Every morning when I start my car first go it sounds like its choking before it revs I'm not sure whats the problem.

Has any of you members have the same issue like mine?

Please reply

Thank you.

Something Similar happen to one of my mates 2008 model Sportivo. The dealer changed the spark plugs, that seems to have fix the issue.

If your car is parked on an angle driveway that can also cause it to choke.

Sometimes (but rarely) Battery can also be a factor.

Thank you for replying. Sorry but im not sure if it would be the spark plugs or parking on a angle.

u need to be more specific to narrow down your issue. Do you get this sound the moment after it turns over, or does it start with no issues then when you first accelerate off, it sounds like it's 'choking'?

I don't know how to explain the problem. When I start it first time its like something clogging the motor to start smoothly.

After that its fine the car will start normally when I try the second time. I wonder if its the fuel. I purchase the car a month ago as a ex demo with 15,000kms. Maybe the user used ethanol fuel I'm not sure sorry.

Buy a bottle of injector cleaner and run that through with your next tank of fuel. Once that tank has been used, see if the situation improves. If so, it quite possibly was dirty injectors.

If that doesn't fix it, next time you cold start it, add a bit of throttle (just a little bit) and see if that starts easier. It's less likely to be this, but cleaning your throttle body won't do any harm.

Did the issue only occur recently... or has it been like this since you purchased it? If recently, then it is possible you had a bad batch of fuel. In that case, still put in a bottle of injector cleaner next time you fill up.

BTW would Shell Vpower help this problem

Well if a bad batch of fuel was the case, putting in some good quality fuel (depending on how much existing fuel is in the tank first) can help fix it. It's not a simple yes or no whether it will fix the issue because the cause has not yet been determined.

Thanks for helping DJKOR I'll see how it goes.

My Grande has just started doin the same thing. Not everytime maybe once or twice a week,

only the first time you go to start in in the morning.

It kind of idles low and ruff before it goes normal after a couple of seconds then everything is fine.

Was gonna get it checked out this week

It's probably a stupid suggestion, but have you checked your air filter? Dontt exactly know how it could tie in being a cold start only issue... maybe the greater air requirement due to the higher revs when cold and the initial resistance of air flow if really dirty. Just one of those things I wouldn't overlook just in case.

  • 3 weeks later...

I finally had time to drop my car to toyota for the to check it out.

The day I went to drop it it never done it, so I left it overnight so hopefully it might of done it first thing in the mornin.

But just my luck everything was running normal. They hooked it up to their computer and found everything running the way its

suppose to. <_<

All they could work out was that I could of got a bad batch of fuel from somewhere and its slowly passing thru going back to normal again.

What I did. I found a brand new (and busy) BP servo and filled my car up full tank of BP Ultimate. Best you can put in your car. It's good because its new which means new petrol tanks underground that are not contaminated or rotting away like older servos, and busy is good as well because it means fuel gets used quick and new batches always come around.

Since then I swear my car is running so much better. On cold starts my car would have a really really high smell of burnt fuel coming from the exhaust. Now its just a very faint smell of fuel.

I've also continued to use BP after ditching Shell V-power.

DJk, what would you recommend for injector cleaner for the Aurion?

Best you can put in your car.

That statement is a matter of personal opinion. Just saying.

The only thing like this that I would recommend is 'Fuel Doctor'. Google it and have a read about it.

I have good news I taken my car in for its full service last week I must say since then my car starts great i have no problem with starting it . Toyota couldn't find anything wrong, the car was perfectly OK. I still use Shell V-power

to keep it running clean.

Thanks for the reply.
