  1. Time for another update from me. It appears that since my last update, over the last 8118km I have travelled, my fuel consumption has remained the same. I guess this is a good thing considering that after the same amount of distance, my last Aurion was averaging 11.4l/100km. TRD Fuel Consumption (Excel Spreadsheet) - At 5313km, my total fuel used was 500.99L and my average fuel consumption was 9.43L/100km - At 9532km, my total fuel used was 909.91L and my average fuel consumption was 9.55L/100km - At 17650km, my total fuel used was 1685.71L and my average fuel consumption was 9.55L/100km Man the kilometres are really clocking up on this car. This works out to be an average of 176.5km of driving per day. But this car has driven from Adelaide to Brisbane and from Brisbane to Sydney and back within the last 100 days, so that would have bumped the km's up a bit.
  2. If you're in Brisbane, SuperDave recommended 'The Racing Room' to me. http://www.theracingroom.com.au/pages/searchresults.asp?ArtKeyword=braille http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22416&view=findpost&p=372982 It's mainly so I can easily disconnect and re-connect power from my car while it sits in storage. That's good to hear since the only time my car goes for more than a day without me driving it is when I'm away from home. I guess an isolation switch would be a good idea for it in cases like that. I'll probably end up getting one (larger of course that is the minimum rated for what I need) just because it's something to do I guess. Main reason is so I can get some ducting up to my intake because the battery in there at the moment is massive and blocks the only possible path to bring some ducting in from. I got my from a bloke on the northside, friendly chap, deals mainly with Euro exotica so was surprised to see a Corolla pull up, haha. http://www.theracingroom.com.au/pages/sear...Keyword=braille Mine is the 14115 model, so still has 360 CCA and 15Ah; plenty of kick.
  3. Nup. Doesn't shield much. It's all just to make it look more attractive to the owner.
  4. Mate, no need to get worried. Read the reports properly and then do a little research. The V6 engine that is affected is the 2GR-FSE which is in the Lexus and not used by the Aurion.
  5. You've already done it mate. You differential oil shares your transmission oil. You will find this is the case with a lot of FWD's out there. It's only occasionally on a FWD that you will find the transmission and the differential as a separate unit. Edit: And CONROD below brings up a very valid point. It's all in it's name. You may have read commonly said on the forums here, that we have referred to the Aurion transmission as the U660E Transaxle. Well, like he said, here is the definition of a transaxle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transaxle
  6. Judging from your post count showing '7' and there only being 2 posts currently active under your name, would indicate that the mods have closed your previous threads. You were given advise. No need to keep posting more to ask the same thing. Asking the question you have asked is just like 'For sale' post and is subject to the forum Terms and Conditions. It was said, use CarSales.com.au otherwise search Google for local classifieds you can use. Heck, ask a friend where they would suggest.
  7. Want to prove that it's not just a thin film of oil that's causing it to look like it's not dirty? 1) Get a clean white cloth and wipe the oil from the dipstick onto it. You will find that it's not as clean as it looks. 2) If you're really anal, get a long tube and stick it down the distick tube to about where the dipstick sits. Using a syringe, draw a few mL of oil out and look at it's colour. I think you will be surprised.
  8. Ideally, you would want the ceramic insulated wire to be at the very bottom. The reason for this is that it casts a very slight shadow towards the reflective surface inside the lamp holder. If the shadow is cast downwards, this is not noticed, but if it is cast upwards, that light gets projected towards the ground and you may see a slight shadow there. It's nothing big though. Chances are you won't notice it. If you get what I mean.
  9. Yes it does seem quite funny in a way... but then what if you do said mods to the TRD? Would it still be up front? Yeah, I've had my say in the past about dynos like that, as well as Dynojet Dynos in general. I would love to see what figures they get on a Dyno Dynamics dyno.
