  1. Most likely a belt squeal, probably needs tightening or possibly replacing.
  2. Drain the oil into a clean container and look/feel for any metallic residue. Using a clean container will allow you to re-use it if it is fine and you can't afford to do an oil change. Sounds very much like a synchro issue to me.
  3. I wouldn't let either touch any of my cars with a 10 foot pole, get a decent private mechanic and you will be much happier.

  6. I'll be there and tonight I'm makin' waffles, well maybe not waffles but we are bringing cheesecake.
  7. One tip I can give you is not to try do too much with the exhaust on a 5S, it will end up going sour.

  10. Take it to an auto-electrician, the fault is more than likely in the switch.
  11. I bought mine when I was 18, I am now 25. It was my ever reliable daily, now it is my toy(in-progress).
  12. Fantastic, I might pick up an upstream Oxygen Sensor later.. Sorry some newb questions here.. Are they hard to install , I'm having difficulty locating the o2 sensor on the 5sfe Is it anywhere in the picture above? Also thinking of getting the mechanic to check the ignition timing - how often is that needed for these old cars? Thanks a million Easy to do, it is the probe looking thing with the wire hanging off the exhaust manifold at the very bottom of the picture. You really should buy something like this, they can be had cheaper too. 13. Yes, it is fine. Sydney's weather is no where near cold or hot enough to make any difference.
  14. I used to, really not worthwhile gains, if any, for the cost.
  15. Likewise, I also ran SIN for about 12 months before building the engine I have now. Here's a comparison of my engine vs a typically sludged 5S-FE. I put it down to good maintenance and running a good quality oil. Mine: Typically Sludged:
