Front oil cooler hose

Hi, new to site.  I’m sure there would be a post here for my question.  Is there or has there been a recall for the front oil cooler hose on 2grfe engines.  Mine let go tonight.  Touch wood no major damage internally, well that we know of yet.   240k old.  Shall I just replace the single hose or is there a better newer alternative.  TIA.

To my knowledge, Toyota Australia has not done an official recall for all vehicles but will replace the front cooler hoses with an all metal version.

You should contact Toyota Australia/Customer service 1800 869 682

They will advise what will need to be done to have your vehicle repaired. Please note that your vehicle will most likely need to be towed to the nearest Toyota Dealership.

As you would have discovered, there is rapid engine oil loss when one of these rubber hoses fails.

There are a number of posts on this Forum which I would recommend reading before contacting Toyota Australia/Customer service 1800 869 682 Even though your vehicle is more than 10 years old, Toyota Australia will pay for the repair. It is a known fault.

As already stated Toyota should replace these free of charge.

Mine were originally replaced with the so called upgraded rubber version, they refused the metal ones. Apparently a 10 year warranty for the upgraded rubber ones. Anyway long story short the upgraded ones failed after 5 years, were subsequently replaced with all metal ones at no cost.

Was just very lucky happened pulling on to driveway at home, wonder what the story would have been if a blown engine.

More stories on the USA Forum. Happened to one owner while driving on a freeway. Oil light came on and he pulled over immediately. Vehicle was then towed to a dealership and engine ended up being OK.  You ignore oil warning lights at your own peril.

I'll never understand how they thought rubber would be suitable to plumb hot oil ! 

It has to be metal. A no brainer really.

Yesterday my 2008 kluger caught fire from the oil hose rupturing onto the exhaust while i was dropping my kids to school, the fire has completely destroyed the engine and entire front end. I wasn't aware of the fault with the rubber hose, Ive only had the car 2 years. .I did have Insurance but realised it had expired therefore I'm now without my car and have no idea what to do.       Anyone? After some research I think the toyota dizzy I need is 19050-11010. I went to local toyota wreckers and asked for a dizzy for Sao (as other wreckers paseo engine been pulled along with dizzy) And they sold me a ep91 starlet dizzy looks Identical from out side diff toyota p/n 19020-11380 stripped apart and compared Insides similar but the starlet one has an igniter module built inside dizzy and Sao has igniter module in engine bay on firewall. The toyota wreckers reckon it'll work but I can't see how it can. As different p/n and different internals and different colour wires but same 4way wire connector and 2 way. Can anyone confirm please? ep91 starlet dizzy top El44 paseo dizzy below

      Engine Cost for Sportvito SX6 2007

      Looks like they are widely available for ~$2500 probably cheaper if you look around. Issue with selling to a wreckers is they have to store the parts until they eventually sell and they want profit on top of that so aren't likely to offer the actual value. I'd personally ask for $2000 for the entire thing and hope they meet half way. Could make a lot more money from it if you had patience and space to part it out yourself but most would just want to get it over and done with. Says you're not in Australia so parts demand may be lower too so that's one thing to factor into their offer.

      Engine Cost for Sportvito SX6 2007

      Unfournately, my beloved Aurion was recently involved in a crash and it is a complete write off, due to the extensive frontal damage and the steering being inoperable. So I am after quotes from wreckers and one has recently just gotten back to me asking "how much do I want for it" The engine is still in working condition has about 190,000kmh. Generally write offs go for about $500-1000 but was wondering if the engine cost could get me more. I don't wanna get ripped off, but at the same time I don't want to get laughed off. So what would be a reasonable price to ask for?

      1990 Seca Backfiring - Carby and Fuel Pump Overhaul Required

      Hi There, my AE92 Seca has been backfiring when I back off the revs and I finally took it to my mechanic who said it would need a carby and fuel pump overhaul as it's drawing too much fuel and this is causing a leak (and the backfiring). He's not able to do the job himself and suggested I try looking online for suggestions as to who might do this kind of work in or near Brisbane. Well here I am!!! Hit me.       i will also add that the amount of grease on the gears etc above the actuator was way more than required and in the heat of summer was 1000% the cause of the gummy servo motor as it would spin off the main drive gear as the worm gear engaged in the heat of the day the drip down the hot servo armature. wipe some of it off if you happen to disassemble the gearbox BUT be strictly aware of how you pull it apart as there are spacers that need to go back the same way on the gears.
