Not too sure about the Dunlop ones that they supply. I've heard stories about car manufacturers providing tires with new cars that don't last too long, and when you replace them for the same brand and type, they last twice the distance. I doubt this is an occurrence anymore though. My Sportivo has the Michelin Energy MXV8 on it and I'm pretty sure it is what was on it when it left the dealer. So far that car has gone 40,831km and is only now starting to show a reduction in traction and grip. I would recommend these tires as a good all rounder.

As for the Yokohama, if you were to ask my opinion, I would say no. Personally, I have found the softer compound of Yoko's to wear out much faster than other tires. That is from my experience though. On a side note, I'm going to get some Adrenalin Potenza RE001 for my next change.

Had mine flat out few months ago...That was because a huge nail was pinned right in the middle of the tyre.. :P

I don't think what u think is the issue thou...U r the 1st one here to have that problem so far..

During those 15Ks, Did u check ur tyre pressures and stuff regularly? That might partly be the problems..

Just my thoughts

Dont think it would be the tyres themselves that are the problem. Just bad luck maybe.... :D Why did the tyre blow??

I had Yokahama C drives on my sportivo and got nearly 50,000 out of them. They were good tyres, heaps of grip. :D

Ive changed to pirelli dragons since getting my new rims and they are brilliant. Hope I get as good as or better k's out of them.

when i had the stock 16's on my sportivo i had the dunlop sp sport 300e tyres, and after 20000kms, they were still in fabulous condition. dunno how long they would last though, because im now in 18's with hankook ventus v8 h424 tyres. these being a grippier tyre probably wont last as long

ive got michelin and give t hem a hard time and i think they are great but they are a bit steep in price but worth it

The Bridgestone Potenza RE001 (Adrenalin) tyres are fantastic - high performance, great in the wet, excellent handling. :)

But, as with all good performance tyres, they're soft and will wear quicker than a standard tyre - they're also more expensive! :(

I prefer saving till I've got the money to buy GOOD tyres - they're the only thing keeping my car on the road!

If you've got your heart set on Yokohama tyres in particular, I would recommend the S.Drive over the C.Drive for the same reasons as above.

I'm assuming you've got 215/55/17 sized tyres - I think the Sportivos (SV6 & ZR6) use that size - in which case you could also look at the following:

DUNLOP: SP Sport 300E, Le Mans LM702

MICHELIN: Energy MXV8 (standard on the SV6 & ZR6 I think)

GOODYEAR: Excellence, LS2000

KUMHO: Ecsta ASX KU21

Hope that helps!

AT-X and Touring has Dunlop SP Sport 300E stock

on a particular street 90 degree turn near home I can feel a lack of grip

inner wheels sort of shakes even at low speed

on a Falcon forum someone recomended the Dunlop SP Sport 300E as grippy though

I also recall reviews describing the Dunlop on Aurion as grippy

Michelin's soft tyres are great of course

they were the stock on our Camry Touring

I have one of the Touring models, and yes I would have to agree with the comment about them being grippy. They do seem quite good in this respect (so long as the tyres are not a little flat... which for some reason on these tyres I find makes them grip less than usual). They do however seem to wear down a little bit, as I have done about 13,000 km and the tyres on the front are already about halfway to the treadmark - but I will get them rotated during the next service, and I think they should last to about 30,000km easily.

Regarding the shake... I do notice this too around sharp corners - particularly around roundabouts where it feels the outside tyre is scrubbing. It could just be alignment, as I suspect it could easily be, as in underground car parks in the wet for example, it tends to squeal taking a sharp corner even when really slow.

Otherwise though, I haven't had any issues with these tyres at all!

While on that subject of squeling tires, I think it may be the suspension setup on th Aurion, or some combination of its steering track because on mine with the Michelins, I get squeling when turning on smooth surfaces where other cars would be just fine. Do you also notice that when turning tightly at slow speed, the car tends to pull the steering with a bit of force towards the limits?

actually, I get some squealing both Aurion Touring and Camry Touring (1999-2002) when doing tight turns in a car park with no bumps and very flat road

I just put it down to the road surface (material)

RE001 are not expensive comparatively.

However, I agree that they are a very good tyre. I'm still learning on the track, but at Wakefield, I do low 1:09s on RE55 Semis, forced to use the RE001, I was only about 2 second off the pace. The only drawback is that the RE001s become inconsistent after a while which is not unexpected.

By the way, car in question is a NA 1980cc Honda Civic (Still street registered)
