  • 2 weeks later...

Hi all....seeing we had such a good turnout yesterday i figured we keep with the high and get ontop of organising how these are going to occur...frequencey and dates etc

Been chatting with Blind_Kid_seeks (Andy) and we both agree that a monthly setup would be great with easy dates like last sunday of everymonth (if all agree) and we set in stone that something will occur on that day whether you can make it or not, these can become the Monthly meets although others may organise little ones randomly in between etc. Having a set date allocated makes it easier all we have to do is decide where we want to meet and what we want to do.

Final Sunday each month ?

NEXT MEET SUNDAY 27th JULY - Location and event TBA

sound ok....keen for input.....

here here

Lets try make this a regular Monthly thing...

I've got a great idea for the next major long cruise if anyones keen...

Will be a days worth of driving... and Start at Lilydale Lake. From here we drive to Yarra Junction and head east to Noojee, where we can stop for lunch at the Pub. Great Pub Food and cold beers set on a river side spot.

From here we back track along the same road to Yarra Junction, and turn right to Mt Donna Buang. The road to the top is quite steep and full of fast cornering joy! the top is very cold and theres always the chance there's snow/ice on the way up so must keep wits about ones self. Awesome spot for a photo shoot on the way up.

This cruise is about 300+ks long and is full of great roads, with nice open sections mixed with great high rev'd 2nd gear turns. well worth the effort to get this one going.

thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Andy.

or......

theres another great drive that starts from warragul...

So head down the monash / princess hwy to warragul and turn right... to Korrumburra. great roads winding through picturesque country Victoria. Lunch or dinner at korumburra Hotel (has a massive car park) and the cruise back along the South Gippsland Hwy home through Cranbourne.

thats a little tamer for those worried about black ice.

good turn out yeterday... :toast: kolour....

seems like every one there was really into cars and had done afair bit of work to there cars aswell, maybe we should consider a legal drag day/night,

they hold legal drag's at calder park on friday nights, and they also do some at heathcote i think?

it's only a small fee (like $50 per car, not sure tho) and that way we can see what works on our cars and what dosen't, with real time slip's.

just a thought... plus i would love to see 20-30 corolla's rip'n it up down the 1/4,,, :spiteful:

Track day and Drag day/night i reckon are probably more suited to smaller groups who really want to do it, alot of ppl might not feel confident or want to really flog their cars down the 1/4 or round a track, i say we try to keep the monthly meets more social and casual and available for all to particpate

Drag cost min $50 and bit of car prep

Track day = Cams licence = $ 110 + car prep + helmet must be warn + track hire costs / entry

sound fair guys

Im keen as for blind kid seeks last input "So head down the monash / princess hwy to warragul and turn right... to Korrumburra. great roads winding through picturesque country Victoria. tame and twisty for those who want to push it a bit and also good chance for all to chat and get to know eachother over afew drinks and lunch

I agree...

Track days can end up VERY costly if you want to be competitive... Munching tyres and clutches isnt very cruise like. If you have built a track weapon for a car then be my guest... i am all about driving places rather than round and round.

nothing beats some good B roads with a meal and a beer (or a lemonade if your on your P's, or a pansy) at the end.

i'll get all the ground work done if need be.

PS... Last Sunday of every month is gonna be a killer!!! i have a monthly Hip Hop party at Miss Libertines the last Saturday of every month... oh the pain...

3.8k to hire, thats actually not too bad

i would imagine a big 21st would cost heaps more :P

i cant justify the expense at all... 21 laps is all you get... not to mention all the damage to the car, wear to tires... all for the sake of some bragging rights. We drive Corolla's. FFS!

who said anything about bragging?

you go for the fun of it :)

i know you have fun from mountain runs and all, but seriously, its far too dangerous + illegal to take your car to the limit, track is a controlled environment, its just like drag racing, you go to have fun, socialise off others and learn new things.

i do admit 21 laps isnt much

no idea how many laps you get with the exe or tampered days, ive got a feeling they have open practice

ive been hanging to go to one for ages and yes, money factor has always stopped me, stupid things always come up

you can go in a stock car and still have fun dude

and yes we do drive corollas, but why go out and buy things like intake/exhaust/coil overs, if your going to be driving on the street...

i swapped over to the corolla because i wanted something comfortable on the street, my previous car broke my bones if i drove over an ant (kind of like mario's car :P)

now i cant afford to keep a 2nd car so im keeping the mods minimal and focusing on making the most out of what i have, i dont even have an intake cause i want drive ability

AMEN!!!!!

i dont own any race bits because they are a total waste UNLESS you are on the track a lot... not just once a year. Coilovers FTL

I love my ride comfort.

But go aahead organise a track day if you want to... i aint gonna stop you. all i am saying is... think of the cool places you could cruise to with $300 of fuel. and you'll still have tyres, brakes and clutch left over.

yeah i know what you mean by the things you can do for 300 bucks

thats why you let others organise track days then you go :)

tampered ones are only 150 or so

personally i already have the gear needed, thats why i really want to go >.<

i am looking at getting a 2nd set of rims to use on the track atm, my next investment lol

wow, that timesheet really puts a focus on little buzz boxes, i always thought unco was silas..

wtf was the lancer running?

and gezz, 45 laps, got fuel tanker?

7th, 8th and 13th? Thats hardly amazing... Look i am not Bagging the Sportivo... i own one FFS... all i am saying is that i think if you really want to go and spend some time at the track go for it. But i cant justify it. I would rather go somewhere and Be social.

All you guys with coilovers and slotted Rotors, strut bars and sway bars.. would definately have a blast on the track.. you sure have set your cars up like you belong there you may aswell get there .... once!

i couldn't agree more... you go for the fun of it and better yet it's legal and in a controled environment!!!

yeah it's not cheap, and yeah insurance won't cover you if you have an accident, but whats the point of having spent thousands +++ on your cars performance and handling if you can't really test it...

it's not cheap, but it's cheaper then getting caught doing a mountain run and getting your car impounded for 3 days and a paying $350+ fee just to get your car out. not to mention the label "hoon" on your record.

i'm not saying it's for everyone, but there may be other guys out there like me and bonbon who are really interested in pushing our cars in the right enviroment,

i speak for my self- but i'm in it for the experence, and to learn more about my car and it's handling characteristics, and also learning to be a consistent driver.

just my thoughts ;)
