  1. $5000 worth of work if a dealer does it...
  2. You can only legally cruise at the speed limit anyways, st182er should come to a meet and make up his/her own mind, I can assure you it isn't boring, Silycr just does too much crack to sit in one spot for too long...
  3. Not easy and way out of your $500 price range.
  4. A catback exhaust but don't expect too much in the way of gains.
  5. There are certain things best left to the professionals, this is one of them.
  6. Why bad mouth the dealer, do you have any proof that he did anything illegal? If not, deal with it, the RACV report CLEARLY details that the clutch is near the end of it's servicable life, YOU HAD FAIR WARNING!
  7. That sludge has nothing to do with Castrol at all. That is a common issue for the 5S-FE, usually cause by poor maintenance schedules and poor oil flushing procedures. Service it at 5000km intervals as a maximum and the issue should not rise again. I personally wouldn't mod an auto, but each to their own. At least the car's body is in decent condition this time.
  8. So basically you have no clue... Anyways, the Gen 3 V6 brakes are a good, cheap upgrade if you aren't tooking to spend a lot of money and very little needs to be changed over. They have bigger rotors and twin piston calipers.
  9. If you are on facebook there is this: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=730893695&ref=ts#!/CelicaClubBrisbane
  10. From what I have read from the OP Jeffy, they should not attempt to do any of this work themselves.
  11. Hopefully that manifold doesn't crack and warp on you. The stainless ones are renowned for doing so.
  12. George, that is Steve's car lol...would be the only one with paddle shifters. If you wan't the shifters you can buy his WHOLE CAR and get them.
  13. Mine's not even on the road(don't worry about paint), but I still rock up in either the Aurion or the Camry Wagon. Thursday's, 8pm at the Spring Hill Pool 400 Gregory Tce or Hoppy's Carwash at Bowen Hils if it is raining. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/27430-the-brisbane-thread-weekly-meet-every-thursday-from-8pm/
  14. No idea(wasn't driven), but the compression was lowered to compensate for boost, so possibly less. The point of changing the head and using forged internals is to strengthen it, not to gain more power, that's the turbo's job. I'll put money on the fact that if you don't do something about lowering compression and trying to hit 300(hp or KW?), especially with the FE head, you will spit head gaskets or bend rods like no tomorrow. Just do a huge amount of research on the subject, look for 5S-GTE, 5S-FTE and 5S-GE builds. I will say, most the guys who have done 5S-FTE builds no longer have their cars for various reasons. Come out to a Thursday meet if you can and I'll have a chat to you there about it.
  15. Fair enough, however, you can spend much less and get higher gains.
  16. Don't bother, you won't get aftermarket camshafts for the 5S-FE, especially in Australia. Do as Mick said. If you have any specific questions give me a yell. Modding a 5S costs a lot of money, so hopefully you have deep pockets.
  17. They may have been dumping a dead body and your Avensis was the only car of suitable size and practicality to do so.
  18. Old news, been discussed many times here.
  19. It would be hard to tell without seeing the vehicle. Obviously there is either a short in the circuit or it is being over loaded. Either way, I would suggest taking it to an LPG certified mechanic or auto electrician and NEVER replace the fuse with a larger than standard one...that makes FIRE.
