  1. whats the treadwear, traction, temperature rating for the Potenza Adrenlin? any other changes like tyre dimensions or wheel? I am confused by the ratings though the $145 Kumho Solus KH15 that I was unhappy with (mileage, noise, grip, comfort)...turns out to have better numbers written on the rubber Kumho Solus KH15 205/60R16 92H ($145 2007) Treadwear 340 Traction AA Temperature A Michelin Energy MXV8 205/60R16 92V ($215 2008) Treadwear 280 Traction A Temperature A and the Aurion Dunlop SP Sport 300E 215/60R16 95V (stock) Treadwear 240 Traction A Temperature A
  2. I am in Sydney that route has many traffic lights, blends and climbs its not easy for fuel consumption but there isn't really an alternative...its the geography of the region lol, don't worry car manufacturers prefer to be on the safe side I think someone here have driven over 50kms after the fuel warning light has came on yeah like many cars this is frequently report in forums as the case so I wouldn't worry since your ODO is 900km
  3. if you are in Sydney and if your Commodore wasn't a sports model, then you may find the suspension a bit firm
  4. working but was pushed over their limits? is Michelin Energy a rip off? is there an alternative that is similar or better in noise and grip?
  5. oh damn, I thought Michelin Energy was good our Camry Touring came with Michelin Vivacy it lasted 40,000km with rotation we were quoted $230 for Michelin something but ended up getting Kumho Solus for $150 my mum finds it a bit more noisy and my sister finds it a bit less grippy it lasted 15,000km (threads on front tyres went quickly, before we got around to rotate) so I went back with Michelin, got Michelin Energy at $230 I felt it gave softer ride and had better grip the Kumho Solus on the rear wheels will require replacement soon and I was planning to replace them with Michelin Energy as well... I was also planning to put them on the Aurion when the Dunlop Sport 300E goes I did have infrequent experiences of squeel on the road with the Dunlop though
  6. has anyone noticed any difference regarding engine braking when going downhill? at 90km/h on mild to moderate declines I slow down if I don't accelerate I got 8.4L/100km current tank ~70% freeway but I think without the engine braking it would be better yeah I noticed it considers the speed you press the pedal and probably downhill/uphill too (for economy or something) uphill on the freeway, I can press the pedal down slowly (maybe 60%) and the revs doesn't really change if I pressed the same 60% quickly it would hit like 5,000 rpms in like 2.5 seconds (lag inclusive)
  7. I guess its hard to tell but besides the differences due to limiting to first X gears, does the computer shift any differently? anyone done some extensive driving in S mode at '6' position ?
  8. DJKOR, it appears the upward trend still hasn't stopped for you any ideas? so your best result was 7.1l/100km on the freeway 110+ km/h with windows down you've tried windows up (and aircon on) in similar speed and weather and gotten worse results yeah? ****************** does anyone have the ADR81/02 urban figure? I was so looking forward to 1st April 2009 now its past, but www.greenvhicleguide.gov.au still hasn't got any figures for Aurion or Commodore yet supposed to be on the car label now if anyone lives next to a dealer... Ford's are on the site for a while already Falcon is 10.5 (14.5 / 8.2) Falcon 6 speed is 9.9 (13.8 / 7.6)
  9. I note that nobody recommended Michelin Energy, the oem tyre for Aurion Sportivo how does the above mentioned tyres compare with that one on price/grip/wear? Michelin Energy was ~$230 for R16
  10. there is also one more thread Fuel economy advice http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...102&hl=fuel Aurion average fuel consumption http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...750&hl=fuel your 620km is not good for freeway is that when the fuel warning light go on? any passengers and goods? looking at your joined date, is that a new car? (I keep an Excel file and noticed an improvement over the first 5000km) km per tank is not a practical comparison calculate between two top ups at the petrol station and participate in the manual calculation thread numerous people in those threads got <9L/100km for freeway which is inline with official ADR figure of 9.9L/100km combined
  11. yep so I'll keep going at it since ScratchX is mild I've read the previous post and have done the finger test, it doesn't really catch the finger nail but can feel them I don't know if my car has clear coat, maybe I should ask in the Camry forum first not sure if I described it popularly but bunch of scratch is like an area of parallel scratches (back and forth motion 5 times by scourer sponge) so polish (eg. Wetlook Cleaner Wax) can only improve the gloss but not restore reflection yeah? if to see if its working I should see reflection straight after ScratchX?
