K&N Apollo

Recommended Posts

I got the adaptor from a spare airbox that i had lying around. I dont know if it's better than a CAI, debatable question, it's definetly not as loud, the exposed pod on a CAI makes alot of noise. The drivability is much improved on the car, but most of all the throttle response when youre cruising in 6th at 100kph is much more noticeable than before.

I got home today after 45 minutes of driving, jumped out of the car and popped up the bonet. I went to touch the K&N apollo and to my surprise it wasnt even luke warm it was cold. The rubber hosing going back into the throttle body was warm, but there is definetly cold air flowing through there and it pulls harder than ever. Its the perfect match with the CES exhaust. My advice to anyone out there considering a CAI, give this thing a go, saves you a bit of cash, take it from me ive tried alot of different inductions and this is my pick of the lot.

no difference. What u do is, go buy 2.75' L shape silicon, 2.75' L shape alluminium intake pipe (Or PVC if u want, hehe), and the grab MAF sensor adapter available in autobarn. Oh also buy 2x 3' silicon hose to secure ur maf sensor to the intake pipe. And just before the bank manager thought you're done with your credit card, slap in the apollo and rubber pipe to the list.

i had a similar unit on my holden barina. dit was good goo but the CAI was sounding great and had better gain becasuse the air coming in was far cooler. as that K&N pod heats up the air coming in is heated up instantly.

Hi Lucio, thanks for the post. Few questions though:

  1. Is this installable in the 1ZZ?
  2. Does the unit have a bracket securing it or does it dangle?
  3. Where did you buy this from?

I assume it is installable for the 1zz. The unit doesent have a bracket, i made one, got it from Autobarn.

The pod doesent heat up as you can attach a hose from the pod to the front of the car.

ok man. each to there own! i like it! but because its closed up and its under the hood it does get hot.no matter what heat shield you have.

for me the further away the cone is from the motor the better!
