As tittle says, bit worried about my turbo (not my rolla) lol, it's got a cheapie guage from who I bought it off, oil pressure seems good on cold start up, but when oil reaches 90' degrees, and I've noticed the guage plays up sometimes, it read about 4-6psi at idle, 45psi @ 3k unloaded, bout the same on freeway 3krpm..

Thing is at the lights when it's low pressure. My dash oil light doesn't come on? So would it be cheap guage stuffing up? Or something worse,

Oil level good, new oil, checked pressure sensor connections, no engine noises rattles, etc, drives good!

Thoughts ?

So my boost gauge reads kpa & not psi so these are rough conversions.

Cold start seems to be 80-85 psi

Idle once @ running temp I.e 90 ish degrees seems to be 25psi to 30 psi

Coasting @ 80kmh unloaded in 4th or 5th seemed to be the same at 40-45psi

Hope that helps

My numbers match up with Bill's pretty much (minus turbo though).

Once above 3000rpm, the pressure should remain pretty much the same.

My coasting pressure is some what 55psi..

I'm driving home now from the snow..

I changed oil, the pressure was too low for my liking to thicker, it was 5/30 I went 10/40, at idle it's picked up from 2-4psi to 18psi..

I'll see how it goes with it

When I did the oil change I fanned out the oil filter for metal shaving

Nil.. So yeh I'll leave it at that.. For now...

Either that gauge is dicey or you may have an oil pump issue. Seems very low, my Camry runs at about 75psi at idle as well.

Yeah with the turbo I'd suggest running 10w40.

I'm running that from royal purple ..... Does the trick,

depends on the engine...

My forester runs 90psi cold at idle, 80psi hot

a 4age can run anywhere from 4-70psi
