Which to do first?

Recommended Posts

in the near future im looking to get a cat back exhaust fitted, and a TRD CAI. But have only enough money for one at a time... so what i wanna know is, would the exhaust setup be different for a car with and without the CAI installed? or does it make no difference, that means i can go ahead with my exhaust first, then later on get my CAI? instead of getting my CAI first, then fitting the exhaust to suit the CAI?... help! :|

It will make no difference in the end, there isn't a CAI specific exhaust system. So you can go ahead and purchase your exhaust and then at a later time add a CAI as well.

Because the two work well hand in hand, whichever you decide to add second will most probably give you the biggest gain, as was the example with Danz.

I did exhaust first, and will be doing CAI tomorrow. As I wrote in another thread, the 1zz-fe seems to require an exhaust mod for the CAI to have full potential. Danz has also said something to that effect.

Yes, you need to do both. It will synergise. Which ever you did 1st, it won't matter.

Stivo's are the same. CAI will make difference but combined with an exhaust system the gains are there to be achieved.

Remember this- The more you get into the engine the more you have to get out.