  10. Definitely there then.
  11. What day were you thinking of? Saturday or Sunday?
  12. I did actually consider getting a SSV instead of the TRD when it came to getting a replacement car. I think the only thing that stopped me was the fuel bill I would experience. Apart from that, I actually wanted one. All that said, funnily enough I had a dream last night where I sold my TRD and got an SSV. In said dream, the SSV was an uncomfortable car to drive and everything all 'felt' wrong (like way out of proportion) and I actually felt extremely bad that I got rid of my TRD. Then I woke up and realised that the TRD is still in my garage. A sign maybe?
  13. Those ones really really really annoy me as well. The only ones that are worse than that are those that start to pick up speed when the overtaking lane is approaching so that once you get to it, they are going on or even above the speed limit. When you've got a power advantage though, this doesn't really matter too much in the end, but it's getting more risky as I've seen a fair few cops starting to hide at the end of an overtaking section of road ready to catch those who spped up a bit to overtake such example mentioned above.
  14. So you reckon I should try to find a Corolla Sportivo hire car :P
  15. Only just saw this one now. Seriously, how can you call someone a moron simply because they choose to reverse park? Where would it say that proper etiquette states that you should not reverse park? People can feel free to park how they want. Are you seriously in that much of a rush that you can't wait the extra seconds that it takes for them to park... because I can't see how this would affect you otherwise. On a side note... I reverse park into EVERY parking space unless conditions make this impossible or pointless (angle parking etc). I personally find it easier to reverse park because your trailing wheels are the ones that do the steering and that's what makes it easier for me. On the topic of reverse parking, I hate those idiots that are following you through a car park and when you indicate to show you are going to take a spot, they continue to ride your a** when you drive past the space on the other side of the 'lane' (clearly showing you will reverse park), therefore making it annoying to reverse park. Edit: Wow, that turned out a bit longer than required. Shows how slow the day is going.
  16. My old man always used to tell me that you don't need to do it up with a Tarzan's grip like lots of mechanics out there. Usually another 1/2 turn after the gasket makes contact does the trick. Most filters specify an amount and have this written on the filter itself. Usually it will be never be more than 2/3 of a turn after gasket contact, but I like to have 1/2 turn as the maximum.
  17. I haven't got the time yet to upload all 150MB or so of terrain files, but in the time it would take me to do such a thing, surely you can search from them online. Before that Austech site, I used to find all my iG08 stuff by Googling and searching though forums and the like.
  18. That's a good Photoshop. I like it... especially when lowered of course.
  19. I'd certainly be up for it. Nothing beats a god 'ol BBQ. Gotta be able to catch him first.
  20. And so many people here were telling me I should have gotten a black TRD.
  21. The following is my own opinion and just that. In response to the above, I personally think things like LIDAR detectors are a waste of money. Some like the well reputed Valentine One say that they are good for detection against LIDAR due to their ability to detect the laser reflections off other cars etc. Those things are highly focused and I reckon you would have to be lucky to detect a reflection before getting caught. I can say from experience that those LIDAR's are pretty damn fast at getting a speed reading now. I got booked once when going around a sweeping bend in the road and the cop put his lights on faster than I could drop 5km/h meaning he read my speed really quick. That said, the above only really applies to handheld LIDAR etc. If there is a mobile speed camera on the road, you will probably see it before the detector does, and by the time it picks it up, you'd probably be done if you were over the limit. At the end of the day, if you think it's a good investment, then by all means go for it. Just remember that there are usually fines involved if you are caught with one (outside of WA). For example, in Queensland, the fine is something like $3000. The cheapest option though would be to stick to the speed limit. With all that said... the video's they have on their website are pretty convincing.
  22. Damn those cars (especially the Camry) are so tidy. It's like they just rolled out of the showroom.
  23. Yeah... if you want a mod to close it for you. Try Carsales.
  24. I remember when I first had a ride in a Sportivo (thanks to Andy - BKS) at the Melbourne Annual Meet. Damn that felt so much more sharper than my Aurion at the time. The size of the car I think made it feel so much better. Plus the fact it felt more solid on the road whereas my Aurion was a bit 'insulated'.
