can be dun.... butttt it wud run like a dog until at least 7 grand and then it will open up soooo harddddddddddd the ports and all that other head work will hav to be extreeme and the compresion wud hav to be 12+: 1 and all the internals wud hav to be made stronger lol i cant see any 1 from this forum doing it.... the only mod on this forum is a CAI lol

Haha mate... Some of us on here have done all that and more to 2zz's. Both n/a and f/i. Its just pointless on a road car. U really gotta stop assuming things mate.

but yeah 13:1 in AUS   highly not recommended unless ur gonna run on race fuel all day long .... $$$$ and illegal on the street i believe.

I dunno if these parts are designed for street use in Japan, but assuming they are, and Japan has 100RON fuel, then wouldn't you also be able to run fine on one of the 100RON ethanol blends available here in Aus? There are other cars that come close to 13:1 eg. Audi RS4 with 12.5:1 and these cars run 98RON not 100RON.

It's not just high compression that will cause detonation, piston design plays an important role and no doubt TRD have taken that into account. In fact I bet it's the engraved TRD logo on each piston that helps prevent detonation with the higher compression ;)

ohk so who on this forum has extreme ported head... who has 12.5 compression.... who has upgraded valve train... who has stage 3 and beyond cam profiles who has forged rods and crank and fully balanced internals... who has an upgraded oil pump who has higher flowed injectors who has an aftermarket stand alone ecu who has ITB's or a higher flowed plenum ??? all this and much much more stuff need to be done to acheieve this so like i said it can be done but it requires alot of work and it would lag very hard down low

there will be some users who will have some of these mods but not for what is neccesary to get it revving 10k rpm

im talkin bout on an NA car btw so xoom your disqualified....

Micky tee your lil tag along you made like 2-3 posts after i did but not until xoom said something did you wanna be a smart *****.... dont act like you know everything about cars and the your the king of everything coz at the end of the day motor mechanics is not your trade and either is it my trade... however it is my brothers trade and he has delt with alot of high performance NA cars and he knows what needs to be done... you fink your king **** because your a moderator... i dont giv two farkks you say people on this forum have done all this stuff to there car and its pointless on the road... where in my post did i say it would be good on the road... my brothers old car (an n13 pulsar) had minor porting stage 2 cams and a strate through exhaust all on the standard ecu.. it used to lagg hard down low but at about 5 grand wwas where the powerband started and it used to open up really really hard

and about that CAI thing i was only joking thats y i said lol so some of you people need to learn how to take a joke and not get defensive... it is kind of true in a way and you's even know it

well Xoom's turbo 2zz is fully built, and I believe Micky Tee's NA rally 2ZZ is too....

the SR20 and the 2ZZ-GE are very different engines mate. For starters the SR20 does not have 2 stage cam profiles like the 2ZZ this recovers some of the lost torque down low. Secondly, calculate the engine physics in terms of head speed velocity and you will see that 10k rpm is difficult to achieve with these engines as they are, if not impossible. It will require much more than forged pistons and rods to hold it together. You'd also have to look at shortening the stroke to bring the engine more over square in order to make it more reliable at those speeds.

Cheers jason ;) btw it made it in our local paper down here the other day as "the neal bates prepared corolla sportivo" made us laugh a bit.

Dude u know what? Don't judge me as a trigger happy moderator because i'v never used my power as one to my advantage. I've never claimed to know everything about 2zz's, but i have worked on a few, and worked with people who have worked on many. You and all the other naysayers on here have pretty much convinced me to not say a word and keep all my knowledge to myself. You go ahead and do all those mods u listed above then raise the rev limit to 10k. Then come and tell us all how long it lasts. Then see if my advice before to not raise the limit was worthwhile or not.

