is it just me or is it REALLY annoying driving with the GPS while charging - since the car lighter thing is down near the gears i find it extremely difficult to shift into gear 5 ! or drive with it in general LOL makes me want to just yank the thing out !

Never had the problem, i've found its easy to shift in any gears with something in the ciggie lighter

navmans suck xD, i use a tom tom XL traffic from time to time :) never gets in the way.

you could just go the other way and sit at home for a week, study the street directory and hence you won't need the GPS

Yes. I got such irritation. Have a car charger for a Tom Tom GPS GO720 and it does get in the fr@cking way!!!!

So I hard wired a (3) ciggie lighter adapter and its all good now!

Why not just get another ciggie lighter cradle from Supercheap or similar and wire it up behind the dash (under the shifter cover). Took me all of 5 mins and 10 bucks. Spent the entire last week with my sisters Tom Tom plugged in, wire routed out through rear of glove box . . . no issues whatsoever (except for the husky man voice that she wouldn't let me change)

Learn to use a street directory...

Navman will always lead you the wrong way anyway lol...

Steer clear of adding extra power outlets cause the fuses and standard wiring won't usually handle too many things running at once...
