  1. If you build your angel eyes using LED's like in the above link, you can greatly reduce the chance of them breaking. The CCFL ones have a tendency to break easily especially with vibration. LED's on the otherhand are pretty hardy.
  2. Depends. The Toyota Advantage service package is an extra that they offer when the car is purchased. You can find out by asking your local Toyota service department. They can look it up with your VIN. I got mine at an auction and unfortunately the previous owner didn't take up that offer.
  3. Usually you only void the warranty for the components that you changed over. In this case you will void any suspension related warranty that you have as well as the exhaust. The exhaust is the killer though. As it forms part of the engine, modifying that will most likely void you entire engine warranty. When it comes to repairs, they will try to find any excuse to make you pay.
  4. Looks great. I'm using it now. Thanks a lot bok. I was really looking for a nice background. My creative skills are pretty bad and even a simple photoshop job for me turns out bad. If only there was a way we could do that. Unfortunately I don't know how to hack the firmware on this thing.
  5. I think what he meant was that he can see the original parker light housing there but they are not using that, and using the halos instead. The question is: would you still be able to use the original parkers? You never know; just because it is there, doesn't mean it's functional.
  6. the aurion uses a different type of oil filter... the casing is re-usable, so why you would damage that if you didnt absolutely have to is beyond me... Lol. I'd love to see someone manage to shove a screwdriver through the oil filter cap on the Aurion. Speaking of which though, you if you plan on doing the oil change yourself, you're best obtaining a cap-style oil filter wrench like this: http://www.toolsource.com/toyota-filter-wr...m-p-100298.html
  7. That is probably the same one that SqueezeMe got. Check it out over at "Aurion ZR6 with Grill =)". Probably try sending him a PM to find out how you can get one.
  8. Wow. I was seriously doubting how well the JDM style headlights would look on the Aurion. That looks pretty hot. If the price is right, I wouldn't mind buying them. I'd rather buy a set that I can swap with so that: a) I don't mess with the originals, and b ) I have a replacement set just in case.
  9. I'm guessing that reset button is just like any PDA and is a 'soft reset'. It is essentially just like a PC restart. On this unit however, you do lose any saved radio/TV stations when you do so. That's why I unplugged the power to hopefully perform a 'hard reset'. Still no settings change as well. Either way, I'm glad that Rob was able to source out the information to be able to resolve the issue. What I find strange is that the item title and the eBay attached images differ from the complete description of the product (Corolla unit). Also as well, the one for the Corolla shown is completely different to the Auspack unit. If someone were to bid, I would be careful.
  10. I thought the exact same thing. Once the problem occurred, I went through every possible scenario. It's just that after playing with the unit and also looking through the manual, there was mention of that specific setup menu. Rob was only able to find out about it after talking to the manufacturer. I just didn't expect that in an embedded device, the LCD to interface through a format such as S-Video. My final thought was just a corrupted firmware having trouble with the menu pages. Not something hard to doubt when we are talking about Windows here. Ye I know it's CE which can be pretty stable; but Windows will always be Windows.
  11. Well, lucky I didn't get my head unit sent off yet. I was originally meant to send it off on Monday, but my mate (who organised the purchase) is having difficulty locating the receipt. So I check my inbox a few moments ago and get the following advise from Rob, which I think I should post here for future reference: I quickly ran downstairs and followed the instructions (by following the remote presses), and with a cheer of joy, my head unit is back to normal. I am one happy guy again.
  12. Yeah, I broke all four clips as well. Was quite the opposite of happy when one, then two, then three and four broke. It was more annoying trying to shake the broken plastic out the boot lid. I'm guessing probably due to the fact that it wasn't intended to be removed, they used a more solid clip. I couldn't be bothered to get replacement clips so I placed some silicon in the holes and the remaining center part of the clip was enough to hold to the silicon.
  13. I don't think that anyone out there has "leaked" the Aurion service manual. I think the only reason why the 07 Camry service manual is out there is because someone out there from Toyota USA was nice enough to let a copy of it go into the wild. In the meantime, the closest you are going to get to the Aurion service manual are the 07 Camry ones available at: "Camry Stuff - Gen6 Manuals"
  14. I don't think any Aurion owners out there have attempted that modification. You also have the possibility that you don't seal it 100% and end up with condensation in it. A few guys over at Toyota Nation have done it to their Camry's. There are a few threads on it over there. One such write-up is at: "DIY: taking apart headlights". Cracking open the Aurion headlight assembly would be pretty much the same. The procedure is pretty much self explanatory once you crack the headlight assembly open.
