Branno's Mixup

Alrighty,

I haven't made one of these yet so here it goes.

I started off with an 08 ZRE Wildfire.

Mum wrote off her car so I had do donate it back to her,

Dad then bought me a car with the insurance claim money which lead to me getting a 1998 Holden vectra with 66,000kms on the clock.

I had it for around 5 weeks until last saturday, The unthinkable happened, I was at ashgrove where a learner driver pulled out infront of me which resulted in me stopping suddenly,

The driver of the car behind me (Ford Territory) did not see that I had stopped and ran up my *****.

I took it into repairs and they quoted $7366.16 for the parts. Apparently the chassis was bent in, so a part of the floor had to be replaced.

It will most probably be a write off, But I am still waiting to hear from the insurance company about what is going to happen, If so, I will probably buy a 1997 Celica or a 1990 Mazda Mx-5. Im leaning more towards the Mx-5. But what do you guys think?

Well, Im leaning well towards the mx-5 side of things,

1. Its RWD

2. More fuel efficient

3. I find it a "cooler" car on the streets.

Mick, if you are going to the meet on thursday, ill talk to you more about my accident.

I wouldn't exactly say the MX-5 is "cooler" on the streets, but each to their own.

And the RWD vs. FWD argument for the sake of what it is rather than what it can do... I will stay out of that one.

lets be honest here, both are hairdressers cars.

Its just that the MX5 is a more fun hairdressers car.

Agreed. Despite it's obvious advantages I severely dislike the MX5.

I'd go for the silly car.

Mick... If I saw you driving around in an MX-5, I would question your sexuality.

Yes the car is more fun... but some things you need to make an exception. But everyone is always going to think differently.

Find yourself a 2ZZ corolla or celica, they will destroy anything you have mentioned so far, cheap parts, cheap insurance, no hassles, reliablity, need i go on...

The MX5 IS a hairdressers car, the 90's celica has a motor from a camry, and the SW20, try finding one

I'd say stick with the Toyota - didn't the Top Gear Christmas special teach you anything?

"I make no bones about it, I still maintain this is a fantastic little sports car... but I haven't bonded with it. Steering's lovely, ride's lovely but the one thing you don't do is love it."

There's alot of MX5 bagging going on here <_< <_<

Go the MX5. Endless amounts of parts available and a hell of a lot of fun.

The NA6 may be a lil slow so try to find a later model NA8. I have a hard time differentiating between the difference in power between my stivo and my MX. But the MX handles so much better and is way more forgiving.