  12. quite amazed so I went out and bought the stuff I am using it on a BUNCH of scratches made by a scourer sponge (scourer sponge to remove black dots, not sure what was I thinking at the time) car is white 99-series 02 Camry and scratches are white but from a mirror reflection angle it looks like blurred areas of a mirror used QUICK Clay Kit to make it all smooth before using Scratch X (first time at clay and quite amazed, so smooth its like waxing...and got rid of the black dots) I tried twice and its not working yet (and I don't know when to stop) can I expect it to gloss the surface and restore the reflection? is it safe to just keep going until then? or does it not work because its not a line of scratch but a bunch of scratches? or do I have to follow it Wetlook Cleaner Wax to see if its working (with mirror reflection restored)?
  13. I saw an Aurion with a grill like that at Strathfield (Sydney) last weekend who was that?
  14. Venza looks like half way between SUV and poeple mover not in direct competition with wagon if you ask me and did Holden export Sportswagon version of the Commodore to US too? there are manual cars with stability control I think its supply and demand its like 2 in 10 people would complaint there is no manual a family car but less than 1 in 10 would actually buy a manual family car thats the approximate picture according to Toyota statement anyway when they released Aurion there was no manual because sales was almost non-existent on the Camry
  15. those type of concrete or cement roads are like bouncy by design full of joining sections, like every 2 metres at 70km/h its like bouncy and floaty at 25km/h its like springy (to me worse) never at 110km/h though, those roads are usually highways not motorways or freeways anyway its worse than a "little bounce" there are enough of that bad type of road around that I don't think they'll become a minority in Sydney any time soon also at various stages I wondered if my car is faulty none of the my friends or relatives have an Aurion so I can't compare
  16. yeah the Aurion feels bouncy on bumpy roads at first I thought its due to the soft non-Sportivo suspension as it didn't feel like that on our Camry Touring (precursor to Sportivo) fortunately the Aurion does feel better on rough but not bumpy roads but now I find the suspension a bit on the firm side especially after limited comparison with my friend's Commodore Sportswagon I've came to hate concrete roads (eg. Liverpool Road, Ashfield) and love the asphalt roads (eg. Parramatta Road, Camperdown) Sydney has plenty of those worn bumpy concrete roads on the other hand I mostly saw asphalt roads in Brisbane this might explain the popularity of Aurion in Brisbane on this forum
  17. yeah we don't go on the freeway much though I am hopeful it'll continue to drop and end up about 11L/100km
  18. happened to our 2002 Camry back in 2007 had to do a police report for NRMA sometimes I wish I had a security camera

  20. GS is on a larger platform ES is based on Camry (judging from wheelbase and engine)
  21. its not how calm you drive, but not often you brake if our family didn't go anywhere that week, we do about 13L/100km too like all the car did would be shopping or to the train station driving in the suburbs there is nothing you can do about traffic lights, stop signs, giveaways, and 90 degree turns
  22. ANCAP is not stupid you can ignore seatbelt warnings (3 points) and pole test (2 points) if you want just look at frontal (16 points) and side (16 pionts) collision test ANCAP numbers show *Aurion has better chest protection in frontal collision *Commdore and Falcon has better chest protection in side collision if TMCA can stop ripping us off of the knee airbag (which US Camry has), Aurion would win frontal collision outright if they do what Holden has done with Commodore at end of 2008, (pole test and add passenger seatbelt warning) then Aurion is above Falcon and Commodore again and thats achieveable with no structure improvement what so ever
  23. its definitely not the tranmission lag, since Aurion is an overpowered family car no idea why one would say its noisy in its class definitely the sound system for me I find our 02 Camry Touring better does anyone know if Presara gets better insulation or sound system?
  24. they've got AWD experience with the Corolla (Blade) maybe they should have made TRD Aurion AWD or is that too much to ask for $56k
  25. I just use unleaded Caltex (for Woolworths dockets) even Drive trashed E10 too False economy: fuel types compared Richard Blackburn, drive.com.au, December 13, 2008 http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...ArticleID=59627
