  1. yeah it was a pretty good turnout considering the dodgy weather, its bucketing down in Newy right now, hehe, so i think we were pretty lucky. how long did everyone end up hanging around in Redhead for? I had to bail early to go to work :( loved the Xtreme photography as well :P
  2. at this point in time guys i am saying that Newcastle is probably going to be very washed out. It was raining all last night and has been raining all day today...I don't mind cruising if it is a little damp with the occassional light shower, but if it is like today i would say its a no go! :( was looking forward to some pizza as well... :P and i would also suggest NOT trying to 'drift' any corollas in the wet, they are somewhat understeer inclined cars, especially in the wet...
  3. I may be interested, also depending on day/date... I wouldnt be too inclined to go MRT, it looks like they use a dynopack dyno and they are known for overstating, even though it looks like they have a great dyno environment there.
  4. yeah sorry Bill, but that dyno graph has kind of been overshadowed by Hexx's avatar here... :P :P :P you can just hope that stage 2 yeilds equally good results without any hassle
  5. I don't know, i reckon with the ferrari grinding the hubs along the ground for traction would still probably take that one out :P :P :P
  6. those gear ratios and calculations with shift rpms and stuff seem kind of wrong... what 5 speed box are you using? i thought the stock mr-s was a 6 speed, i think that was the last model though... and i thought you would have been running the power fc for a 2zz conversion, what ECU are you using? I would be getting the 6 speed in there and a power fc before anything else and the car should seen much faster and more capable of low 14's. as it is at the moment i would be expecting high 14's, low 15 passes. With my 1zz, rev cut at 7200rpm i get over the 400m line in 3rd gear, sportivos get over in 4th and other 1zzs (without altered rev cut) get over in 4th.
  7. what the hell? you been drinking man? haha, it is past 10 on a friday night...fair enough i guess :P i will work on getting some more precise info on our location during the week and will be heading down earlyish Sunday morning to help Michelle/Mark (OH84BY) and Tom (blue_rolla) setup in Redhead, get some directions going and food setup. Should be a good day, only a week and bit to go!
  8. good results Bill, wish i could claim such consistency :P that second run...with a trap speed similar to mine (from memory) and a quicker launch time...how were you not over the line faster? what happened man! And yeah i don't know how your clutch is taking it, i couldnt get a good launch after my first run last time and the clutch slips on road now.
  9. i honestly wouldnt be expecting low 14s with a 5 speed box in the 2zz, even if it is in the lighter, RWD MR-S. Power output could vary from 100kw atw to 120kw atw, depending on quality of your tune and any other parts. A major advantage the stivo has over the 1zz is the 6 speed, it really addresses those nasty ratio gaps between 2nd-3rd and 3rd-4th. Also as you identified mate, you need to be constantly in high cam to get the 2zzs moving and a 6 speed assures this. comparing a turbo 1zz mr-s to a 2zz mr-s is a joke, the turbo will munch the 2zz and be much more fun to drive, so give the 2zz mr-s to your bro and take the turbo :D
  10. hehe yeah thanks Bill i will second that a couple of things i noted there: the 2zz took a bit to get the smoke going (dont blame the semi slicks <_< ) and no offence Bangn but i think your car sounds like crap in that rev range, kinda like a Hyundai Getz revving too hard, where is the LIFT y0? :P
  11. i am also out, won't be able to make it down due to several inhibiting factors :(
  12. ohhh what car show is that? is it the muscle cars again? the foreshore will be packed! :D its alright, i will make sure we get all the attention...just give me 100 metres of road and a spare set of tyres :P :P :P (yes, that WAS a joke)
  13. shouldnt the vultures be questioning the fate of BanGn's 2zz by now? (if this does go ahead as implied) :P i know a guy that is doing a job on one of these motors - F/I of course, but he forecasts 500hp atw with it...and i know you can get some serious N/A parts for these things too.
