I have a Hilux 4x4 SR5 2000 model and i am having problems with the radio loosing its memory while cranking the engine. I have to enter the security code each time the vehicle has started. This is a diesel engine and I thought that maybe the battery connections may be faulty causing voltage drop to the radio. I have renewed all battery connections. Could someone assist with this problem. Regards Darryl

has the head unit been taken out or has it been rewired somehow?

if it had been, then could be the cause of live +ive wire been connected to the ignition wire...

hope this helps

andrew,

No, all is original, nothing has been removed.

Yes I have checked the radio fuse, in fact changed it just to be sure. Looks like I'll have to pull the radio out, I was trying to avoid that. Thanks for your help.

You've probably already had the radio out or found the problem, so this is generally for anyone else.

There should be two power sources for the radio in any car, factory or aftermarket. One to turn the unit on with the key, and the other to keep the memory for the clock and stations. Both will be fused, but from two different sources (one ignition power, one battery power). So, checking the fuse marked "radio" isn't necessarily the fuse that holds the memory.

Hmm, but which one is the one for the memory then hehe. I've just made a topic about my problem but can't hurt to add it here. I need to find the fuse for the constant/memory in my '98 camry, have no idea which one it is so if anyone knows, give me a bell!

The one with constant power. Noticed anything else not working on your dash?

There is normally 2 fuse boxes in a car.. one inside and one under the bonnet ... check the one under bonnet , will be called back up or something
