Are you on a QLD or a NSW license?

Actually it's 13/7/4 (Blacks/Greens/Reds respectively). Also, that is the threshold number, you can accrue up to and including 12 points on your Blacks, but the 13th (and any further) point is when license suspension etc happens. The confusion comes around people thinking the numbers should be 12/6/3 to represent the number of points you can accrue but still continue to drive (another way to think about it is that you have to have at least 1 point REMAINING on your license to be able to drive).

off topic, if u get booked in another state speeding, running reds etc. and u hold an interstate license, can u still loose points? or do u just get fined?

I believe you are still up for the monetary penalty but I am unsure of the financial penalty. It will depend on the state as the legislation is different.

IIRC, a certain person from QLD was banned from driving in one of the southern states (Vic or NSW) as a result of an accumulation of demerits. Still had to pay the fines though.
