Replacing original Sportivo tyres

Hi guys,

I'm looking to replace the original tyres on a 2005 Corolla Sportivo.

I was very happy with the Bridgestone Turanza's since day 1 but wouldn't mind a comparison.

Does anyone know what the original tyre specs are/were?

Would appreciate any info and recommendations :)

they are 195/55 R16.

depends what budget u looking for and what u want in terms of handling and handling capability..

i would say Kumho ku31 is a good budget all round performer

but if u premium ride quality tyre i would say the bridgestone potenza 050 but im not sure if they have the original size

Change to a 205/50R16 tyre as it is more common than 195/55R16 and thus cheaper. I like the Bridgestone RE001 myself.

I think the 205/50R16 is the way to go.

I want to keep my Sportivo as original as possible with the best fit and looking tyre on there so I am happy to spend that little bit extra.

The factory and current Bridgstone Turanza's are great and would be happy to stick with another Bridgstone tyre.

Can you recommend a good tyre place in Sydney that specialise in Bridgestone or Sportivo's for that matter? ;)

How are you finding the tyres? I'm also looking at them and been quoted $189 with fitting and balance for the Bridgestone Adrenalin 205/50R16's and wanted to see what you and others thought of them please.

I've read some comments online (various forums/web sites) that some report very poor wet weather performance once the tires get a little ware on them? ; Also some have reported wheel spin in the wet when previous brands did not (eg, KU31 in one case).

I also found the following site that listed user’s reviews and they are down the list a little, but only with 16 votes so far and to be honest these are personal review so no read data to back it from what I can see and other similar web sites report different positioning so a little confused at the moment and your and any other users advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just admit that I put a set of maxxis street cruisers on my sportivo r16 205/50 they are really good no wheel spin in the wet I'm very happy with them and only $130 ea

I use bridgestone potenza RE001 MYSELF 205/50/16R and its perfect.

goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3's for me, in 205/50R16. the best tyre i've ever come across :D

not only does the tread look awesome, they're super sticky

I've always had Dunlop SP 3000A 195/55R16 87V on the car. I am pretty sure they came standard on my particular car as the spare is the same tyre. So I have stuck with them. I get about 50,000 km out of a set. Interesting to note, the spare is made in Great Britain and the tyres on there now are made in Germany. However they are a good tyre @ $237 per tyre.

I have used RE001 and Dunlop SP 3000 .. If im not wrong the Dunlops are silica based.Between the 2 tires i loved the Dunlops.Great grip regardless of weather.

My most recent set were RE001 and now i have RE-01R which were put on 2 weeks ago.

IMO the best size is 205/50/16 .The only negative i found with RE001 was the replacement cost.

I personally keep away from Falkens , Silverstones , Yellow Seas , Nankang and other entry level tyres.

Khumo , Hankook ,Michelin , Dunlop , Bridgestone and Goodyear i would recommend.(there are other good brands that i may have missed)

It’s good to heard that many have not noticed any issues with the Bridgestone Adrenalin 205/50R16's as this is the one I was leaning towards until I started reading about so many saying they were shocking in the wet with poor grip, but looks like you guys have not had any issues so feeling more confident with the tyre now.

As mentioned I’ve been quoted $189 (first and only quote so far) and don’t want to spend too much more than that per tyre to be honest… If anyone else has feedback/comparisons on the Bridgestone RE001’s please post your comments as well.

Thanks for the details... I've also found that KMart seem to have good prices and at the moment they also have a buy 4x tyres and get a $100 voucher:

Looks like the RE002's have been released in Australia.. Bridgestone just gave me a quote on them and said they will be replacing the current RE001's eventually..

If any one's tried them or knows the main benefits between the RE001 and RE002 would be good to hear your feedback.
