  1. I keep seeing this again and again, but all people pay attention to with illegal tints is whether or not they get into trouble with the cops. I'd like to see what happens when you get into an accident (even when you aren't at fault) in the evening and have the insurance company go over your car at an assessment centre. If they pick up on your tints... good luck.
  2. I really wish we were still using the other thread. I was liking how that one was building up. Instead of a meet thread, it has become a Brisbane group discussion thread. Oh yeah, I may not stay out for as long as usual tomorrow. I have an exam on Friday and it is absolutely critical that I pass. I don't want to think about the cost involved should I not pass.
  3. Around 35,000km to 45,000km seems to be the norm with the TRD's. Just because they wear down this quick doesn't necessarily translate to aggressive driving. SupaTouring and SecaBoy both had TRD's which had their rotors wear at the typical rate for these cars and I wouldn't say that their cars were treated badly. Remember, a lot of city driving can easily accelerate the wear as well since there is a lot of start stop. So those first 14,000km your TRD went through may not have been as harsh as you may think. In addition to that, I feel the pads on these 'drag' quite a bit more than what I would call normal. Just go driving slowly next to a wall or something and you can hear the pads dragging on the rotors a little.
  4. 1) The TRD has 245 wide tires and experiences no scrubbing. 2) Others here run that same width and have no issues caused purely by the width of the tire. 3) It's not just the width of the tire that you need to look at. The width of the wheel plays and important part as well, together with the offset of the wheel. 4) You should try to match a suitable width tire to the rim width. Depending on how wide they are, 235 may be more suitable.* 5) Wider tires do not always translate to more grip. * A 245/40R18 tire is best suited for a wheel width of 8-9.5 inches. If your wheel is narrower than 8 inches, a 235/45R18 tire would be better suited. In addition to that, it would affect your speedo less than the 245 tire.
  5. TS-01 style but then get a quality carbon wrap to go over it and see how it goes.
  6. Well today I fitted a K&N Typhoon to my TRD. .... I wish. I fitted it to Hamish's (HAMSTA) Aurion. With my car, I didn't really do much. My current HID's (due to one side occasionally failing to ignite) had experienced a bit of colour shift and was appearing greenish on one side compared to the other. They were 8000k lamps so I decided to change them. I put in a pair of 10,000k lamps hoping for a tint more blue, but as will all CCS HID's, they are about 2000k off the mark. They appear more like 8000k lamps, but meh. What can you do.
  7. Thanks to those that have PM'ed me already and/or paid their deposits. I have removed the list above and placed the list underneath the attendance list on the first page. Link to it is here: If you have expressed interest or would like to attend, please PM me ASAP. I will only reserve a position for you if you pay a $20 as well so if you choose not to pay a deposit, you may or may not be able to get a spot on the day as it will be open to the public as well. Also, if you choose to pay a deposit as you would like to definitely secure a sport, it would be ideal to do this within the next week as I can't make any guarantees of how many spots may be left as the days go by.
  8. name your car
  9. perfect time man. All the bogans are at home watching smashy-smashy! Not necessarily. Was quiet a couple of years back... then they started to pick up on it as well.
  10. Slotted rotors will have no effect on brake fade. You won't loose out on anything really except for different design between the 2000 and 4000 which may have marginally improve cooling. Whether this is sonethin noticeable during street use can be another topic for discussion.
  11. Count me in. Lucky you chose next week because I just filled up and am not driving anywhere anytime soon.
  12. I haven't had a chance to look at it to see their placement so I'm only taking a stab in the dark here, but could it possible have anything to do with transportation of the car, like a tie down point or something?
  13. I believe Dave sold his TRD with the gunmetal ones on them.
  14. My last and current Aurion both disable the alarm when you unlock using the key. Older model Camry's etc used to be the opposite and still keep the alarm on even if you used the key. Are you absolutely positive that the alarm never turned off when you unlocked using the key? Because others here have also reported that it does for them as well.
  15. Despite what you may think, I can't view the forum layout code and design. I have to pass this onto Steve.
  16. I'm having no issues on Firefox 4.0. I am getting ads on images though that are hosted on one of the common photo hosting sites.
  17. I thought I remembered you saying saomgthing about giving me money for that. So you aren't going karting? I'm confused now.
  18. All the best in your endeavours mate. Never really thought anyone here would be able to get a more involved meet than the already existing Thursday night meet-up (which is open for any Toyota and/or TOCAU member old or new), but I have been proved wrong before.
  19. Kingston Park booking has now been booked and secured with a deposit. Could those that have said they are going, please send me a PM (because the forum does not let me view who has voted in the poll) stating that you have put down interest and I will add you to the list. Once you have paid your deposit, I will also update the list. Those that have also not been to Kingston Park in the last year, also advise me so I can note down whether you require the $5.50 license that is valid for a year. I will then send you details so you can pay your deposit via direct deposit or PayPal. Briabane guys can obviously just give me cash at an upcoming Thursday meet.
  20. Good spot. Was about 10:15pm ish or there abouts. Was going home after going ice skating and detoured through that way.
  21. I saw the thread title and thought it was the thread already discussing this: 90,000 service costs ????
