  2. this place also supplies them and delivers to Australia no worries (already sussed out long ago :P) http://www.toyotaterritory.com/COROLLA.ASPX
  3. whoah - SNAP!!! $1700 odd if you go Nissan mate and my recommendations include: *ditch the rear wing *ditch the wheels in favour of aforementioned deepdish *ditch the sideskirts with those mods you should be cranking 230-260kw atw on around 1 bar me-thinks ;) Would chop my toy hard...damn factory 4-5psi crap...
  4. don't waste your time and money with the cheap aussie trash that is Lukey mate. hear many stories of the inside walls of the mufflers blowing out and whatnot - they are cheap for a reason. Go with stuff from japan or the US if you can afford it.
  5. g0t overk1ll? far out, i would be hoping for 800+w RMS with that setup, although i am not too familiar with Soundstream gear (Alpine ftw ;)). Just crank it and be on standby with replacement boot seals :P enjoy the d00f d00f
  6. although i would say it is quite hard to hit the factory ECU's knock threshold levels with just tweaking the A/F ratios unless you are being stupid and trying to starve the engine or something. as far as gains go...i think it really depends on how your stock ECU is responding to your mods, and this is something i think people overlook with these cars. I for example had a full 2.5" exhaust sytem and AEM intake on a 1zz corolla and the factory ECU really didnt know how to use those mods to their best potential. The car ran rich in the lower rpm range and leaned out hardcore at anything over 4.5k rpm. When i threw the Power FC in there though i made a gain of 17kw atw peak power, i think some 6kw of which was simply from ironing out the A/F ratios.
  7. use a blade to peel it off just like taking the rego sticker off. Mish.... you should know better than to wave blades around the paintwork... Mate your best bet is to just have the car sitting in the sun for a few hours and jimmy off that homo badge with some fishing line. Also...welcome :)
  8. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=9756 better design than wildcat, less bends, made out of steampipe; more durable & heat resistant - AND... CHEAPER!!! as others have said, for the longer/better header designs you can keep the stock exhaust and just get it chopped and flanged, or put a flex in there if you want... something i bet people didnt know, is that the stock piping on the 1zz exhaust system between the extractors and the cat is 2.5"...
  9. remind me who had the shopping list and blinkers on chrome rear view mirrors....... haha, he is right Bill....shopping lists are the biggest ricer possible - chrome altezza rear lights come in a nice 2nd - good to see you have discarded them both for real(ish) - 14.1 sec on 8psi? :P) performance. but yeah Northy...too bad you don't have the performance to back your rice, its a nice car
  10. points to consider include: *honda is a "performance" FF drive car....bit of an oxymoron if you ask me... *the 1zz corollas are daily commuters for the elderly and conservative *vtec is for ricers *chumps drive hondas in summary, 1zz >>> ricer vtec chump car /end.thread (yes i am aware this is a juvenile response but take at look at the OP :P )
  11. the reason there is a difference in the sound an intake makes in relation to the air temp is simple... when the air is cooler the engine will take in more air at a time, a greater volume, it makes more noise passing through the pod...when it is hotter there is not such a great quantity of air being ingested by the pod, hence less noise. :) mmm startup on winter morning on idle...sounds like a vacuum cleaner :P
  12. thought i would just add my "2c" here as well... Fat-911 - go for it mate, don't listen to any of the whining nay sayers, if you got the cash and the knowhow i personally don't think a supercharger job on the 2zz would be hard at all. As Xoom said there will be little issues you will come across but nothing a bit of perseverance cant overcome! Hit Xoom up for a Power FC hookup...he is a proven successful middle man (dont let him rip you off though :P) Also as for the radiator, a custom job there should be easy...if you are lucky you may even be able to find a good dual core that could do the job for you :)
  13. I've got Bendix Heavy Duty pads in the front of my corolla and they are a heap better than stock, much stronger bite and i didn't even bother machining my rotors. I think you made the mistake of getting the "sport" version - this is not hardcore enough, you need to get the $hit made for light industrial vehicles man
  14. it "feels" like there is more? sounds top quality...an SOB to tune and uncertain gains as others have already mentioned, for the money, if you are just looking for some extra power beyond an exhaust/intake then the emanage is the next best place to start...