  14. yep i did the same thing with my AEM, just taped some chunky gorilla grip against the chassis where the intake knocks against, problem solved :)
  15. bumps such as that only exist on the street and if you are running that hard then that sounds like street racing to me. How often do you treat the street like Wakefield park man? Unless you are visiting the track often/street racing/being a "mountain run" wh0re the cost for an LSD in one of these cars hells is not worth it IMO - 2k minimum just to stop the inside wheel lighting up when you are in Schumacher mode....blah i mean if you were running some serious horsepower it would be different :P
  16. There is a turbo 1zz rolla in Canberra...Glen i think it is, dont know his user name on the forum here... and there is an upcoming turbo stivo in Sydney i believe, so its all coming along. I would say however that the reason for their not being more turbo conversions done is because of the manifold being on the back of the motors rather than the conventional front for 4 cyls, room is somewhat more restrictive and heat seperation from the firewall, etc. AND there is also the reason that Corolla's are grandmas cars and only a tool would turbo one :P :P :P
  17. damn, that is pretty intense for a stock motor but i am also thinking that they have everything else done to the car to make that work. They were probably running a 3 puck and they said they were still getting clutch issues :P they also mentioned that they dynod the car to almost 9k rpm at 16 pound and no BOOM! - goes to show what proper tuning is all about ;) so when your car is fully decked out Bill we should se at least 12.5s...not bad :D now if the 2zz can do that...i can forsee a stock 1zz taking 20 pound upto 7500rpm....450whp...low 11's - HAHA :P
  18. In my 1zz - with mods (including ECU - wasnt tuned for economy :P) average 7-8L per 100km with "assorted" driving styles. Restricted to BP Ultimate only, its the good stuff. prior to any mods i got between 6.5-7.5L per 100km using random fuels and grandpa driving (not worth smashing a stock 1zz, it doesnt really go anywhere )
  19. I will see what i can do getting down for the 30th...the car isnt exactly ready for it, been having a huge pain in the ar$e replacing the suspension and the car has been off road for 2 weeks And yeah Zee, from what i have read the MPS3s are definitely quicker than the XR5s (stock vs stock of course) and regarding tyre pressure, if you are driving a decent powered FWD car you HAVE to drop the tyre pressure if you hope to get a decent time. It does sacrifice a little trap speed, but greatly improves your 60" times. Also i wouldnt worry about engine mounts, a new stock turbo car would be easily equipped to take those sort of hits. Just cane your car to the max through all the gears with a smooth launch and you should make sub 14.5 pretty easy :)
  20. well having gone from a generic canon to a single tip magnaflow on the same exhaust system i can say that magnaflows do not drone, they have an ok growl down low (not as nice as a canon though :P) and make decent noise when you plant it, but if just cruising they are very tolerable. And power wise...i felt no difference changing from the canon at anywhere in the rev band just smoother and less savage noise wise. also i will mention that when you start looking at twin tip magnaflows they are pretty damn expensive compared to a single tip. A single tip can be had for $200 easy whereas twin is minimum $280 (lowest i saw was $320) - a fair amount extra just for an aesthetic addition if you ask me...
  21. on his panther (i remember he-man michelle...:P)
  22. hmmm, maybe if i only try and do a couple of runs to keep the clutch cool it could work... <_< then that way i could watch some runs as well :D but then there is still the lack of a good traction solution and if i cannot sort that as well i am not going to go much better - DAMN!
  23. I am a bit more skeptical about SSS pulsars nowadays...because the 50% of the time if you have one that is keen you will hear a slight flutter when they rev - SR20, no chance :( The 1zz can take these things easy though so long as they don't have a trick engine in there ;) ...and they think they can take sportivos?...tsk tsk, Nissan chumps :P EDIT: Just read that thread on their forum, they are comparing pulsars with cam work done to stockish stivo track times. They are also very hostile and don't like people suggesting a logical comparison - nice try Syxxpac :P
