  1. So were you happy or angry that it was out then?
  2. When you have money to purchase a GS450h, then talk us about AVS (or the newer type of TEMS, not the same as the old MA70 Supra that was sold in Australia) and how it links in with Pre-Collision System that detects an accident is imminent via a radar then increases brake boost pressure, pre-arms seat belt tensioning as well as stiffen up the suspensions which then ties it with ABS, VSC and TRC. AVS is however available on all GS. VGRS is on the GS450h and this sharpens the steering and helps you correct a small slide without steering input. All of this is available right now... at a price and the European manufacturers have on their upper end vehicles, not $3x,000 family cars. VSC on most common cars relies on reducing power and individually controlling each brake to control the car. This in itself is a sophisticated system that no driver can achieve with a normal 3 pedal setup. Btw, VSC is standard across the Aurion range as well as 6 airbags.
  3. What I've been hearing is that the signal strength indicators might not work but it will still function as a BT handsfree kit. The system does run off a generic BT protocol so any deviation outside of the standard protocol will have certain features not work. My old O2 Atom Exec doesn't show the signal strength but it still operates the necessary things.
  4. They sure do, and other manufacturers too where having a factory dedicated to hand welding towbars isn't the most cost effective way of building towbars. Towbars in Australia are a pretty unique item that no one else in the world uses to the exact design (more so due to ADR) so nearly all the bars sold in Australia gets designed by Toyota Australia from scratch and gets tested so that the chassis doesn't break where I know aftermarket ones put some on, more specifically RAV4 towbars 4 bolt jobs that sure do fit (even those making bars under license), but almost increase the chances of the chassis to crack as major stress testing with a chassis isn't done on them (could you imagine the cost to test one and to physically crack a chassis with a towbar so you know at what forces is needed to break it?). But at the end of the day, it's your choice. Oh, the lower panel with the hole is a unique part that is to be fitted with the genuine towbar. Castle Hill is just trying to cut corners and do a dodgy.
  5. They may weld up the bar, but they are not allowed to use the design that Toyota designed as it will contravene the patent design of the towbar. FYI, Hayman Reese do not do ALL Toyota towbars. They aren't the only aftermarket welders out there that operate in Australia.
  6. HID conversion kits are even more dangerous than blue bulbs. Please don't recommend things without saying the fact that you will be given a defect notice for retrofitted HID kit. Oh, for the record, the hottest Corolla is the AE92 Corolla with the 4AGE but that's just opinions and based on no facts.
  7. 1. There is a product I've used (I do not recommend them) that presses this I agree for you after 5 seconds of it being switched on. It's an iPod adaptor to play iPods that plugs in at the back but a fairly poor one at that. It works but it's slow as. 2. You'll need to make a switch to disable the speed signal and navigation antenna for it to operate when the vehicle is in motion. (This is the "tweak" that auto electricians use and charge $400 for.) So it means whilst you're fumbling on the navi, the navi system won't actually work until you turn them back on again. 3. You're not suppose to view anything non navi/audio on the screen when in motion. Don't do it as it will increase greatly the risk of accidents and easily get done by the cops too because the screen is so obvious to the outside world. I know it's tempting but even fumbling at the navi itself has almost gotten me into bother. Plus anyone watching it in motion will get motion sickness real quick. tumbi, you won't be able to do 2 camera inputs but any camera will do. As long as it has the right Toyota camera plug. Eclipse make a camera that apparently is OK but even then, they aren't that great of the ones I've seen in the market.
  8. Here's the latest for Sat nav.. Plug and play.. USB input, optional iPod kit (real one), BT and input for speed signals so it'll work in tunnels. Plus it should do your red light/speed camera warnings like any TomTom. RRP $1495 http://www.toyota.com.au/Accessories/acces...64_1312,00.html
  9. Privacy glass are 100% UV glass. Yes the glass is coloured and the advantage is that it's very less prone to scratches which no other tints can imitate. Try your freshly cut nails over privacy glass and then do the same with the best tint out there. I can guarantee that privacy glass will not scratch. The dealers will be saying privacy glass is not UV cut to get sales of tint because they have lost a very big cash cow charging $400+ for tinting (100% markup) and then saying that it's not UV protected etc. All glass are UV cut glass in some way shape or form (even on the cheapest Yaris). You do not need to tint the rear privacy glass and yes they are legal with the addition of being able to tint the front windows with 35% tint.
  10. What would I know, I was the one responsible for it being available for sale at the dealers in the first place.... But whatever you reckon mate.
  11. So you are comparing the TRD USA wheels to some sad aftermarket rim?
  12. I have heard that the speed of the actual crash was close to double the printed speed.
  13. The called ID will only be displayed when you are stationary. The speed signal cable is connected to the audio unit. The compatibility apparently works best with SE because they stick to the standard BT protocols. My O2 phone is probably the same wishy washy brand of BT to Nokia which isn't that great.
