Toyota Road Movie

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

My name is Jian Farhoumand and I am a recent graduate of the London Film School. I'm making a documentary about Toyota (and more particularly Toyota owners) and I'll be shooting material in four continents, starting this weekend. I'm making the movie with another young film-maker, Diego Del Brocco (a graduate of the Brighton Film School) and we'll be driving through Australia from the 25th April to the 5th May. Our general trajectory (as we will be coming via South Africa) will be Perth, Alice Springs, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney (and then flying off to the States to continue the film there). If there is ANYONE who would like to be filmed and interviewed for about two or three minutes, discussing their Toyota and why it's so special to them, then we would love to hear from you.

I PM'd Steve last week explaining what I'm trying to do and he replied that I should just post on the boards and then members can just contact me directly. What I'm aiming for is to meet with people with awesome-looking and fast Toyotas AS WELL AS with people at the other end of the spectrum like a farmer with an old beaten up Toyota 4 wheel drive who has always found it reliable. Landcruisers, Hiluxes, Mr2s, any and every Toyota model going. In cities or outback. We're looking for cool stories where people show that their car means more to them than just the label. So if you know anyone who's got a story like that, like their Toyota was what got their wife to hospital in time to give birth, or if they even lost their virginity in their Toyota (!), that kind of story. I imagined you guys would be the ones to ask.

We're flying out from Heathrow this Saturday and spending eight days in South Africa (where the chairman of the Twin Cam Club is setting us up with lots of cool interviews), filiming all around there, and then flying to Perth. We're gonna spend probably only one night in Perth then fly up to Alice Springs and rent a Landcruiser and film around there for three or four days, then fly down to Melbourne, then drive through and around Canberra and Sydney. So basically anyone that you know of at any and all of those places who is up for being interviewed would be great.

I hope this makes clear what we're trying to do. Basically we don't want it to be a corporate movie or an advert, but it's more about finding out what people all over the world genuinely feel about one particular make of car. So if you know of people (which I imagined you might!) with the kind of stories we're looking for who you think would be up for being interviewed on film for a few minutes (or if this means YOU), then I would be very grateful to hear from you. Please do email and/or call me. My preferred email address for this trip is: jianfarhoumand@hotmail.com and my mobile number is +44 (0) 7956 812182.

Also any cool Toyota events or meets that you might know of that are taking place in our time-frame would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to hear from you.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Jian Farhoumand.
