Corolla Ascent Sport.: Model ZRE182R.C
Hi Alan, My first reply, as I just joined up 🙂 I have a 2016 Corolla Ascent Sport Hatch with alloy wheels so I'm guessing yours would be the same. AFAIK don't think Toyota has the colour code for the alloys, think they're just a generic silver. Before my son got his licence a few months ago, he had scuffed the front and rear left alloys of my Corolla a bit while I was teaching him to drive. I found a silver touchup pen on Amazon for Alloy wheels, was pretty cheap for just under $10 and the colour is pretty much the same silver. Worked a treat. Maybe buy one and see if it matches the colour of your alloys. If it does you could get an auto paint store to match that colour. Just do a search for "alloy wheel touchup paint" on Amazon. See the screenshot I've provided. All the best mate. -

Thanks Robert! Too true, dad was devastated when the Aussie car manufacturing industry shut down. Sad as it is, I've been very happy with my Toyotas like yourself, they are just awesome work horses. Cheers mate, see you around 😀 -

2016 Hilux SR5 Coolant Issues
The first picture is what the initial mechanic in Port Augusta analyzed what was wrong with it. The next 3 photos shows what it did look like. The last photo is how it looks now repaired. I hope that helps you understand what has happened. From what I can tell from other forums is that there used to be an issue with the coolant leaking which probably led to this one being bypassed. Hence the issue as outlined in the first image. I was told by my mechanic yesterday that bypassing the coolant through the engine is illegal and should never have been passed for a roadworthy when I bought it back in April. It is an emissions issue and you don't touch that area. He said that if was presented with this ute in that condition, he would not have passed it for roadworthy. I have been in contact with the dealership that I bought it from and he is going to look into the mechanic who did the roadworthy and find out what is going on. I have said that I want to be re-imbursed for the repairs and being sold a faulty car, as well as that I nor he would want me to go to VCAT or Consumer Affairs about it. Are you aware of this issue? -

Son's First Car--98 Corolla Seca--Overfilled Oil--Cactus??
Thanks so much for your advice. We checked the transmission dipstick (finally!) and it was empty! Yes old dad did a boneheaded move. My son then changed the oil and filled the transmission fluid on his cherry 98 Toyota Seca and the car sings! Thankfully our 100m test drive on no transmission fluid does not seem to have done any major harm. Cheers -

Son's First Car--98 Corolla Seca--Overfilled Oil--Cactus??
Just to confirm, are we talking about engine oil or gearbox/transmission oil? The auto in these also has a dipstick in the engine bay, just want to make sure you're checking the right thing (especially since you're talking about it not shifting properly, which shouldn't be an issue with engine oil level if the car runs fine otherwise) -

2011 Hilux fuel injector seals
Hi all, I have a question regarding the 2011 Toyota Hilux 3.0l turbo diesel model. A friend of mine who is a mechanic mentioned that they may be known for issues with the fuel injector seals leaking but he couldnt remember whether it was common in the 2009 or the 2011 models. It was apparently an issue that was solved by redesigning the engine, solved by 2012 and possibly 2011 model? Does anybody know anything more about this or had there own experiences with the 2011 engine? Any insight is appreciated as I'm considering buying one, thanks! -

2016 Hilux SR5 Coolant Issues
Need more information, what engine are we referring too? Where is the bypass actually at? What hose actually blew off ? The more info you provide actually helps as it helps draw a picture for those who can't actually be there, Cheers Conrod A picture or two would be very beneficial -

Son's First Car--98 Corolla Seca--Overfilled Oil--Cactus??
Hi folks, Concerned dad of first-time car-owner son. He just bought a 1998 Toyota Seca 1.6L Automatic in Melbourne. Perfect condition. Saw that the oil was so low when warm it did not even touch the dipstick. Filled it to within specs on the stick (took about 1L). Drove 15 mins to home--car performed well. Checked in the morning. Still low. Added another 0.7L (now about 1.7L added total). Test drove for 3 mins. Noticed gear shifting suddenly irregular and slow. Rechecked oil level. It was now 5cm over the limit on the dipstick!! Drained off 1.5L through the pan and no more oil would come out of the pan. Mystified that the oil was still 5cm over the dipstick limit. Took a syringe. Drained off another 0.25L through the dipstick tube, which was about everything that we added in total. Oil level now 1cm over the dipstick limit. Engine still starts and idles fine, but now the car will not go into gear at all. My son is devastated. Please help.
