  1. Yeah, coz you were there when they tested it over the q/m and your stopwatch said 16.1.
  2. you tell me not to bag out sportivos and yet we get the same back, the 1.6 4age in the sx/gti made 100kw with no vvti and is over tens years older yet the standard corolla today makes the same amount of power and with vvti, is that old tech? nope its a smaller donk with no vvti and has a better torque curve and still makes the same power, illuminati yes i know but they are a design that have been out for many years and not new technology. Mate i dont think thats fair, im not here to bag anyone, infact it came across that all you new guys just invaded the forum to bag the sportivo, but dont try to start a pointless argument about power figures etc, whats the point? Peace out :) .
  3. Hey Danz, about time you put something up, where you been? :P :P
  4. <_< I dont think all they compare is performance in this category, theres more to a car than jusk Kilowatts and Torque numbers, i mean is that all you look at when buying a car? I still dont understand why it stirrs up soo many people in here, it's like the sportivo is not even a corolla. I think all you 4AGE owners are ****** off that toyota reintroduced a hot hatch back in their range, something that they didnt have since 92.
  5. I have to admit when i first saw the new corolla i said the same thing, i wasnt very fond of it at all, big headlights high off the ground, etc but it is only a corolla after all, then everytime i climb in my mums 01 corolla with the round headlights i feel like im suffocating. You eventually learn to love the new shape if you own one. Drop it a couple of inches and put 17's and it looks better than any previous corolla weve had in Oz.
  6. Are you gona stick with toyota engines? A perfect fit would be the 1.8 3T-GTEU with a yamaha 8 vavle twin cam. That head also fits on a 22-RE engine which would give you a displacement of 2.4 liters, or you can just get a supercharger for the engine you have now.
  7. Where did these imposters come from? Get over your 4AG series motors they were good but they are old tech, anyone can build up a fast car with hardly any money, the sportivo is more than just performance, there is comfort, a touch of luxury and turns peoples eyes whenever you hit lift, you dont have that in your old rustbuckets now do you? and the T-sport is the same as a sportivo, c'mon guys wake up, same engine same everything, just different headlights and minor cosmetics.
  8. C'mon mate dont be dispirited, get it fixed through insurance. Your muckups are over, get it done properly.
  9. Ahh man thats a bummer, you guys should have had a drag after to see who wins :D
  10. They must really be thrashing your car :D :D
  11. Welcome aboard Karolla, glad you could make it. If you live in Melbourne i'll be more than glad to take you for a spin or even better, come to the Auto Salon expo and there will be a couple more guys. The quality of these cars is not bad, they just have minor problems with vibrating dashes etc, you can look at previous topics to learn more, they have all been discussed. Apart from that feel free to ask anything, someone will reply with an answer :D .
  12. Well on Wednesday i copped a $100 parking fine. That was one expensive chinese lunch. I nearly got done once by a roadside unmarked camera, but i managed to see it just before i passed it and slowed down to escape the nasty flash.
  13. Thanx Steve, i'll get on to them first thing monday morning, much appreciated.
  14. Ive just clocked 10000 kms, i only had one major problem andthat was a rattle coming from somewhere at the back of the car, it turned out to be a loose number plate which was fixed, however ive got a new problem which is on the passanger side. When i drive over bumps there is a nasty thump thump noise, and it only does it on that side of the car, all the time. Could that be a faulty shock absorber?
  15. Spot on Peeks. The Sportivo muffler is fairly good as it is, i think it's designed for optimum performance as far as street legality is required in terms of noise etc, as well as backpressure. The only muffler i would consider would be a TRD unit or a Veilside, or Rod Millen. The cheap ones you find at Autobarn and exhaust places drone too much, sure it sounds good AT FIRST, then you just want peace and quiet.
  16. :D :D I know man, but the temptation was too great, i mean you dont get a Pug wanting to race every night. I was just lucky this time ;), so all the B******* aside i hope you guys take note that this car gets lively under heavy breaking, which is why i put this topic up, you can get caught out very easily.
  17. Hey orrock, PM me your mobile, there will be a few of us from melbourne going.
  18. Last nite i had the pleasure to take on a pug 206 GTI, new model shape. Those cars are very quick, plenty of midrange torque, but once the rolla got into lift, i was reeling him in like a fish. He flew past me on a long stretch of road (must have seen my TRD badge :D ), so i dropped it a couple (3) gears, hit lift, caught up, bang 4th, topped it out in 4th at which stage he was behind me. I just put it in 5th when i saw the roundabout ahead, and at that speed it comes quick at you, i was like ohhhhhh S***, i applied brake pressure, not full on just maybe half, and the tail started to fish out, i grabed on the wheel, held on tight, entered the roundabout at around 100kph, heavy on brakes, abs kicked in and i was able to glide through. For a sec i thought the ***** end was gona let go, but managed to keep her in line even though i took over two driving lanes. Scary stuff. The point im trying to make is that the stivo, at high speed breaking is not very stable, maybe due to its road clearance, or the weight balance where the rear end is fairly light, however beware when breaking from high (160+) speeds it's not a comfy ride, it requires full concentration and a bit of skill. I guess i was just lucky i scaped through unscaved. I gotta keep outa lift, Seriously <_<
  19. Thanx for the pics man. Did you take any shots of any female Models :D ?
  20. Give it time, i had similar issues but its smoothened out. The only time it really got difficult to use in 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th was when i had a crap batch of optimax. im not saying optimax is crap, but that batch made the car feel weak and rattly. I swapped to Mobil, and it was sweet as new. Now it's all i use.
  21. My ideal set of rims would look like these, and i think 205/40/17 are a bit smaller in overall diameter than original rims, i think 205/45/17 are more the correct size for the car.
