What oil is good for Corolla 2006 ?

Recommended Posts

Hi mates,

I'm new to here and this is my first post. I would like your opinion on the best oil for Corolla 2006, specially for Australian conditions. How about Gulf Western 10w30 oil ?

It's cheaper too.

The best oil for your specific vehicle/engine is the oil recommended by the manufacturer as per the owner’s manual.

Next option is to view the lubrication guide for the various oil manufacturers. Penrite, Nulon and Gulf Western are Australian companies. Other known quality brands that I do use are Castrol, Shell and Mobil 1

Personally, I now buy whatever known brand Full Synthetic engine oil is on special at Super Cheap Auto, AutoBarn and Repco that is suitable for my engine. I also buy cheap engine oil to use as a flushing oil.

Definitely consider your driving conditions and a suitable regular oil change interval. Girlfriend and I both mainly drive short distances so our vehicles get an oil and filter change every 3 months.

100% agree with Ashley. As long as you stay within the manufacturer's recommendation, particularly the oil weight, you'll have no issues. Stock up when your desired oil is on sale like we do, and change your oil on a regular basis.

I like to stick with one brand for consistency, but that's just my OCD kicking in. There's no issue with mixing brands. Just keep the same weight as required.

The brands Ashley mentioned are all excellent quality. For me, I like to support local industry so Nulon, Penrite and Gulf Western all feature in my service regiment for various cars and farm machinery.
