  1. Superdave's last sentence says it all. So it comes down to getting used to a little diffrence in clutch control at the lights(Christmas Tree) P/S Superdave - I have had the same prob with browser crash so I compose in Word then copy & paste
  2. That is a very hard lesson to learn and I know it really sucks. I did a similar thing to my Bro-in-law's RX2 in 1984 only I took out a 6 month old BMW 3 series. Thankfully he had unlimited 3rd party. You will need to check if there is any structural damage. Have a look at the pressed in creases on the inner guards and see if they have been deformed. Compare both sides as they should be nearly identical The car may well seem to drive OK but those crumple zones will tell the whole story. Hope you can have it repaired and recovered without too much expense Regards Mark
  3. Sorry Mike I have no manuals but I have to say 320k is a great testament to the reliability of Toyota vehicles. I had a mazda 626 some years ago and needed to rebuild the motor at 120k. Nice to know you want to keep her going.
  4. In case anyone is interested, because those 5 point torx screws can be a real bugger to remove with pliers the keys are available from Trade Tools. The set has 6 different size keys and a little ratchet handle for about $45. If you have to replace a worn or damaged steering wheel they are also necessary to remove most wheel mounted airbags.
  5. Definitely check on carsales or another site. Also try talking to a broker before buying. There is a guy in Brisbane who got me a 2006 BF falcon about 2 years ago from the auctions. I paid $9250 for the car plus the cost of the safety certificate as well as $350.00 for his personal fee. At the time these were going for up to $15-16 thousand. All checks were done through revs and I was given a 3 month warranty. He also said that he would return the car up to 7 days after the sale was completed just like any good dealer would. A broker has to be a registered dealer but they work without the overheads of the used car yards. http://www.yellowpages.com.au/search/listings?region=australia&showAllLocations=false&includeSurroundingSuburbs=false&bookId=1&locationArea=m&referredBy=www.yellowpages.com.au&areaId=1054&surroundingSuburbsModifiedByUser=false&sessionId=C1DF56F207953371961456E83B1A2055.12&stateId=1&clue=vehicle+brokers&serviceAreaModifiedByUser=false&pageNumber=1&lruPageNumber=1&locationClue=Sydney+NSW&showAllCandidates=false&serviceArea=false&locationText=Greater+Sydney+NSW&searchMode=type&tmPageNumber=1&headingCode=30880&adPs=4582376
  6. :D I believe "That's okay just put it through." thereby authorises the sales assistant to charge the minimum $5.00 for whatever they have in their hand! I would love to see that done one day. I can just imagine the look on their face. Facial expressions would go something like this... Steven:- Customer:- :o Steven:- Customer:- Everyone else in the store:- :D :P steven:- B)
  7. According to our website the standard unit is 80 amp. There does not seem to be an alternator with any more output which can be adapted to suit as yet. Both Denso and Bosch manufacture one for this but 80a seems to be it for both.
  8. Serious? On the Aurion/Camry, the clip itself is rather hard to remove from the floor, and the way it hooks into the mat makes it pretty much never come loose... but also makes it annoying sometimes to unclip. You would think that all it takes is the idea of using the same eyelet and clips on all models which would probably also save costs. Here are a few of mine Dee: - Stacking dirty dishes. I never use the dishwasher and when you stack dirty dishes, you have to wash both sides with nearly equally as much effort. - Sitting in a movie and having someone next to you whistle unintentionally as they breathe. - On the topic of movies, those that laugh every second or take out their mobile and put a bright spot in your peripherals. - People on the highway that can't keep a relatively equal position in their lane. When driving down a long highway, I tend to subconsciously follow their movement as they edge towards the line. Oh my goodness hmmmmmmm..where do I start? That's right. 1. Opening a thread to have a look at the latest post and starting about 2 pages back from the end. But then I find the one above and that makes it all OK. 2. About those movies. It really gets to me when someone in the room gives a running commentary on what is about to happen. Or starts hyperventilating with excitement coming up to a good bit. I have to leave the room and watch it later. 3. And O mighty and glorious DJKOR - I truly do agree with the driving in the centre of the lane thing. When my wife is with me on the Gateway or M1 she panics when I drive centred. She won't stop at me till my bum is scraping the centre of the lane. So I hereby sincerely apologize if I have been the errant one misleading you to the left of the lane. 4. Driving behind a linemarking truck on a mountain range while he is re-doing the double centre lines. 12km in first gear just above idle really got to me but that was about 20 years ago so I just may as well forgive and forget
  9. I think that this belongs here Ever wanted a V8 but couldn't afford the fuel Sounds like a bit of fun
  10. Maybe try disconnecting the speedo at the gearbox and run the car around the block. Someone or something may have snagged the cable and kinked the moving cable inside. Can't suggest anything else though, sorry. Regards
  11. I was off sick most the week. I called a few guys on Wednesday but came up dry. The company I spoke about no longer does them but I'll ask some other suppliers as I speak to them. There has to be someone who does a good one.
