Hi guys,

im new here.

just wondering if anyone has painted Corolla Sportivo rims.

i did a search and found a pic of a set sprayed metaliic charcoal. Looks hot.

I couldnt find wheel paint in that colour K&H and VHT dont have that colour wheel paint.

I didnt want to get Engine enamel so i went to get some Whiteknight SQUIRTS , $6.74 a can.

What do you guys reckon?

my friend had his alloys painted and it all just flaked off after a bit of driving.

Ill be getting my wheels powder coated soon. lets hope that lasts longer.

My brother spray painted his WRX rims with GOLD.

You need to prime it first then need couple of good decent layers :) Took him about 3 days to do the whole car.

If I had a S'tivo I'd paint the stockers white. Do panel beaters/paint shops do that kinda thing?

Wouldnt the heat from the brakes make the paint a bit dodgey with pressure pack paint?

me and vyet sprayed our stock rims with VHT high gloss black with primer and clear coat and its ok now but powder coating would be much better but ours was a diy so its fun and took a few hours heres some pics

i had my rims painted by the place i bought them, and they did the crappest job... seems to be one thin layer of paint, and half of it has worn off already..

there's nothing wrong with spraying them - i thought it looked good, but make sure you do the right steps.. primer then paint a few coats...

otherwise powdercoating seems to be a great way to go about it to...

What sort of shops do powder coating though?

Tom what are you gonna do when the rest of the paint wears off yours? Sand it off and go silver?

Places that do powdercoating of course. Although these places usually specialise in powdercoating all sorts of metal and steel. Stuff like fences, gates, poles, etc. But they also do anything that's metal or steel including wheels.

Just a note if anyone is powdercoating over another layer of paint, it's best to strip the paint off to bare metal/steel first or the end result won't be very good... unless you are going black. I had the problem of white becoming pale white with a tinge of yellow (due to rust) because the new white powder was sprayed over the original white paint. Ended up stripping about 3 layers of paint and redoing the whole process. Costly and time consuming :(

Awesome, my wheels were second hand when I got them and they have 2 or 3 scars that make people question my driving when they look at them lol.

I'm gonna look for a place in Canberra that does powder coating. I'm pretty sold on white wheels on a white car... Some like it some don't. What do you guys think?

White on white is looks great IMO. It's the only matching colour combination I really like (black on black isn't bad either).

Oh yeah, make sure you sand those marks really well too so after the powdercoat is on, you can't see the mark at all. Preparation is the key! :)
