Hi Pecker,

thanks mate. As for your question yes they are ask the dealership to do it for you if u need it done. Now if the dealership says no then ring toyota directly and tell them which dealership u want 2 do it and let toyota organise it.

cheers

Bill

p.s. Any more time slips....the more the merrier

Wait till I fix my clutch and put Fidanza in!

Quick guide:

1. Save your stock wheel diameter

2. Rise revs till 5000 rpm

3. Dump clutch

4. Shift at 8200, keep it floored, and land 6300-6400

Never let your right foot off the pedal!

Ask Hames what big revs and dumping the clutch does for the health and wellbeing of your gearbox! It needed a trip to the dentist, doctor and every other specialist!

does it do any damage? flat shifting?

That depends if you want what's left of your clucth dripping out fron underneath your car!

Once or twice yeah alright... but all the time is just plain abuse and will cost you big time, especially on this stock one. It's already got issues.

What happened to Hames car? Did he break a gear or something? Currently that is my greatest concern with the stupid clutch. I crunch gears every now and then sometimes when i shift slowly but sometimes when i shift HARD. That is clutch fully in so Toyota cannot say i abused it can they??

I experienced gearbox problems in other cars before and one gear cost me $1600 to fix :( !!! That is in a AWD car where a lot of load goes to the drivetrain due to the enormous grip. I am guessing FWD and RWD cars don't have that much issues as we can spin the wheels. But still crunching gears is not at all healthy

From what he told me it sounds like the diff centre flexed that much in the gearbox case that it stressed the case enough to allow a bit of mis-alignment and consequently damaged some gears and filled the box with metal fillings. Was lucky to get Toyota to flit the $2000+ bill under warranty. :P

Well i guess Toyota should pay for it if the 6 speed box cannot even handle 1 hard launch. That is just pathetic. This 6 speed is off the Celica, not the Echo!
