[BNE] Boostcruising cruise tonight the 14th
DJKOR replied to ELEGNT's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
LOL. Just to show it's not an ordinary family car. On the plus side, I feel safer in that I would be less prone to be picked up by cops amongst others there. I'm rotating my tires as we speak. Ima get my value out of them. Edit: Got the thread link? I can't seem to find it. Edit 2: Found it after I registered. -
[BNE] Boostcruising cruise tonight the 14th

I'd gladly go. I'm getting new tires tomorrow so wouldn't mind driving out whatever is left of the ones on there. I just need to rotate them in a moment cause the rears have got that little bit more meat on them. So would you go? I'm a definite if you are. -
All good. Why thank you. I like to think I'm still young. Somewhat never feels that way anymore though. And in keeping with the thread purpose, I was going to post another photo... but then realised; I don't really have anymore of me that are decent. I hate photos of myself.

Mate; you are bloody brilliant. Those look fantastic. I would love to get my paintwork to a mirror finish again. I really need the patience.

I haven't had that issue lately, but I have drawn the conclusion that it is the phone itself when that happens. My old Sony Ericsson would get to a point where it would never connect automatically. What I did was delete the profile on the phone for 'CAR KIT', then turn both the head unit and phone off, then turn it all on again. After that, I would add the head unit profile to the phone again and give it full permission. That resolved my problem, not sure if it will solve yours. My new HTC Diamond works flawlessly with this unit. Hmmm. Try my answer to number one firstly. The only issue I get is that everything happens in this order. 1) My phone starts ringing, 2) The music then goes mute, 3) The head unit switches to the bluetooth mode, 4) After about 5 seconds of my phone initially ringing, a tone is then output through the head unit, 5) I answer the phone, and need to wait 3-5 seconds before I can talk. It's really a big difference to other bluetooth units. Before this in my old Camry, I had a Pioneer bluetooth unit; that thing was the bomb. It instantly switched to bluetooth mode with no lag and when the call ended, the music started up immediately. I guess that's the difference with quality. Can't help you there. That option is in the phone and not the head unit.

Yeah, the percentage figure is the amount of light transmittance through the window tint, ie. 35% means that 35 percent of the light that is directed at it is able to go through. As for the rear window tinting issue, that's what I thought as well and that's where it gets a little sketchy. It's hard to locate the actual document that goes through the specific standards. Insurance wise, if you have an illegal modification done to your car (in which tinting is a modification), that has the potential to void your insurance. As well, it is a sketchy subject.

That I can't make any comment on. I've never had that issue. Could be your phone as well; just a theory. Eg. My old Sony Ericsson's, sometimes the audio never got routed to the head unit. This is the case with any phone on this unit if you answer before it completely switches to bluetooth mode, but this was occurring even after that. With my new HTC Diamond, I have had no issues except for that if you answer before it completely initialises to bluetooth, your audio is all routed though the handset.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)
DJKOR replied to Danthuyer's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
Well since this is already rolling, I shall be there tomorrow night as per usual. I finally get my Adrenalins put on. Only issue is that I start work at 12:30pm and have them put on not long before hand; barely have any time to test them out. -
Yeah. That's one of the things that annoys me with the unit. Goes something like this. I get a call, unit doesn't switch to bluetooth mode completely for at least 5 seconds, then when I press answer, I have to wait 3-5 seconds before I can say hello. Epic lag. My radio is just as good as the one that was in there before I swapped it. I remember BlueAurionSX6 had an issue with his where quote: You should probably email Rob. Only suggestion there is either take it back and ask them to tidy the cords a bit better, or the only other way is what I would do and that is pull it out and look for the culprit cables myself.

The replacement tires must have a minimum load rating of '93' and speed rating of 'V'. That translates to a tire that can handle 650kg and a 10 minute stable speed of 240km/h.

I would have to agree with BKS here. Not trying to be mean or anything, but it's just more appropriate in some cases. MySpace and Blogger are a good place to start. Yes this is the club lounge where you can talk about anything, but usually when making a post, one would think first about the audience that it is going to reach. This audience consists of people that are into cars and being a forum that discusses cars in every other thread, you would think that topics along the lines of an individual's personal life wouldn't gain as much popularity. If you ask a question about V8's and drifting, of course you will get some worthless answers in return. I would have just opened Google and read up about the two if I didn't already know how it all worked. Your question if you absolutely had to ask it would have been suited to the 'Stupid Question Thread'. It only really needed one true answer.

Ouch man. I can feel your pain. It then becomes more of a nuisance having an issue fixed that should never had to be done in the first place. Some people on the road these days makes you wonder how they got their licence. You can be a great driver and all, but then you face the tougher challenge of avoiding these hopeless drivers.

