  1. The paint protection is this MING wax which is applied then buffed off. I found later after i payed the $600, that you can get it done at some panelbeaters for half the price.
  2. I got talked into it, and i have to admit the car is alot easier to wash, than previous cars without paint protection. I have had bird crap on it and it didnt leave stains, so i guess it's worth it.
  3. I think it's best we leave it untill later next month(Jan 2004). Most peple should be over their Hangovers
  4. The other car with the Eibach springs, How much was that lowered?
  5. There could be your answer mate, be careful which petrol station you use Optimax from. I stopped using it after my third fillup because the fuel was shoit, so ever since im pouring the 8000 synergy, so far no problems.
  6. And the "Local" ones will get them the same way, Us or Japan, it's simply too much to develop parts for the local market unless youre designing them for Holden or Ford.
  7. I think youre just getting used to lift mate, or(i can not stress enough) you got a bad batch of fuel.
  8. Mate, you can get anything, just have to order it on the net.
  9. Look mate, if youre still using Optimax, try a new fuel and see what happens. Also dont engage the clutch fully, only half way, or just tap it, and you might get into lift from 1st to 2nd. I remember reading a post where a guy actually changed from 1st to second and kept the clutch in, pressed the throttle and then let go of the clutch and it stayed above 6000rpm. He was basically riding the clutch from 1st to 2nd. As for the gears, i had the same problem when i had a bad batch of optimax, so it's synergy 8000 all the way for me.
  10. Not much to say dude, here i am in the middle of nowhere, straight road ahead of me, so i dropped it to 4th, hit lift, and before you know it im doing 160. I thought what the hell so I kept going :D . had to back off coz the ride was getting way too bumpy from the road surface. First time i ever been that fast , feels good :). The car can easily do 220.
  11. Yep, i'm in the same boat, although lately the noise has gone away.
  12. What do you mean by brutal? You mean the force placed on the chasis?
  13. I had my baby running at 200 clicks in 5th revving at 7200rpm :D.
  14. I enquired about the Chip about 6 months ago, and they keep bugging me. For 2 grand, there is no way in hell im doing it. And ive asked around for extractors, and you cant get anything under $1500, and they are very rare. Im sticking to basic parts, these engines are pretty much tuned up in my opinion. Anything more would cost alot and wouldnt be worth the cost anyway. Thats just my opinion. Sparkplugs, oil filters, CAI, and exhaust, maybe some pulley's and thats about it for me.
  15. A remus stainless steel 2 tip muffler would add around 4 to 5 kilowatts for these cars, or so i was told. The price? $950 fitted at car shine. <_< in Flemington.
  16. Mate you got yourself a bargain. I was quoted $500 for the springs and $295 for fitting and allignment etc. thats $800 bucks man. :(
  17. ;) i know that too man, i'm not saying it's not possible, but i'd hate to see how much money he spent.
  18. This is an old topic, and nobody ever has an answer to the question asked. The engine is maxed out, if Lift was to kick in earlier, the engine would be under some serious stress. I'm sure the engineers at Toyota did what they did for a reason. And besides, it's more fun like this, and it tests your driving skills. The simple answer is, IF YOU WANT A 4 BANGA CAR TO MODIFY DONT GET A N/A, GET a TURBO. Cheaper and easier to get horses out. End of Story. peace.
  19. I just got back from an exhaust shop in Footscray. The salesman had a look at the exhaust and was very impressed. The standard one is 2 inches mandrel bent stainless steel. He used the word "beautiful" quite alot :D . His advice was to just get a different muffler, and not waste money in getting a cat back system as there is no need. The only restriction is at the muffler, so a sports one should give a few more horses and better sound. I was quoted 220 for a redback.
  20. You must bring a smile to any mechanics face. 15,000 is far too long for these cars mate, you'll wanna wait till 2000 then open her up a bit otherwise youre wasting time, you should enjoy the car untill you can, it wont last forever, nothing does :( .
  21. 5w-50 is a bit too thin. Just stick to the recommended viscosity, and get the synthetic type, doesent matter on brands. Toyota uses castrol, so i'll stick with castrol. As for the idling, mine always starts at round 1600 then works it's way down slowly to 1000.
  22. not all cars in the forum are performance.
