Dynaudio sounds very nice, but if you enjoy Focal you may not like Dynaudio. They're just, well opposite of each other.

Still, give it an audition ;)

+1, i agree they are opposites.

There are definitely places in NSW and VIC that sells them as there are quite a few people competing in comps with them. The 242s that i was talking about is actually the Esotec range as the Esotars are a LOT more expensive! I had a set of 240s, the predecessor or the 242s which netted me quite a few wins in SQ comps. Upgraded them to the previous model Esotars a few years back. Both are awesome, just that the latter was even better.

What is that big tweeter from Dynaudio? Is that the esotars?

I saw it a lot in cars, but I have a feeling they are actualy for home hi-fi. That is the best tweeter I ever heard, it beats Morel Supremo and Scanspeak (same big tweeters type). But everyone told me the woofer is lacking in punch, and the sample I heard uses a different woofer with custom 6th Order passive crossover. This is for home hi-fi.

Yeah that is the previous model Esotar tweeters. The are massive and weigh more than the 6.5in woofers I have in my doors. The detail and warmth from them is amazing (aural heaven) lol. BUT in saying that I won more competitions with my dynaudio 240s (their basic 2 way set with the normal size tweeters) because of the ease of install, tuning, and positioning. There isnt many places you can install something as big and heavy as the esotars :P.

That is the Esotar and that is a 6.5in woofer beside it!

The new Esotars however is a lot smaller because of the use of stronger magnets. They sound just as awesome too, but heaps easier in terms of install and positioning.

The ones I'm talking about are the Esotec 242 (GT means slimmer fit so it'll work better with shallow doors) rrp: $1099

The top of the range one the Esotars are EXPENSIVE as you can see and they dont come as a set.

If you are in Brisbane, I'd recommend visiting Northfield Moorooka as they have the 242's on the board AND the Esotars in a demo car for you to listen to.

http://www.northfieldmoorooka.com.au/

This is where I get everything, and all of them are very knowledgable. They are also the organisers of the SQ competitions in QLD! They will even send products to you if there isnt a stockist near you.

http://www.northfieldmoorooka.com.au/gallery%20TWEAKD.htm <-- the demo car with the Esotars. Its a TOYOTA :P

[edit]

Here you go all stockists are listed!

[edit2] I don't work for any car audio shop or in the industry in any way shape or form. Just a happy customer. :)

i went to a SQ comp recently and looked at most of the car audio specs in the pros, most of them had IDmax 10inch (even though they are for spl, in a sealed box they are tight but still punches a boom, good thing they can come with a chrome basket for another $100) i also saw focal fronts ran by orion amps with the alpine head units and the h701 processor unit. since the h701 is out of date h100 does a similar job).

Sq isnt just what you have for gear it is also how you set up as well. but the set up you got looks very nice just dont forget to sound proof and get speaker defusers (they make a big difference)

Mmmmmmmm!!!! I would have to disagree heaps! No offence to anyone running some of those equipment but some of it are "generic" branded products. If you google "option audio" you only get australian pages even though australia is probably one of the smallest car audio markets out there. Think about why that might the case.

I would use "tried and tested" equipment.

thanks stylsh i went and talked to a expert and i have decided to not get the option audio amp because it will under power the subwoofers so i will instead go with a soundstream 4000d amp which will give each sub 2000rms which is need for them to come alive.

if people have never heard of audio pulse they are awsome subwoofers there big daddy subwoofer is the lms ultra which is one of the best subs in the world the ones im getting are the model under it so they are great for sq. cdt well they are great speakers so thats y im getting them

Out of curiousity have you actually heard the equipment. Working off reviews may be good for a lot of things but audio is very very very subjective. What 1 person or even hundreds likes doesnt mean you will like it. One of the best in the world may not sound better than other or even cheaper alternatives to your ears. Its always best to listen to the speakers and make your own judgement.
