Hello all. I have the 1zz-fe engine

2002 Toyota Corolla Acsent Hatchback

my coolant levels are low and I’m stuck on which coolant I should use. Should I use toyota long life coolant or can I grab an alternative from super cheap auto or similar parts store? Please any answers will be very appreciated. Thankyou

Safe bet would be the Toyota Long Life Coolant.

Because I rarely go to a dealership, I would be more likely to go to SuperCheap Auto, AutoBarn or Repco depending upon current price. However, I would have a look at the product selection from either Penrite or Nulon before going to buy.

Not familiar with the car but cos it's an 02 Toyota I'm guessing it's as Ash mentioned the LLC mixed 50% with distilled water which is what I always use on my ol' mans Camry. You can swap it out for an alternative Nulon or Penrite product but that would mean you dumping & flushing the system complete.

What the others said basically and just use a product that complies with the factory spec. In your case it will be the red LLC coolant.

I had a 2001 Corolla with 190,000km and I used Nulon coolant for years without any problems, but now I use Toyota coolant because I don't want to void the warranty.

Toyota don't make coolant, maybe they get it from the same place...something to think about.

I wouldn't be surprised if they own the company that makes the coolant.

There is an excellent discussion of coolant by the CAR CARE NUT at where he specifies coolant by model year

The Car Care Nut always explains this in a simple, logical manner. Great Guy.

You can tell that was one of his early days video. He's a bit more polished these days.
