They're proving very hard to find at any wreckers here in Melbourne.

Does anyone know if the aftermarket ones are exactly the same from the inside?

What happend you yours K? are your selling yours?

Mine are fine bro, I just wanted to play around with them a bit

Can anyone confirm if the Sportivo headlights are different from the non-Sportivo Aurions? And if so, in what way?

Posted

Yes - auto leveling function is on sportivo lights where non sportivo doesn't have it. HID vs Halogen if you get the idea.

Dave, would that change any measurements of the internals? Basically, is it just a basic aurion head with the auto levelling mechanism installed?

Same headlight size but with auto levelling mechanism installed. All headlight sizing should be same on all Aurions grades since they share the same body panelling except skirts on sportivo grades.

To get the idea...do you have mates near you that has a plain jane ATX or touring SE like mine (both share the same halogen lights) and compare that size of headlights with your sportivo headlights which should include the auto leveling function if you have HID (I am guessing you might have it)?

EDIT: forgot to mention your model is 2010 which is same as mine. Facelift models started after 2009 for GSV40 ones therefore the headlights should be same size. GSV50 are the ones with big ugly sportivo black bumpers but thinner headlights. PRE-facelift headlights would not fit due to new panelling on the front of the facelifts.

Thanks Dave. I bought this car off my uncle who had a minor accident in it and had to replace the headlights, but he's not sure if its Sportivo ones he got. How would I check? What's the Auto Leveling function supposed to look like and where is it located? Is there any way of telling without opening up the headlight?

Sorry for taking so long to reply...

HID headlights on sportivo should have clear-ish tinge on the lenses where with halogen the lenses are not clear. Example below.

The above link is the facelift one. You can see this one is different to the other one below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2009-2010_Toyota_Aurion_(GSV40R)_AT-X_sedan_02.jpg

From your signature you had your headlights modified (can see blue tinge).

As for auto level function, it came with headlights sorry I have no idea what it looks like (tried to find it on google). But best guess, look behind on yours and the presara.

they look like stock lights to me, only the Presara models come with HIDs fitted from factory (The new ZR6 and Preara models come with HIDs now)

the auto leveling gadget is located at the rear of the car as it then sends the signal to the lights to dip up or down (depending how much weight is in the car)

Hi Dave,

I don't think the GSV40R's came with factory HID's on the Sportivo models. The Sportivo linked on wikipedia with the clear lens doesn't have HID's. The easiest way to tell if it were HID equipped from factory is to look for the washer covers which would be directly under the headlights as required by ADR law: 7XTFXB-Resized640x480.jpg

This is a Presara - notice the square shaped bumps under the headlights. They are required for all legal HID systems, that's probably the easiest way to tell.

Aiden's correct in that the GSV50R's gained the HID's in the ZR6. The autolevelling function of HID's does a test lower/raise when you turn on the headlights so you can see the light moving against a flat wall.

I think they're the appropriate headlights for your model UIK. The headlight is a bit darker behind the projector and has the clear lens as Dave said.

Isn't that where parker lights are?

Parker light (left side), driving lights (the middle lenses) and high beam (right side)...um I am not sure if I am right? Guys can you confirm that?

Yes you are correct brother

Hey guys I would like your opinions on Sportivo taillights. I'm not really a fan of the clear taillights. I was thinking dechroming them, painted the housing matt black, than tinting the outside with a film tint. It will look similar to Defyantsv work but with the tinted film.

On the other hand, I really like the red taillights for the 2010 Aurion and found a pair of these l lamps to replace the clears

I've asked a few people and gotten mixed v reactions. B what do you guys think looks better?

Go for the red tail lights. If that's what you want to make yourself unique. I am pretty happy with my rear lights.

Dave you got the clears?

My car is Aurion Touring SE and yes I have the clears. My car is the facelift model and was one of the last Touring SE ones before the new Aurions came out. My car was built february 2012 but lucky for me it arrived just after the infamous 2012 March hail storm. I always did like the clears on the black or silver Aurions. Disliked the clear on other coloured ones.

Atm my brother is using my car until mid July then I take my car back! He needed it for work while his gf's V6 camry is on its way out. So instead of taking taxi or transport to his work up in the hills (no transport in his working area). he is borrowing my car while saving up money for a new one. I work in Perth CBD and live in across Swan River so a short bus ride each way anyway.

I replaced mine with clear, only because that's what i could get since my red ones were cracking. Do prefer the clear though.