Finally... Many members on this forum have done more than just a cai on their cars, they just simply don't say anything as people like u jump down there throats. But all of those mods u listed would be terrible on a street corolla, and u know this mate. For a racing car yeah sure go for it, and personally my family have, with the assistance of one of the best 2zz engineers in aus. If u look in the lights camera action forum on here u will find a vid of one of our standard rally cars and some of its results... Quite impressive really, when u look at the competition. So stop jumping on all my posts and trying to prove them wrong cos clearly i do have some idea what i'm on about and i'm kinda sick of arguing with u mate.

And mate i would have said all my above posts anyway regardless of what time i'm on the forum... Sorry i can't be on here all day long. Also, how do u know what trade i'm in?

my response ....

who on this forum has extreme ported head --- Yes for me

who has 12.5 compression --- No for me

who has upgraded valve train --- Yes for me

who has stage 3 and beyond cam profiles --- No for me

who has forged rods and crank and fully balanced internals --- Yes for me

who has an upgraded oil pump --- No for me (they dont make an oil pump upgrade for the 2zz only an upgraded oil pump gear)

who has higher flowed injectors --- Yes for me (i dont think u'll get enough air in on an N/A setup to max out the stock injectors but i could be wrong)

who has an aftermarket stand alone ecu --- Yes for me

who has ITB's or a higher flowed plenum --- No for me

Well thats just sheer discrimination :P :P :P ..... lol

On a serious note if u do a bit more research and look into rangnork racings cams (i think thats how its spelt) or even piper cams and speak to a few of the people that have put these on their cars u will get a bit more insight into the advantages the 2zz engine brings to the table ...... being that an sr20 cant change the cam profile was the result of this lag u are refering to ..... prior to going turbo i was looking into the N/A side of the 2zz i spent about 12months doing so, reading all about it .... visiting workshops and discussing it with engineers both in aus and overseas and the design of these after market cams have been pulled together such that there is an increase in performance across the whole rev range ....

also i think the other thing we are also forgeting is even though the engine might get built to handle this i wonder about the gearbox, clutch and flywheel bolts...... yes i mention flywheel bolts because i have seen them get sheered clean off due to a mis-shift ..... and everyone keeps complaining about the box and clutch (although i havent had any issues *knock on wood*) however at 10K rpms it would get interesting on the longevity of these parts

I think such a build now that i think more about it would be unobtainable and have the car to continue to remain reliable and street driven ..... ah well as i said before it would still sound insane i think

Ragnorak was a shady company and the owner has since disappeared. Plus they were reselling stage 2 and 3 Piper cams anyway ;)

Also to note, stage 3 Piper cams are the most aggressive off-the-shelf cam available so far.

when did i say i want to raise the rev limit to 10k on a 2zzge?

when did i say i want to do all them mods listed above to a 2zzge?

when did i say it will be worth while on a street car??? i can actually tell you first hand with my brothers old pulsar because i have driven it many times that it was so sheet to drive on the street taking off took a while beacuase it used to need for you to ride the clutch to get it going and it had not much torque down low so it was a bich to drive.

When have i ever jumped the gun and tried to prove you wrong mate ... if i recall it was you that causes all the arguments with your lil smart a55 comments to me when you quote me... dont post directly to me anymore its simple..

I know with the 2zz it would be alot easier to drive because of the two cam profiles.. but with the port sizes it would really suck down low because like someone said the velocity would not be enough.... and if you want to make it to 10k rpm believe me even the low down cam profile would need to be modified to an extent because whats the point of all the other mod's if your not gonna get any more air in then standard? oh and btw im not trying to say its easy because i know first hand that it is not it is alot harder then a turbo application to get it revving so high and still maintain reliabilty like xoom said and also mr2zz...

personally i would not keep it NA if i wanted power it would be far easier to go the turbo route to get power..... but cmon people we all know how madd a 2zzge sounds at 8000rpm... how mad would it sound at 10 k rpm.. it would absolutely deffan you ...

Micky tee since you say your not bothered arguing any more... then stop.... i only reply to your smart ***** comments and that is what any 1 else would do to.. right???... believe me ive got better things to do then rag on every comment you make in this forum