  15. You're not the only one that thinks that. I reckon that everything from the cab back looks like a design failure.
  16. One rattle I forgot to mention is the front passenger seatbelt. Nothing that one can easily fix, just a design flaw. If you are driving without a passenger in the front, the seatbelt buckle keeps knocking against the plastic trim. Kind of annoys me sometimes.
  17. When I referred to reset, I did mean the little button on the upper right; the one you need a paper clip/pin to press. It resets every setting (except for the NAVI settings) but the problem remains. I have also had the power removed from it overnight for 10 hours + and that didn't seem to help either. I will be sending it back tomorrow.
  18. Hope you aren't complaining about your supercharger, lol. That's one sound I would love to have.
  19. Well after posting the photo and video to Rob, he has suggested the best way is if I can send it back to them with my installers receipt for them to assess. I will pull it out first thing in the morning, send it express, and hope for the best. hope it doesnt happen to mine ,,got mine from rob 2 weeks ago but havent installed it yet. how old is your unit? FAT I got my unit on the 21st of June. It arrived in the week before that (it was a present). This is one of the ones with the updated firmware since it doesn't have the beeps whenever you press the buttons like what was reported here earlier. This problem started on the 26th; just 5 days of use. All I did was play video files from a USB disc. I did have some music files on the disc as well, and the glitch occurred when I reached the end of the videos and it automatically changed to the folder of music.

    My Ride

Those are some nice rims. I was actually considering those not too long ago. I feel like steering away from them now that you have them. What state are you in?
  22. I get squeaks in my dash pad but thats only when I go over decent bumps. Under smooth driving and small bumps, it's fine. I listen to my music fairly loud which is good at making any sounds so I never ever notice it. Also, because of the bass my parcel shelf rattles sometimes, but that is due to myself.
  23. That song that started was ATB - Humanity. The CD that is was on as part of the compilation was 'World Top DJS 2006'. Also, I don't know the song that was on the radio afterwards, but I did a Track ID (thank you Sony Ericsson) and it appears to be 'Nitrogen - Let It Ride'.
  24. Just thought I would post this as I am quite ticked off at the moment. This ordeal started last night when I was seeing if I could play some DivX through the front USB. It sure played the DivX alright. I was watching Nip/Tuck on it, then skipped forward to watch some music videos. Then when I hit the end of the list, things went haywire. The screen went fuzzy and the 'SRC' button was acting as skip forward. I turned the unit off, and when I turned it back on, I got a screen like you can see in the attached photo. Funny thing is, the NAVI menu is perfectly fine and when the reverse camera is enabled, the video from that is perfectly fine. So pretty much every other page except for those two have this garbled up mess. Also, even when the screen is in a mess, the on screen text such as 'volume' come up fine. One interesting thing to note is that the touch screen responds fine. If say I went to the source page and touched the spot where 'TV' is, it will go to TV mode. I have tried resetting numerous times, and having it disconnected from power overnight didn't seem to work either. I've sent a photo to Rob at Auspack awaiting his response. At least in the meantime the unit still has some function to it and it's not yet a brick. Man it's times like these I wish I never tried to play video though its USB port. Click to enlarge: And a video to better demonstrate the problem:
  25. Lol. My old Camry didn't have the gear selector like the Aurion, but didn't stop me from manually selecting gears and down shifting. If you have a 4 speed auto, you can pretty much do the same as the Aurion, just differently. Eg. I would have the selector in drive and over-drive on for 4th, turn over-drive off for 3rd, change the selector to '2' for 2nd, and 'L' for 1st (I never selected that though). Yes I know it is bad for the gearbox (which is why I don't down shift with the gear selector on the Aurion); but that Camry would never give up. After 300,000km, it was still running hard. I swear it ran so much better after I accidentally left it in 2nd and entered the highway up to 115km/h before realising. But yeah, in essence, the Aurion 'S' mode pretty much does the same as that... just with a little more computer control and smoother gear changes.
