  1. Drain and plugs as you said. Turn it over with the plugs out to make sure there is no oil in the combustion chamber.

There will be smoke for a while once it is started, this will be oil burning off. Keep an eye out for leaking seals.

  2. I am not sure how you would like me to demonstrate this.

LUX can not be adjusted, sensitivity can be. Some vehicles have this option in their audio/visual units, others require a visit to the dealership, where it is done via an adjustment using dealership software. It varies from model to model.

A quick Google of: "toyota adjust auto light sensitivity" will get you some results.

I am a bit surprised however that the Toyota spare parts bloke didn't seem to have this bit of information in one of his reference links on his computer screen or in his own general knowledge,....oh well, maybe he was new to the job and this was only his first week of learning the ropes.

If he works in spare parts, he may not have any knowledge of faults. His job is to find and provide parts. The technicians will have that sort of information.

  4. It is definitely possible, I am not sure whether it will be 100% plug and play though.

From memory it was 1 plastic screw at the middle in the top of the black surround, then pull the grey piece directly outwards. From there it is 4 bolts to remove the cluster itself. It has been a little while since I removed it.

  5. Well, my SR has the brighter Optitron cluster which is the same as the SR5 from factory, so there is a good chance that it will. There is also the issue of the odometer being incorrect.

My cluster has the ability for the lights to be replaced, so I would assume yours to be the same. Pull it out and have a bit of a look.
