  1. Newer engines, up to 200,000km I would run a good quality 10W-40. Above 200,000 I would consider running a 15W-40. As for brands, I would recommend either Penrite or Nulon. Before oil changes make sure you run an oil flush like http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Engine_Treatments/Engine_Oil_Flush/. The 5S is fairly prone to sludge so it a good idea to give it a flush.
  2. $91 for a set of springs is CHEAP.
  3. Pretty sure you are thinking of the Gen 3 93-97. Google it and you will see.
  4. Getting those post counts up and saving wear on the old keyboard guys? No, actually placebo. Engine is getting older, hence more wear with each oil change, regardless of fuel used and oil change frequency. Happy now princess?
  5. The 5S-FE is generally not classed as a very good base for turbo applications. However power can be made, but not cheaply. The weak points are the pistons, conrods and headgasket, which I would recommend changing if you want things to last a long time. Guys have had it last by not doing this, but it is a rarity.
  6. This could be interesting...manual or auto? Keeping current engine? How much research have you done?
  7. Well they did also come with a 2VZ-FE, so a 3VZ or 1MZ may fit. Vlad, not the topic, I have no idea, but it's no use to me as it has an auto box(99% sure all were auto).
  8. Long story short, nothing is easy. Engines worthwhile to fit are 3S-GE and 3S-GTE.
  9. The 5S will run perfectly fine with Synthetic and Semi Synthetic, 7 years and not a worry. If you use straight mineral oil you will increase engine wear, they are designed for running in engines in order for everything to bed in.
  10. Andrew is spot on. John, they were most common in 5 x 114.3 though.
  11. Once is enough :P How did the test and tune go?
  12. Seriously? Tracks have differing conditions, whereas dyno's can be controlled environments. Tracks also take into account driver error. Dyno's have a controlled airflow with the use of fans as well. They both have their purposes, but in this case a dyno is sufficient for the intended purposes.
  13. Obviously genuine Toyota Long Life is the best option, however the Nulon Red Coolant is a good substitute. There is one crucial rule with coolant's never mix different types as some have different properties, always do a complete system flush before adding new coolant.
  14. I hope they don't make it a hybrid. If they do bring it back, they need to do it properly.
  15. Michael, the US ones will fit, however there is an Australian company called ISC coilovers. A friend in the US has a pair of these on his car and says that they are very good quality. They don't have them listed but email Ryan(I think it is) and he should be able to help you out. Cost is $1199 and postage from memory to Brisbane was about $38. http://www.isc-coilovers.com/
  16. Pick n Pay style wreckers are definitely the cheapest option.
