Annual Meet Proposal

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just an idea for a once yearly club meet where everyone from QLD, NSW and VIC can get together at one central location, stay in motels and cruise around as one large group.

I'm based in Melbourne.

As an example, let's say us from VIC and QLD all start a day-trip down/up the coast-line/freeway to meet up at the Central Coast, NSW. Have a motel booked in for all the members to rest in. Cruise the coast and get to know everyone in the club in person.

Not just a small club cruise from each local area, but a large one.

Basically, us from VIC would meet up in a place like K-Mart by the Hume Highway before heading up to NSW. And you guys in QLD meet up before heading down to NSW.

Those in NSW are basically the lucky ones I guess.

Anyway, something like this will obviously need a lot of planning and plenty time in advance for us to schedule the date off work and get the cash together for such a trip.

I was thinking a public holiday where we end up having a long weekend. And some time when it's warm but not too hot. Just before or just after the months of Summer perhaps?

Anyway, who's interested? If we can get a decent list going we can look into dates, places to stay and total costs!

Sincerely,

Samuel

this has been in the air for a while but the dates i was looking at was anzac day weekend or queens bday weekend.

but it's up to everyones availability.

when are ppl available?

for those coming into sydney there is a f1 in wentworthville and liverpool and it doesnt cost much per night. so sharing the cost between friends could be a good option. i think the max they sleep is 3 persons.

$79 for up to 4 people per night. $20 each a room shared in 4.

Bit of dinner, breaky around the city.

Not bad, not bad.

I'm available all year except Christmas season as it tends to get REAL busy in my industry. Like, 130+ hours a week as compared to my usual 60+.

Anzac day sounds good too, on the weekend. But is it a long weekend? 25th April this year is on a Wednesday.

Best to do it on a long weekend, so we have time to drive up, enjoy the scenes, drive back and rest at home before going back to work.

Sincerely,

Samuel

but in holiday time please :D

we can take over a desserted carpark :D

Hmm, 4 days on Easter. But some of us have kids, wouldn't be the best date for such a large cruise.

brandon and I ended up concieving this last year as well. there would be a bit of involvment required and more time for people. due to the sheer size of it people will have conflicting dates, so a lot of notice would be needed before everyone can be penned in.

thats so right. thats why it hasn't been posted yet. i think much more talk was needed before it came out in the open but no harm done now thats the thread is here how about we ask all states for some suggestions to where and when etc....

if it's planned right maybe it could all fall together quite well over the october long weekend. i'm thinking even the queens birthday in june is way to early for a meet like this.

also a location here in sydney ( assuming that it will be here cause its the most central to melb and qld) for the actual meet would need to be booked. but where?

LOL my backyard :P

I wish. if I could get my aunties farm out west, it could work.

also i will have 2 room available if people wanna crash at mine. It's always open to TOCAU members

single females need not apply as my bed is big enough for 2 :P

seriously tho, i will ask out my aunties farm

A nice motel near the coast would be terrific, or even a caravan park - all pre-booked in advance of course.

Sydney is ok, but the Central Coast is even better for cruising. We can organise to meet up with the Sydney Rolla Club members as well (I have a few mates in there).

Let's not worry too much about dates yet. Makes things complicated. First we need numbers of those interested in a long organised cruise up/down to NSW and members who would be interested in leading their group up/down to NSW.

When we have numbers, we vote on dates. Even if it's not this year, if we can make a solid decision, written in rock; then we're off. We organise place to stay, costs for food (you guys in Sydney would be doing this work locally), probably a package with the accomodation.

Where we will cruise once we all get to NSW and have had our nights rest, what sites we can expect to see? Blue Mountains, Harbour Bridge etc.

Step 1: Who's interested. Get a mass e-mail organised, formal. Get numbers. Get people to reply by mail with questions, or to call a phone number supplied.

The forum administration should be able to mass e-mail all our members; including those who have fallen inactive.

Sincerely,

Samuel

Sydney wouldn't be central lol

It would take us 2 1/2 hours, the melbourne guys 5 - 6 hours and the QLD people...well they'd have to stay over night somewhere in northern nsw before getting to sydney. I dunno, if it's ok with them fair enough...but it's a long way for them to drive. Somwhere more north in NSW could be better.

I don't think it would be feasable to drive up the coast for us mexicans - it would take far too long if it's to happen over a long weekend. You would still have to stick to the Hume I think.

Would it really take the Brisvagas people that long to get to Sydney?

12 Hours from Melbourne to Central Coast (Gosford etc), NSW.

That's when I don't have a break.

Really with a large group breaks will be needed every 2 hours to cool off, make sure everyone is 100%.

We can go further up NSW if it's desirable.

How long is the drive from say, Brisbane to Central Coast? How about the time to Newcastle?

its like a 14hr slog (with breaks, and you gotta take them)

9hrs from brisbane to syd with a stop half way for fuel....

Brisbane to Sydney is quicker than Melbourne to Sydney then. Unless you're speeding half the way?

Never done the trip, so wouldn't know.

Have been from Melbourne - Sydney and back around 5 times now and it is in the 10 hour mark. 11-12 hours to Central Coast depending if you hit Sydney on a weekday during their peak hour :P

Seems fair and even both ways.

sydney isnt central to u rob cause ur in canberra....... :P

it took us 11 hours to get to gold coast from our house and we stoppped 5 times for fuel and coffee and had all the kids with us including 1 year old twins........so i'm sure for u single folk it would take about 9-10 hours to get here like what corey said. and from memory melbourne is also 10 hours from sydney.....but again thats with kids. so i would say sydney is kinda in the middle.

but we do need possible dates and venues.

so any ideas boys and girls?????

Us mods have been bantering this idea and the logistics involved for a while now. Finding the date to do it is the hardest one to start with plus it will take a few of the Sydney members to put their hands up and help out with some serious organisational issues like accomodation, itinerary etc etc. It would be pretty hard for us here in QLD and those from VIC etc to try and organise as we don't know the place. Hell the furtherest south I've been is Bathurst and that took 12 hours towing a race car.(man that was painfull)

Some my suggestion is this; NSW mods will have to take control of this with the help of some other members and then the mods in the other states will then organise their groups to to make the trek to Sydney. I am happy to try and help from my end but as I said I don't know Sydney from a bar of soap so if you have the local knowledge then put it to good use and help out!!!!!

Personal preference for me is Queens birthday long weekend. It's still 3 odd months away :D

3 months will fly by too quick I think. Take it slow, get it right.

I'm in NSW for a weekend around June 30th for a mates engagement party. Also a member of the SydneyRollaClub. Maybe I can suss everything out then as well.

Unless someone puts their hands up now and wishes to start doing all the dirty work :D

Really need numbers, a mass e-mail sent out to get those numbers of people interested. So we can see how many may potentially come, and how much accomodation we need.

Then we find good locations that would suit those numbers. Then we see when MOST of the interested people can participate in the event.

Then we roll :D
