yep get your self a tripod go into M mode set the the aperture to f.8 (thats as small as it gos on the 5500)

and shutter at 15sec (thats as long as it will go on the 5500)

and a tip use the timer to set the shutter so you don't bump the cam

do you know how to do that?

M mode is manual (change the shutter and aperture to what you want)

A is aperture-priority auto (you can change the aperture and the cam will figger out the shutter)

S is shutter-priority auto (you can change the shutter and the cam will figger out the aperture)

heres the Owner's Manual for the 5600.. (dont have the 5500 no more)

gday all,

just took some pics of the red moon thats out tonight..

took a mad dash around the house looking for AA batteries cos i ran out and my rechargables arent recharged! ARGH! frustrating!!

after taking just one shot, the camera shuts down so i run back inside ripping open every remote and childrens toy in the house... its a beautiful thing to watch! did anyone else take pics?

anywayz im uploading them now.. will post em as soon as possible.

if you are online right now- check the live webstream! http://www.discoverychannel.com.au/eclipse...ern_cross.shtml

I knew someone would take pics of the Lunar Eclipse! Nice work Jase!!

I would have, but i dont have a camera... it looks pretty sweet though! an awesome pic would be of it as a half-cast with the earth slowly moving out of the way and a bit of light creeping back in...

yeah i grabbed some pics with an ixus50, set the exposure to -2 which lengthens exposure, most of my pics were rather wobbly, not having a tripod here and all, but resting it against something certainly allowed me to get some shots where it still resembles a moon being eclipsed by the earth.

ive only got 6 pics worth posting.. the rest werent zoomed in and look similar to headaches first pic.

little speckles of dust on the lense.. but hey.. i wasnt fully prepared for this! knew it was coming.. i was driving home from woolies when i saw the moon adn remembred todays red moon day!

far out photobucket is either slow or my broadband is

**EDIT**

OR MAYBE ITS SLOW BECAUSE OF THE BLOOD RED MOOONNN??? wwwwwoooooOOOOOOOooooo!!! SCARY