  14. 6) Auto-levelling I have heard is a requirement for HID kits, as it is the edges of HID lights that create the glare. This is a mandatory requirement under the regulations. Any manufacturer that does not have this will have to have all cars recalled. As for why you shouldn't do it. - You blind with the glare (don't say there is minimal because some glare is built into standard halogens to light overhead signage hence you see the cut off a little blurry) oncoming cars which increases the chance of them running into you or causing someone else to have an accident (and risk of killing them or yourself). - You see less as the blue spectrum is the least sensitive to the human eye so you see no more than regular standard halogen - You blind yourself in these wet weather as the blue reflects back to your eyes. - You void your own insurance as the car is effectively unroadworthy Now if you aren't smart enough to work it out, don't do it. All you'll do is create a higher risk of being in and/or causing a major accident with retrofitted kits. But maybe those with them needs to experience something major to work it out...
  15. It's because of the new rules manufacturers need to comply with since 2005 and it's not to combat speeding. This ADR ruling mirrors the UNECE regulations as this is one of the harmonised regs. Having said there, there are devices you can connect to the OBD plugs that can extract the exact speed reading (amongst other things) you could put somewhere. Apexi make the i-Moni and RSM. All plug and play so no biggy if you want to remove it quickly however, just check for compatibility before buying.
  16. The disc is installed at the factory so whenever the car was built was when the disc was inserted to the navi drive. The dealer does not see a cent and would only come out of the deal if they were to offer a new disc on a sales contract. Generally the old disc is as good as a used oil filter.
  17. If you have a disc, how can you burn a copy?? It's >4.7Gb so it's not your average DVD+/-R disc.
  18. Rather have an expensive key + lots of hassles than some low-life buying one for $50 for a replacement easily and then taking your car without breaking a thing... maybe hang it around your neck and hide it under your shirt so one doesn't lose it next time? But then again, why would you want to lose your keys to anything?
  19. Beeps only happen if you have either reverse sensors (which is a beep to let you know the system is working properly) or you drive a manual where the beep lets you know you are in reverse gear and not 1st.
  20. This is the difference between a salesman and a person that is passionate about their products. Yes the product could be as boring as a loaf of bread but highlight the good points, sound passionate and excite the potential customer... then make it sound convincing but be at the same time tell the truth. That way, even though you might not get the sale, but at least you'll leave a good impression to the customer to refer their friends to you. My dad bought a car from a guy > 10 yrs ago yet he still refers people to go see this guy. Why? He got a good experience and knew his stuff. Salesman need to add value to the sales process. That's why they are being paid to do. Not to shuffle paperwork. Any monkey can do that but to provide real customer service, expertise and intimate knowledge of the product they are selling is part of what their commissions is for. If all they did was shuffle paper, we might need to start a new currency of bananas because there's a zoo full of monkeys they could employ to do that for next to nothing. A long time ago, I was at Terry Shields Toyota out at Parramatta with my parents looking for a 2nd hand Tarago (the first of the bubble shape) and the salesman there had the nerves to tell me the Tarago had a 2.2L and didn't believe me... I then dared him to go check the engine code to be a 2TZFE and 2.4L in capacity (and I was right). I was just an average punter that knows what I'm looking for and this so called "salesman" is making money on me?? For what? I might as well fill out my own sales contract form. From what I've seen in sales training, a lot of the training involves pressure selling like signing on the line, locking in something etc. Most dealerships are concerned with pushing cars out the door but very little focus on selling options/accessories which adds value to the vehicle from a customer's point of view. Anyway, I'll stop my rant here. akuma, you order a TRD Aurion by going to a TRD dealer and buying it the same way you buy a STi at a STi dealer.
  21. If they do fit it, show us a picture of the underside of the boot lid. I'm most interested at how they do it.
  22. Rear spoiler cannot be fitted with rear camera legally. That's not to say it will not physically fit.
  23. You must love being ripped off. $1000 for 4x15" steel rims, 4x wheel trims, 4x185/60R15 (cheaper if you get 195/55R15 but I shouldn't tell you that) and even cheaper on Ebay but I also shouldn't tell you that... also I shouldn't tell you that by going up to 15", that handling, ride and resale improves (lower odo reading)... How about you pay me $1000, I'll pocket the change. I don't see the point of your complaint. I too speak to many YR owners, none have complained or even noticed which leads me to my question... what is the problem? It works to the law (which is determined by the UN). You want to complain, take it to the UN. Come to think of it, I love the stickers on the car. It'd show the world how much you love the Yaris so much that you need to plaster it with go-fast stickers. With all that vinyl on it, it must produce and extra 30kW ATW!!!!!one11111 Btw, yes $20.6k is too much... ripped off. Sure did. baibai! HTH
  24. If you paid $20k+ for a YR 5 door on the road (even an auto), you certainly got ripped off... Here's a tip.. read the ECE 39 / ADR 18/03 legislation in regards to this rather than make a spectacle of yourself. Btw, putting the 15" (185/60R15) wheels and tyres will correct it as well as reduce the odometer so your car will be clocking on less k's than it's actually done. HTH.
