TRD SHORT SHIFT...HELP...urgent

Hi all,

please help, i sold my TRD short shift to a member but he thinks that the bolts are missing from the kit, i have not install this on my car because it is new but does anyone know if u use the original bolts or does it comes with new bolt to hold the bottom????

hey mate. I dun think it doesn't becuz when I bought my car. It came with it. The original was gIven to me but it didn't have any bolts with it.

I'm pretty sure it reuses the stock bolts :)

He needs to rtfm.

The first two pages of the installation manual are in japanese, but after that it's in english and lists the parts that come with the kit. Bolts are NOT included in the kit so definitely reuse original bolts.

I have a hunch that he hasn't replaced the rubber bushings with the metal bushings, and has just placed the metal ones under the existing rubber ones - now his original bolts aren't long enough so thinks he needs new ones ? :whistling:

Your assumptions are incorrect. The TRD Quick Shifter comes with its own cradle, 4x metal base bushings, shift pattern stickers and TRD ball gear knob. The reason for me returning the item was due to the holes in the metal base bushings being too big for the stocks screws. My main concern was that, if metal base bushings are provided by TRD, why wouldn't they also supply custom TRD screws that would have a thicker diameter on the top half of the screw to be a snug fit for the metal bushings hole and the bottom of the screw to be the same size as the stock screws which would screw into the holes in the vehicle's body frame. Or why not just provide metal base bushings that have the correct hole size to fit the stock screws instead.

So I would like to reiterate that the problem was having a screw too thin or the metal base bushings simply being drilled to large. I'm quite fussy what goes into my car, as I do not intend to resell this car in future. Therefore, it might be ok for someone else, but it's not ok with me. I am returning the item back to Jeff due to this very reason as we have discussed. I told him just to minus the premium postage costs from the original amount I had paid him, so I am the one who is incurring all expenses -$35 plus return postage I have paid $18. The TRD cradle was not installed in the car, but was in the process of being installed up to the point where I popped one of the stock screws in the metal bushings on the TRD cradle. My car was not test driven with the TRD cradle installed at all, so it is still new, in the same condition I had received it from Jeff.

In addition, once the stock cradle is uninstalled, there is no need to fiddle with its bushings or any of its parts, as the entire unit gets replaced by the TRD one.

As for the installation manual, it comes with both a Japanese version and also an English version. It's not that difficult after all having followed the workshop tute as well.

I don't know if it comes with bolts or not but the assembly should fit the same way as the original if the TRD shift is genuin so using the same bolts should not be a problem !!!!!

that is correct ..... no additional bolts are supplied ...... other than the bronze shifter base bushings no other bits and pieces are really supplied from memory

It shouldn't be a problem.

The stock screws from memory have a washer which is used to hold the cradle down in place.

I've had the trd quick shift kit in my car for about 5 years now and have not had a single problem with it. The factory bolts work fine as does the metal bushes included with the kit.

      Query about the correct rotors for 2006 ACV40 Camry.

      Hi, I'm looking at a set of front rotors for an ACV40 2006, 2.4L Camry. I got a good price on some RDA's at Sparesbox. However both RDA8112 and RDA7686 show as for my car and I'm wondering what the difference is and if there were changes to the rotors during the model production.       Your solution is akin to suggesting that switching to a different car manufacturer would resolve the issue. However, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for using an iPhone as you do.

      Turboed Corolla Overbuilt?

      that engine will be fine, the rods are the main thing to be concerned about. The 2860 is a decent turbo for the 1zz but in this day and age I'd go for a G25-550. The injectors might be on the small side, we run DW1000's. You need a full length injector, the shorter injectors with adaptors like ID1050x dont fit the 1zz head. You don't need an aftermarket intake manifold, if you do go down that path, avoid the CNC innovations unit, it's garbage. Do the boost control with a MAC valve and control it with the aftermarket ECU of your choice, I use Link stuff on most of my builds with the G4x Storm as the minimum. I also wire a fuel pressure sensor and oil pressure sensor to the ECU in my installs. Use a decent intercooler, the better cores (ARE, PWR, Garrett, Vibrant, Plazmaman, Hypertune) work a lot better than the chinese stuff like Aeroflow. a 450x250-300 fits fairly well with custom end tanks to route the cooler pipes through next to the radiator Don't forget about the clutch and gearbox. These days I like the Uniclutch twinplate, Above 300whp you'll want to think about upgrading the 3rd and 4th gears in the box also with the SSC (Hollinger) gear set and install an LSD of your choice. If you're going to give it a hard time, you'll also want an oil cooler. I like the HKS thermostat type sandwich plates and setrab or mocal oil coolers with -10 speedflow fittings/lines (Chinese AN fittings neck down to a lot smaller internal diameter in their bends, not great for flow) You'll also want to think about brakes, Celica or Sportivo front calipers will bolt on with sportivo discs as a starting point. To have somewhere like Tunehouse do the work you'll want to budget somewhere between 20-40K

      I did the mathematics myself regarding costs vs benefits for fuel injector cleaner. I have changed from 91ULP to 95PULP and 98PULP. Price difference can be about 13 -20 cents. Compared to 91ULP, Premium quality fuel should have a better quality additive package designed to have superior engine cleaning capabilities so the engine can perform at their best.

      Camry Touring 2010 A/C Issues.

      Hi Guys, My Camry 2010 Touring just had a regas done on it and the next day for some reason it wasn't blowing cold air but the next day it is and now working with nice cold air BUT every now and then we can hear and feel a buzz for a few secounds and today while my sister took my car I could her like a mild knocking sound when stopped but goes away when driving off. Any idea what this could be and the A/C is always working now for now.