  15. the Aurion is a nice ride, the old man is getting one of these soon, would make a decent cop car. I have seen unmarked Mitsu 380s around as well... also while on the topic of dissing cops i feel i need to vent my increased annoyance with their stupidity/incompetence and general attitude. I randomly copped a defect for my "non standard wheels (17s on legal rubber, plenty of tread) and exhaust" (its a muffler, not overly loud). I was targeted out of a large group of traffic, i was not breaking the law at all, I was polite and friendly to the officer and they still stung me. The guy didnt even know what the RTA regulations are the turd, all he cared about was meeting his quota for the day. i will also add... d_ice, i understand where you are coming from man, there are times when you need to stand up for yourself, but everytime some clown asks you if "you got a problem" is not one of those times... i am still very much a young bloke myself but you may see that nek is very much right, it takes a real man to rise above all the d1ckheads out there rather than retaliate and sink to their level - sometimes however confrontations are unavoidable unfortunately. As for police targeting stereotypes, its a crook thing, but look at it from their perspective...the majority of crime they have to deal with is instigated by gangs/racial groups, it is unfortunate that so many coppers run on those majorative based assumptions rather than doing their job free of bias.
  16. holy crap JP, how the hell did you get that from those tiny pics? haha I cant see anything other than some shabby painted intake manifold and what looks to be a front strut brace. 165 kw at 8 pound...hmmm <_<
  17. Good thing you didnt say conquest there mate otherwise you might be eating your words in good time :P jps - I would for sure wait until April before buying either (it is still kinda unclear what the go with the new corolla is), however if the choice does come down to Sportivo vs Levin, judging on your criteria I would advise the levin for the simple reason of build quality. If you are doing long trips...how much do you think you are going to use LIFT? Is it worth sacrificing the chance that you are driving along with 250,000 kms on the odo in a few years time and having your passenger door fall off? If you REALLY want performance though and arent the type who is into heavily modifying cars then the stivo will be better bang for buck for sure. Understandably now you would be leaning towards the stivo (I know i would for the extra juice hehe) but you don't want to be regretting your decision a few years down the track, especially if anything goes wrong with the only good point of the car (motor) as they are somewhat costly. With the levin you could blow the motor, break all the synchros in the gearbox, slam the doors, etc and things can easily be replaced with minimal cost years down the track. Same goes to all the sportivo owners here, i would be looking to palm off those cars as soon as the mechanics start showing signs of significant wear because parts will be very hard to acquire in a few years time ;) And for the record my conquest has 80,000ks on it, has taken a godly beating, has never had ONE problem with it (its 4.5 years old) and still goes strong.
  18. And you wonder why so many people compare cars to women...
  19. Hey man, don't mean to whine on like the annoying pr1ck old guy (not that i am old :P ) but maybe you need to learn how to drive properly before trying to treat your nice sportivo that your parents brought for you like a race car? Get some experience in driving the car like like a normal traffic dwelling vehicle, not only will it reduce the chance of doing damage to your car and p1ssing off of the olds but you could very well save yourself from harm to yourself and others. Also, i would hold off on taking to the car with an angle grinder mods wise until you have mastered what the car has to offer standard. Again sorry mate, there is nothing wrong with enjoying your toys ;) but we have to remember how expensive and dangerous they can be :( Cheers
  20. Jade, Generally most aftermarket ECUs are tuned at WOT. They just get the car in gear (4th is the best for 1zz) and have the foot flat from about 2k until fuel cut and seeing as our cars are DBW and not electronic throttle, WOT is pretty much the only consistent place to tune from. I am not 100% sure (i am sure some pro's could tell you *cough* rollamods) but i think most ECUs simply self adjust the a/f ratio at varying throttle states simply by measuring the intake volume and adjusting the injector duty cycle. Because the Camcon is a wacko piggyback though, i am not sure whether the A/F-throttle adjustment would come from the Camcon or the stock ECU...good luck with it
  21. if you are going to do a turbo job on these cars....Power FC is the best option, emanage ultimate second best...haltechs arent well suited for Toyotas from what i have seen. secondly any turbo job done on these cars needs to be completely custom, anything "bolt-on" from overseas is a waste of money and won't fit without some chronic modification.
  22. man, the 2zz looks like even more of a piece of crap when it is in pieces :P looking all good though Bill, should be a good base to make some reliable horsies under BOOOOOOOST!!! it seems like you didnt change the cams at all however...is that because you couldnt find any that would be stable for F/I, or they werent worth the gains for the money (perhaps there arent any to be had)? looks like they took to that crank with an angle grinder as well ALSO while i am picking the $hit out of you here...you think an excedy sports clutch will cut it down the track? I think you may be clamouring for a brassy later on man ;) But i could be wrong (or you could be planning on changing the clutch later)...its all good stuff still The only complaints i want to have when this is done Bill will be along the lines of: "it gets 90 degrees torque steer when it hits boost!" and "why won't my rubber play nice with the road?"
  23. catch a boat to melbourne? from what i have heard, coilovers havnt been invented yet in tasmania, so the wisest thing would be to hitch a ride on "the mainland" but seriously, that is the only thing i can think of. Unless you go and try and drive some used cars (pretending you are going to buy of course) that have some coilovers in them...
  24. I WAS keen on this, but my clutch is really starting to go downhill fast and the rising temperatures don't agree with my current tune :(