Regardless of the car, silver on black works almost every time. It's clear and it's classy.

Hatch can not lift up =.="
DJKOR replied to prettyisamuel's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Some hatch backs have a lever inside the car and no handle on the hatch itself. I got caught up in my past hatchback experience. -
Yeah, I am planning on getting a set those in 19 inch for my Aurion from Ozzy as well cause they have them on sale.

Hatch can not lift up =.="
DJKOR replied to prettyisamuel's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
As in you can lift it up yourself but: a) it (the hatch) takes a bit of force, and b) it (the hatch) doesn't stay up? If that's the case, your gas struts appear to be stuffed. You can get either replacements, or have them reconditioned (eg: http://www.strutregas.com.au/). Edit: After I posted this answer, you edited your post... in that case disregard my above answer. New response: So when you put the key in and turn clockwise, does the key turn smoothly? If you turn the key as far as you can clockwise then pull up on the hatch (give it a hard yank as this can happen), does it still stay locked shut? What happens when you pull the inside lever? -
i didnt think the capsuls had doors. They don't. They just have pull down blinds like this, no locks and minimal privacy:
-
True, I didn't think of that. Maybe that wasn't in the consideration due to her budgeting. As for sketra snapping, I think that was at no fault of anyone but herself. Her general attitude around isn't the best. In this thread, all BKS said was: To which she called him a <etc, ect>. Not called for in my opinion.
-
Not sure if this kinda fits the bill but:
-
Yeah, nothing wrong with auto's for everyday use. Well she was originally thinking of a 3S-GTE which only has a manual box attached. The advise to get her to consider a manual licence was primarily due to her engine considerations. If she really wanted the 3S-GTE, she would have to gain confidence to learn a manual. It is like what TRIPPER said, "You will be amazed at the things you can accomplish when you really set your mind to it". Anyways, the thread got out of hand once sketra snapped at BKS after he asked a simple question. That was the point where the everything prior was then ignored and the topic had its focus from that point onwards. If you ain't considerate, why bother helping anymore.
-
The discussion was going in two directions. The way I saw it heading after Silly-Karr and Hiro was not the fact of making her car an auto, but more of the fact of obtaining a manual licence for scenarios that may call on it. Ultimately that is her choice, but we were proving opinions and then advice after she stated her difficulty with trying to learn a manual. As for the auto and speed of shifting discussion, firstly, the Aurion DOES NOT shift quickly. I'm pretty sure everyone on the Aurion board would agree with that statement as well. My sister's Mazda 3 shifts faster. As for affordability, yes VW has managed to get the DSG into the affordable range, but it is still too much for other manufactures to consider using at this point, so that is an exception to the rule. On a side note, B&D Forecast (Germany) did some research and found that Toyota on average makes a profit of $2,800 AUD on each car sold whereas VW makes a profit of about $535 AUD per car sold. When companies are making a good profit and no-one is requiring that extra performance, then they can keep doing what they are doing and that's where even though it's technically affordable, there won't be an electronically controlled manual box in most passenger cars.
-
There is still a difference mate. With the passenger cars such as the Aurion coming in automatic only, it's due to market trends and not performance. You're everyday driver out there is looking for something that is simple to drive. The automatic transmission does just that. I'm not sure if you picked up on the quite obvious key point that Hiro Protagonist was getting at, and that is he is discussing a passenger car built for driving everyday on local roads. Sure you will have high performance automatics like the high end BMW's, the Ferrari's, Lamborghinis, and F1 cars, but those are a manual box with electronically controlled clutches and gear shifts. Yes, they are automatic because they can shift faster than a human can, but in the scenario a) the equipment costs more and B) these are built for high performance. You're not going to have a car company spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to produce an automatic-manual gearbox simply because that would be plain stupid. As a result, the auto boxes you get in these cars may actually shift slower than a human could on the same car with a manual box, plus they are paired with torque converters which produce loses as well (remembering in the performance scenario in the last paragraph, those performance vehicles are paired with an actual clutch that is controlled electronically). You say...
-
Close but not quite. The Holden Apollo was the result of the button car plan and badge-engineering. Toyota got the Lexcen in return.
-
In this scenario, you aren't going to be doing your usual wheel rotations. It's best to stick with the same tire all round to keep uniformity if your front and rear rims are identical. As well, why spend extra to have the rear tires of a FWD wider than the front.

+1. That TRD badge in the centre of the fuel tank cap stands out like a sore thumb. It's like one of those warning labels that come on something new and is removed immediately.