  12. I must say that I am no 4by fan but that Hi-Lux is sensational. Obviously it’s built for offroad excursions where no man dares go. Your ingenuity seems to have no bounds though I’m sure it would have been handy having such a workshop to do things in. Love what you have done for the steering system. Also the ....everything. What’s not to like. My goodness that looks fearsome - WOW This saga has been a story with triumph and tragedy all rolled in. I nearly cried when you told about the cam seizing. That really would have hurt. Take it steady up there on the wet roads. That beast will be a thrill a minute.
  13. Nah it was taken as intended by you. Just me very quickly going insane being house bound for most of this week. I am usually pretty thick skinned although some may omit the skinned bit Hope to meet all you guys in Bris personally soon and really want to be part of the Annual Meet too. I'll be the one in a white Falcon that looks like a taxi.
  14. Ooh Snap Sorry guys I totally missed the important page. My mum said I was blonde when I was born. Or maybe it is the old-age thing. Trying to keep up. Legs too short tho Didn't mean to be a fly in the ointment either. The club and forum are amazing and gives me a bit of an outlet for my frustrations Thanks for the consideration of my idea.
  15. Got to say on the loo paper thing I absolutely agree except when the roll is on a cheap Bunnings holder and the mounting screw heads tear holes in the sheets as you take them off.
  16. Being at home sick for 3 days. What I thought was a migrane has turned into a case of Bali Belly. I never thought I would miss work this much. THIS IS THE PART THAT ANNOYS ME MORE THAN IT SHOULD!!
  17. Hello there and welcome to the club. Sorry but I have nothing by way of manuals or any info about what you may need. Just wanted to say HI before your post slipped away from the first day postings. Maybe someone else may take a look and help out Go the Celicas
  18. It is probably safer than having a near empty tank. The fuel vapour mixed with air is what is flammable not the so much petrol itself. (Well it is flammable so I don't recommend trying to light some petrol) What happens to an open drum of fuel is that as the surface of the liquid is heated by the flames starts to boil and then becomes more volatile as the heat increases. It is very rare for a fuel tank to spontaneously explode The only problem you should expect if you always have your tank full is the likelihood of someone syphoning the tank. At $1.60+/litre that would really suck big-time.
  19. Saw this a few months ago at Repco in Slacks creek. Never thought worthy of a pic.. Since we are on the bad taste subject feast your eyes on this I spotted at Underwood Marketplace shops Edit:- No I did not get to this with Photoshop
  20. I stuffed up and put the last post in the wrong area. I was wondering if there is anyone who would be interested in meeting on a Friday or Saturday to compare notes. I was hoping for somewhere on the southside – Carindale – Garden City – Acacia shopping Centre or maybe near the city where we don’t have to pay for parking. I am busy on Thursdays and Tuesdays so most likely for me is as above. Please add your ideas so we can get some consensus for a time and location Regretably my celica is still br/ok/en so it will come in a couple months hopefully. Hope this is not against the club rules. I couldn't find anything there though.
  21. Dammit.... Wrong area for this
  22. I'd be keen for Friday or Saturday night every so often, but I'm unavailable for the next few weeks. Hey I have had a bit too much going on lately, but still would like to be in on anything we can arrange. Why does life get soooooo busy. I will start up a weekend meet thread to guage the response. It would be awesome if there was a few regular long term members to have some input as well.....Pleeeeeeeease \m/(o_-)\m/ Will be next post
  23. no sir not yet , been working on my wifes civic and i still need a little bit more tuning done. ;) You have a wife?? I mean how did you get the engine parts let alone he whole thing into the dining room. Gotta love this guy.
  24. Welcome to the club. Many of us know too well the true meaning of the "work in progress" Hope you find what you seek in the way if advice or help with the Celica
