VSC Off and can't get it back on.
The VSC just came up as off. I've tried everything to turn it back on. It happened straight after an auto electrician did a test on the system. They found no faults. I thought they just pressed the button or something. Usual. Press the VSC button. VSC button in nuteral and reverse. Unhooked battery to reset it selves. Took it to Toyota dealer who ran a diagnostic but not showing any errors. They reckon I have to book it in for them to look. Sometime in Feb. -

Wiper gremlins
I have lived with a problem in my wipers for over a year now which I have been unable to solve. I won't confuse you more than I will with the different scenarios that occurred with this but over time I have narrowed it down to a few specifics. It started in a moment in far north Queensland and my wipers started without switching and the washers also and they pumped until empty when I disconnected the washer pump. Believe it or not I disconnected every fuse and relay connected with the wipers (as far as they were labelled) and they wouldn't stop. I drove to othe farm where i was heading and the friend there was an auto electrician and he couldn't work it out even with his network of friends. Trying the fuses in the cabin only produced further odd actions. I ended up removing the wipers and they just kept rotating with out the blades. Back down here in NSW after trying different things I found of the 2 white plugs on the stalk if I removed the smaller plug that would stop the intermittent function which eliminates the gremlin until I plug it back in. However I cannot hook up the washer pump as when it triggers it will not stop for anything till disconnected. I have the small plug half out with the shroud off and push it in when it rains but its a cow. Strangest thing of all, wait for it...... I confirmed after many roundabouts that it only triggers on right hand turns and will do the normal six swipes as in the washer function then rest till the next right hand turn! I kid you not.. Due to a seat belt error light I had the clock spring replaced and I bought a new stalk as part of my fault finding. Its so strange I'm wondering if another auto electrician will go through all the same procedures to find out what I know. Can anyone shed any light on this problem or do these strange things only happen to me? regards Boolaroo -

How many km's has your Kluger done?
I have a 2005 Kluger Grande that will hit 500,000km in just 140km. Still going strong. Original engine. Been well maintained all its life. Treat it right it treats you right. Best car I have ever owned. Bought it for my retirement. Taken it all over Australia but no real off-road travel. Like I say, treat it right. -

spark plug replacement
Ash, that's actually very well said & I feel quite true. The person doing the work isn't always who you think it's going to be or the highest qualified, just like builders, they will use apprentices or "labourers" to do the work. I also had "trust issues" when I was younger with my new cars, hence my reasoning for doing the work myself most of the time. I learnt a lot along the way & gained tools & knowledge to suit. My mate mechanic also helped out when I wasn't sure. I'm also so greatful for the internet.- 1

Kluger button key
Unfortunately, you have not detail which methods have not worked for your vehicle. Understandable if there were too many and similar with minor differences. If you have the same or similar design door remote as this YouTube video then maybe the programming steps will work for you. Please reply to confirm whether it works or not. -

Whine on startup..
I remember starting the engine one Saturday morning and hearing a whining sound. Definitely new and not heard before. Initial thought was that it could be a pulley bearing relating to the serpentine belt. Further check revealed that it was the water pump bearing. Ended up ordering and replacing the water pump. -

Aurion 2005 transmission issue
Can you provide details of your vehicle. My Aurion ATX has a build date of October 2006. When I purchased it back in 2016[?] the odometer reading was approx. 160,000 kms. The vehicle maintenance history was definitely incomplete and questionable. Since 2016, I had done a number of changes to the automatic transmission fluid [ATF]. Gear changes were smoother after these changes of ATF. Odometer reading is now 290,000 kms and no issues with changes between the gears. What has been described indicates that the ATF is well overdue for a pan drain and fill. This may resolve the reported transmission issues rather than requiring a replacement transmission. Best to find a transmission shop that has had experience with servicing your specific Toyota transmission. -

spark plug replacement
Good comment. Big difference between an apprentice and certified A Grade Mechanic. When it comes to other people working on my vehicle, I have "trust issues". Precisely why I have preferred to DIY except for specialised tasks well beyond my skill and knowledge levels. I also highly appreciate the detailed comprehensive posts by Forum members that will greatly assist others in their DIY endeavours to do it right the 1st time. -

Anything to watch out for if buying LateModel High Km's
Here is this related thread on the Forum relating to Kluger towing experience. Unbraked towing capacity of 700-750 kgs will easily handle a correctly loaded box trailer. Comes back to how much your "small boat and trailer" actually weights including any additional gear.
