back then European cars just can't keep up, but throughout the years the European manufacturer learn their lessons from the Japanese; while the Japanese manufacturers seems to be stagnant. I find that to be true. But now Nissan is making a big comeback, so does Mazda. Toyota seems to be more comfortable in civilian car market. Honda as always, the Alfa Romeo of Japan in terms of passions for performance, produce high spirited engine but needs more breakthrough. Mitsubishi is crawling up, and so is Subaru. So, if any of you really keen to see GT-4 comeback, spam Toyota with e-mails and commitment to buy ;)
  8. Koni Sport - Yellow, adjustable damper Koni Special - Red, non adjustable damper Koni FSD - Gold, adaptive damper
  9. No idea. Koni normal sells for $1000+
  10. IS-F is to push Lexus's image from grandpa car to hotrod dad car. And yet, even they don't have anymore plan for F series, other than the LF-A. Still, the LF-A have the looks of a proper supercar and if they did put in the very same V10 they use in Nurburgring under that long bonnet it sure is a Super Lexus. However, I read they will put in V8 instead. It must be the very same V8 found in the IS-F but perhaps with more aggressive tune. So I think Toyota is still reluctant to bring back its sports image, maybe they will after they become successful in F1. And sales aren't doing well either.
  11. Are you going to restore or turn it into Retro? Lately I'm into Retro and restorations, so I am keen to see how this project goes! Good luck!
  12. Koni Gold = Koni FSD Its casing is in gold colour. I'm very keen to feel how this shock absorber is.
  13. Of course they have http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&...Shock-Absorbers so ring up koni dealer and tell them.
  14. Some of the early members should remember TRD_141 with his twin-muffler (I think its actualy a RedBack muffler), two-tone colour Sportivo. That car fly. And the fact that he doesn't seems to really give a s**t whether or not is making power, he somehow did it.

  16. Cusco's design is much better for lowering the car. P.S -My mate's TEIN SS for his Evo 7 is magnificent, and if not mistaken its AUS version.
  17. About 3 years ago Fulcrum quoted me for TEIN SS and it cost nearly the same as buying Cusco Zero 2, and I asked why and they said they re-valved it when it arrived from Japan to suit Australian road so it doesn't wear out prematurely - something TEIN SS is known for.
  18. There's DMS for sale on the sale section too~!
  19. Yeah that would look alright... the faux carbon fibre blade Or you could just take it off... i'm with BKS - if you aren't turning it into a track weapon, then there's no need for such a huge object on the back of your car. Well I had a thought last night. Since I can swap the wings whenever I wanted to, I'll put the standard low wing for the street and the TRD for track. Somehow the black wing grows on me, looks like a racer; which is why it doesn't belong on the street. I don't think I'll ever paint it though, looks cool in black. For street car I like it sleek, and that's what the OEM low wing does. It's like looking at race cars with stickers and wild body kit to cheat wind. Looks awesome on the track but looks silly on the street.
  20. If I do keep the TRD Wing I will paint it white except for the mid-blade. Everything else stays as it is as I don't really like carbon bonnet etc etc.
  21. I do want to paint the wheel to this color:
  22. Not quite true. It depends on the car and suspension setting. And you are right about the level of speed to reach aerodynamic effect is very high. Would be useful on the track this. But for now, I'm just interested to know if its working. With Celica there is a sensation of 'floating' at the back when going around corner at high speed. Weight distribution of the car from memory is 61/39 so its very light at the back. And, if you ever driven a Celica you will notice the rear can be very nervous and can let go any moment if you go in too hot - too fast. This is the normal behaviour of Celica. Although I can stop the float by lowering the rear suspension to the max, but this causes the front to lift too much. So hopefully the rear wing can stabilize it and plant the rear to the ground better without altering the height of the car. The only way to know is to try it :) Plus the wing is 3-way adjustable too :) However I already put the wing on the market, just in case it doesn't work :)
