  1. I reached 10,000 kms today and decided to replace the oil and filter myself. it took about an hour as i took my time and the sump plug was damn tight, and i dont have ramps, so it was a bit tight. I put Mobil Synth S 10w-40, and repco oil filter. The oil is semi synthetic and cost around $30 dollars, filter was $15. I figured since im gona change the oil every 5000k's it would be pointless to spend $70 on fully synthetic oil. I drained the oil when the engine was hot, it seems to flow quicker. Refilled with about 4.5 liters of new oil which is what the manual says, took the car for a spin and it runs fine.

  2. I might have to close down this topic if you guys dont chill out, especially the new guys, everything was just fine till a few days ago. To the ae92 sx owners with 4ag motors welcome aboard, enjoy your stay, feel free to post positive comments and everyone will get along fine. We all love our cars thats why were here, people get very offensive and crap starts spilling out. :) :) , now back to the topic.....anyone still having problems shifting in their sportivo?

  3. i say yes.

the sportivo roll aonly has a 1/4 mile time of 16.1, which is pretty wussy (my 26yr old celica is almost that fast, with a dead motor) and it weighs around 1400kgs.

The Camry weighs about the same, has a bucketload more torque and more power. They are also 5 speed.

I think i know where my money is............. my rolla.

Yeah, coz you were there when they tested it over the q/m and your stopwatch said 16.1.

  4. Where did these imposters come from? Get over your 4AG series motors they were good but they are old tech, anyone can build up a fast car with hardly any money, the sportivo is more than just performance, there is comfort, a touch of luxury and turns peoples eyes whenever you hit lift, you dont have that in your old rustbuckets now do you? and the T-sport is the same as a sportivo, c'mon guys wake up, same engine same everything, just different headlights and minor cosmetics.

you tell me not to bag out sportivos and yet we get the same back, the 1.6 4age in the sx/gti made 100kw with no vvti and is over tens years older yet the standard corolla today makes the same amount of power and with vvti, is that old tech? nope its a smaller donk with no vvti and has a better torque curve and still makes the same power, illuminati yes i know but they are a design that have been out for many years and not new technology.

Mate i dont think thats fair, im not here to bag anyone, infact it came across that all you new guys just invaded the forum to bag the sportivo, but dont try to start a pointless argument about power figures etc, whats the point? Peace out :) .

  5. and a sportivo, a car that wouldnt match any of the cars. Great magazine they got there.

<_< I dont think all they compare is performance in this category, theres more to a car than jusk Kilowatts and Torque numbers, i mean is that all you look at when buying a car? I still dont understand why it stirrs up soo many people in here, it's like the sportivo is not even a corolla. I think all you 4AGE owners are ****** off that toyota reintroduced a hot hatch back in their range, something that they didnt have since 92.

  6. I have to admit when i first saw the new corolla i said the same thing, i wasnt very fond of it at all, big headlights high off the ground, etc but it is only a corolla after all, then everytime i climb in my mums 01 corolla with the round headlights i feel like im suffocating. You eventually learn to love the new shape if you own one. Drop it a couple of inches and put 17's and it looks better than any previous corolla weve had in Oz.

  7. My next project is a turbo motor for my celica. But that DOES require money. A lot of it.

Are you gona stick with toyota engines? A perfect fit would be the 1.8 3T-GTEU with a yamaha 8 vavle twin cam. That head also fits on a 22-RE engine which would give you a displacement of 2.4 liters, or you can just get a supercharger for the engine you have now.
